no power outage yet, thank goodness. Son started running a fever this evening, last thing I need is no power right now. Sitting herewatching him sleep. fever is down for the moment. No clue how much snow we've gotten thus far. It snowed like hell. Then came sleet mixed in with snow, now back to all snow again.

Hey DK, local news talked about thundersnow a town not far from mine experienced it. Course if it were here I may never know it. Between the heater running constantly, the howling of the wind, and the snowplows going by on the busy street, I probably couldn't hear it even it it was happening now, lol.

Praying for your son's health and your power, in Jesus' Name, amen! :blowkiss:

It just got EERILY quiet here......the wind and sleet/snow just stopped entirely. This makes me very nervous.

Cool on the thundersnow reports!

Here in West Michigan, all the schools are closed, even the universities. We were notified at work today that we will be closed tomorrow, and that my friends is unprecedented! So in honor of that, we're having blueberry pancakes tomorrow for breakfast!!!WooHoo!!! My neighbors are coming over for breakfast and my husband is not going anywhere tomorrow!!! YAY!!

It's bitter cold, and blowing, drifting snow but it's perfect right now.:rocker:

NorthEast Ohio here! Cleveland area, about 10" of snow on the ground cold. Now we have freezing rain all night I guess.Schools are closed tomorrow for the 2nd: day.Bitter cold. Who could ask for anything more.LOL. Oh yes wind!

:banghead:

I can't concentrate on prepping for tomorrow at all. I'm like a 12yo praying for a snow day!

Friend tells me LE is getting their snowmobiles out. That's just never a good sign.

Looks the highway won't be pleasant tonight.

Everything here, so far. *grumble grumble*

I think most of the school districts are closed....the colleges and trade schools are closed...they're telling people not to go out....not b/c of snow here (CO), but the freakin' wind chill

In NW Ohio LE asked anyone with snowmobiles to volunteer to help out with emergencies during the blizzard.

Here, the OPP patrol the highways with snowmobiles. I told an American friend about that a few weeks ago and he's likely still laughing at me. I should have clarified they only do that once in a while in snow emergencies. Just keep on adding to the Canadian stereotypes, me.

They must be busy out there with the full size snow plows keeping the main roads open. In the 20 years I've been here I have never seen a pick up truck with a plow do my street, which is a snow route.

I get two towns automatic emergency recorded phone messages. One said they were not even going to start plowing the residential side streets until 6 hours after the snow stopped. With the winds it will be that much work just to keep the main roads open.

Hey Duckie, here's the radar for your area.

http://www.weatheroffice.gc.ca/radar/index_e.html?id=WKR

It's animated and you can see that we're sending some stuff your way. Right now we've got sleet and we're west of you. Hope you get the day off. :great:

We're having reports of winds gusts from 45-58mph so far. But our current "lull" is continuing, it's like being in the eye of a hurricane, or something.

Down here in the springs, we are just as cold, and so far they HAVE NOT called school!!!!! Last snow storm, I think our district (district 3 small one lol) was the only one OPEN. Today was our first day closed, and I really doubt they will close tomorrow, even though the morning is going to be COLDER than it was today! AND, we have Nuggets tix for tomorrow night, so we will be heading to Denver, supposed to ride the light rail, but I think we will just pay to park at the pepsi center..... I do not want to stand around waiting for a train!!!! :twocents:

Hope everyone is staying warm and safe at home. I'm west of SLC and we got the beginnings of this storm yesterday. Now the tempurature will go down to about -8 degrees tonight. Windchill even colder. Tonight I saw a frostbite and death warning issued. The other day I half caught a blip about this storm on TV. The phenomenon is called a deformity? I'm sure that's describing alot of trees right now.

Great, Noddy. Now I will be obsessively watching that instead of prepping my lecture.

(B/c I know how these things run - if I don't prep, it won't be cancelled. If I do prep, it will. Yes, even the weather revolves around my crappy luck.)

So you're to blame for this crazy weather huh? Actually, I'm obsessively listening to the Radio Reference for the Chicago police. It's sadly entertaining. Quite the characters and they're not having a good time.

So now you can prep, watch the radar and listen to the police. I'm bad.

Street is plowed but I can not see the driveway. Looks like it was never plowed earlier.

With the wind whipping around the corner of my building there is almost no snow in my immediate front yard area- but what looks like 18+" drifts not far. If this wind does not slow down and there is no new snow in my front yard there will be tears and possibly a lot of tears from my 8 yr old in the morning. But mommy why did the snow all blow away from our front yard and no one elses! Now I am praying for some snow to get back in our front yard!

Kids are so excited about this and it would suck if our yard area was depleted due to the wind.

It looks like all of our snow has been blown into drifts, as well. I also pray you get some snow to stick, but in this wind, I'm not sure any snow is going to stick in any one spot that isn't a drift! Maybe your son can play in the drifts. They are fun to sled down!

Looks like the storm is giving us a miss. We're not getting much, and now the forecast has calmed down.

I knew if I slacked off and didn't prepare enough, this would happen. :sigh:
