Groundhog Day Storm May Affect More than 100 Million People

Oh man, I am getting really tired of this. Our dusting this afternoon turned into 4+ inches, BUT after it fell, it warmed enough to halfaway melt, then promptly plummet the temps to below freezing, so we got the solid ice. All of this happened while I was at work. And yep, on my way home, I rear ended someone. Luckily not much damage, I was going really slow, lol..... And the guy was really nice, seemed more concerned with my freak out crying session than anything else :floorlaugh: It was the first time I have caused an accident :banghead:


And another round is coming on Mon night. A lot worse, with -10 temps. OH JOY :banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:

Everyone be so careful walking, driving, everything! This winter is so weird!!! And everyone who has already been injured, I hope you heal quickly, and give yourselves lots of rest!!!!!

I just totally wiped out on a thick sheet of ice while shoveling. Snapped the shovel in half trying to catch myself. Ouch. New body parts are hurting every few minutes. My dog ran over to check on me though, which was sweet.

God bless you! Please rest and get medical attention with any pain that does not go away with rest. My youngest daughter (now age 29) lost her footing on ice at age 16 and has serious back problems to this day. I have slid on ice and did not even feel the fall until my head cracked the pavement. This weather in the midwest is so dangerous as it is hard to even get in and out of our homes let alone clear a path for ourselves, neighbors, mail delivery, etc.

Sending prayers your way for healing and hopefully spring weather soon! We have had a harsh winter.

I refused to even go out the door yet. IT IS SNOWING AGAIN!:maddening:
Everytime I get mad, I try to remember that I've lived this way all my life. Doesn't help much.

ETA: I just found out two of my Aunts fell in the storm and seriously injured their hand and wrists! Geez.

I attempted to go out cuz I lost track of the puppy and thought he may have gotten caught in a drift. First thing I did was slide across the driveway, managed to not fall tho.
THEN the pup comes running. We're still inside altho he's starting to want out again.:maddening:
Hope your Aunties are ok. Dr.s are gonna be busy this week.

I made my special homemade chili today and a variety of cheeses, It's really good...Uncle Sooner said it was so good I should consider selling it.....NO THANKS...I'm retired... LOL If Uncle Sooner even mentions going out I'm gonna smack him!

I will post the recipe in the cooking thread if anyone wants it....I'm a Texas gal...and we do Chili well lol

It's so cold, here, they've delayed all the schools this morning. To make matters worse, my furnace just burned out from running all night. I woke up to a horrible smell and a cold house.

We just had our 4th winter storm in a year here in SE NC. Heck we are lucky to have that many winter storms in a decade in these parts!

Thanks, wm! They will look at it in a couple hours. I hope it isn't expensive or a major repair!

The cold is affecting my elderly dog's arthritis, too.

DK, I empathize with your dog. I have arthritis (the autoimmune kind) and the cold winter in the south this year has caused much inflammation in my joints....ouchie! Glad to hear your heat will be repaired soon and hope it doesn't set you back too much. Hang in there everyone. Spring is right around the corner! (she says as she puts on her long johns and slinks out of the room.....)

You just had an EARTHQUAKE on top of all that snow? That beats thundersnow, lol.

Praise the Lord my furnace just came on to give a respite from the cold! It still has to be looked at, but the house is warming up! Thanks for the prayers! :woohoo:
