Logan's family says his 11 y/o sister threw herself at attacker & screamed for help. More on why she's called a hero:http://bit.ly/1PPze9z

So this guy stabbed a sleeping boy but he doesn't kill the 11 y/o sister who tried to stop him? It wouldn't surprise me if this monster is closer to this family than we know now. My hinky meter is spinning like a top.

They are saying he is a stranger to the family. But my hinky meter is off the charts.

Interesting re: hinky meter....mine is quiet as a mouse.

I'm with you on this one. I am thinking 1) meth or 2) psychotic break. I think the victim is a random innocent. And I think the reason the girl survived is that the perp was, for whatever reason, focused on the boy. She was just in the way, so to speak, and then daddy arrived.

Or he wanted to get out of there with THAT girl...alive????? I don't know.

If anything, I'm thinking bath salts.

Mine too.

Other than about him anyway, because wth isn't hinky about him.

Stop it! :floorlaugh: I needed that. I'm gonna see if I can find anything else out. I can't stand to see his thread buried.

This is so tragic and bizarre. Not a lot of crimes on here make sense, but usually a motive is somewhere in there....this just seems so completely off the wall. I don't know what to say other than RIP little man.

This is just so horridly brutal and unforgivable. I just cannot understand how a father, a RN, a human being, could stab a 6 yr old innocently sleeping in his bed.

Police: Why did stranger from Indiana kill kindergartner?
VERSAILLES, Ky. - The stabbing death of a kindergartner asleep in his home has plunged this Kentucky town into mourning, and shaken neighbors are rallying around the family even as they worry about their security. A man from Indiana described by authorities as having no apparent ties to the town or family has been charged with murder.

A 6-year-old boy was stabbed to death on early Monday morning after a man allegedly broke into his family's Versailles, Kentucky, home and attacked him while he was sleeping, PEOPLE confirms.

Ronald Exantus, 32, is charged with murder and burglary for allegedly killing kindergartner Logan Tipton as he slept. He is being held at the Woodford County Detention Center on $1 million bail.

ETA. "I have discussed various things with him on two separate occasions this morning and he's not able to really discuss anything; he's not here," attorney Bridget Hofler told reporters following Exantus' arraignment on Monday, according to The Indianapolis Star.

So it's the mental,*he's not here* defense. But I think she may be right.

I love that picture. They retired his helmet! What a sweet thing to do.

Oh that picture just made me cry. Such a precious little boy, so cute in his little uniform.

I don't know much about the psychology behind a mental break, but is it something that just happens in a split second? Or are there typically red flags? I wonder if he had any issues at work? I need to go back and read again about what type of nurse he was. Very rarely do I feel an insanity plea is legitimate, but from what we know so far(which isn't a lot) I think this may be one of those cases, although I will remain on the fence until we know more, as I do believe there may be more layers to this.

The dimples on his chubby little hands though. I just can't. Rest in peace little man. So sorry this happened to you.

As for the killer, I really think this one really is insane. Something happened. Brain tumor? Brain Damage from when he played football? Undiagnosed psychosis? On his Facebook his friends are expressing disbelief. He has 3 children!!!!
