From 29 News: Commonwealth’s Attorney for Nelson County Anthony Martin has released a statement in response to Michael Hallahan’s statement Thursday regarding reopening the Randy Taylor/Alexis Murphy case.
In the statement Martin says “The Nelson County Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office, The Nelson County Sheriff’s Office, FBI and Virginia State Police again maintain that there is no credible evidence linking Jesse Leroy Matthew, Jr. for the abduction and murder of Alexis Murphy in which Randy Taylor was convicted.”
“At no time did the name Jesse Leroy Matthew, Jr. ever come up by Randy Taylor or Mr. Hallahan until Mathew’s arrest in Hannah Graham several days ago.”
“However, in order to dispel any further speculation, I will be meeting in the coming days with investigators in the Murphy case to address the concerns outlined in Mr. Hallahan’s recent letter. Even though the evidence on Randy Taylor and Randy Taylor alone in the Alexis Murphy case is clear, the Commonwealth will make sure that scientific testing is done in order to bring closure to the speculation.”

Being a lawyer, I want to point out that they probably know each other just from practicing criminal defense in the same area. Law can be a close-knit community, in smaller states.
That said...assuming the photo is recent...it's pretty insensitive to be seen out laughing together, under the circumstances.
And the shoe part...I have no explanation.

All of the physical evidence at trial showing a violent struggle was located inside Randy Taylors camper. This physical evidence consisted of a diamond stud, a fingernail fragment, a long black hair that showed signs of being forcibly removed, all of which had Alexis Murphys DNA and were found on the floor of Randy Taylors camper and the hair was found on Randy Taylors pillow.
Alexis Murphys shattered cellphone was found in the brush outside Randy Taylors camper. The blue T-shirt that Randy Taylor was seen wearing at the Liberty gas station on August 3rd when he was seen talking with Alexis Murphy, was found under Randy Taylors sofa inside his camper. That shirt contained Alexis Murphys blood and had hair extensions and false eyelashes that had Alexis Murphys DNA and Randy Taylors DNA balled up inside the shirt.
Randy Taylor was then seen at Applebees Restaurant around 10:00 p.m. August 4th approximately 15 minutes after Alexis Murphys vehicle was seen pulling in the Carmike parking lot within walking distance of Applebees. Taylor then got a cab ride back to Nelson County, and refused to give authorities the name of the person who drove him down to Charlottesville that evening. The cab drivers name was John Sapp who testified at trial.
Randy Taylor denied ever going to Liberty gas station on August 3rd and denied ever seeing Alexis Murphy. Only after authorities found forensic evidence, putting Alexis Murphy inside his camper, did Randy Taylor admit that Alexis Murphy was in his camper but was with a third person. According to Randy Taylor, the black guy with cornrows and Alexis Murphy left in separate vehicles and everything was fine.
Within days after Randy Taylors arrest for abduction of Alexis Murphy, Randy Taylor and Mr. Hallahan, his attorney, were 100% certain that the black male that Alexis Murphy left with was Dameon Bradley, a thin light-skinned black male, who drove a maroon Chevy caprice. Mr. Hallahan provided law enforcement with a photo of Dameon Bradley who looks absolutely nothing like Jesse Leroy Matthew, Jr. Dameon Bradley testified at Taylors trial that he did know Alexis Murphy and they were only friends and he worked at the McDonalds at the Liberty gas station which is a place that Randy Taylor frequented on a daily basis.
At no time did the name Jesse Leroy Matthew, Jr. ever come up by Randy Taylor or Mr. Hallahan until Mathews arrest in Hannah Graham several days ago.
Nelson County authorities have not received any information from investigators in the Jesse Leroy Matthew, Jr. case that links him in any way to the abduction and murder of Alexis Murphy. At this point I think the smart thing to do is compare DNA evidence just so they know where to go from here. Otherwise it will always be out there "what if he was connected to ______ too?" Now they'll know and they can proceed based on whatever the results may be
Samantha Clarke's mother may have some answer's as to whether JLM Jr was one of the two men with RAT, at the bar, the night SC met RAT. She has said that RAT was with two men and one man was there with his girlfriend. One of those two male associates came home with SC, to her mother's home, that first night. IIRC, the following night Samantha went out on some repos with RAT and at least one of those two other men.
Yesterday, it was reported that JLM did have a girlfriend for nearly four years who broke up with him about two months before Hannah Graham went missing. Four years before HG went missing was September 13, 2010. That is the same night that Samantha was last seen. My money is on RAT's friend, with the girlfriend, being JLM Jr....just a gut feeling. . It would be nice if someone could get feedback on JLM Jr. from Samantha Clarke's mother

I honestly don't think JM and RAT even knew each other. RAT wants everyone to believe someone else had to have something to do with these cases because he wants to be set free again. He's just as psycho as JM IMO. They both need help and need to learn how to take responsibility for their own actions. You make the bed you lie in it. They sound like spoiled babies who had someone take their toy and now they're crying because they want it back. Sorry boys this time it's serious! These are humans, not my little ponies!
I could be wrong, I have been before I'm sure but I just don't think that JM killed or was involved in killing EVERYONE (at least not Samantha Clarke) in VA....RAT is a liar!
They both are beyond 'help' - they need extraction from society, permanently - by injection, electrocution or incarceration. If the latter, bad mattresses for JLM for sure.
He was a DA and a really bad one, according to the opposition he received when he ran for office. He was really bad. Seriously bad. Just google him and read about some of the cases he refused to prosecute and the slime he let back on the streets.
