KC spoke with TE. Asked if he owned the vehicle. Asked if he knew why it was at PTL and if he knew who drove the car.

TE stated his daughter, Heather, drove the car, and he didn't know why it was there. He last spoke to his daughter the night of the 17th.

TE had an extra key, so the two of them went to the landing, and TE unlocked the vehicle.

Both KC and TE wore gloves when they touched the car, in an "abundance of caution."

The interior of the car was a "mess." You could sit in the driver's seat, but you would have to empty any other seat to sit in one of them.

When KC and TE returned to TE's home, TE provided KC with phone records, which he did not inspect at that time.

KC reached out to BW, Heather's roommate, on her cell phone.

KC also reached out to SS, Heather's date from that evening.

He was able to speak to both.

Cross:

KC states he knew TE relatively well at the time but did not have his phone number.
KC knew Heather grew up in Horry County, but he didn't know of any connection she may have had to PTL.
When KC and TE went to PTL, he was only investigating a missing person, but he did not suspect a crime; he was just looking for clues as to where Heather may be.

KC states that one of the other officers said to SM if he knows where Heather is, he needs to tell them and not hinder the investigation.

KC states TE had already contacted SM at that time, and SM took that phone call to be confrontational. SM called 911 after the call from TE, which is why SM states he was outside waiting for the officers when they arrived.

Re-direct (Helms):

Helms asks about the "hindering the investigation" comment, and KC states it was due to inconsistencies in SM's statements.
Re: TE giving KC the phone records - it was voluntarily to help locate his daughter.

Recess for about 10-15 minutes
