https://www.facebook.com/mikesweatherpage/videos/10155496504777367/We are in south Georgia (Lee County) put our local officials have been advising us since Monday to be prepared for we will have some affects from this hurricane. We are about 150 miles away from the east coast and about 90 miles from the Florida Gulf. I am extremely worried for all of my family who lives here. We have suffered damage before from Hurricanes coming in from the Atlantic or Gulf when the swath of the hurricane was vast, like Irma. I have seen some of the string models showing it can hit around Jacksonville and then come right up into the area where we live.
Also, as you and I discussed previously, one of our daughters, hubby and two grandchildren live right outside of Charleston. They are watching the reports closely and told us they will most likely start trying to come to our area on Friday or even tomorrow to beat the traffic which is more inland since they live so close to the beach in SC. The last time they had to do this it took them hours and hours to get here due to the traffic being backed up for miles on end.
One of our other daughters and granddaughter both live in the Mexico Beach area of Florida. They have already boarded both of their homes up and are also coming to stay with family in Georgia.
I have been constantly watching the weather channel this morning and one of the leading experts said the thing to watch for is which side of the hurricane hits all of these islands/countries as it makes its way toward the USA. As each are hit and where they got the main brunt of Irma will determine the path its going to take as it barrels toward the states.
We have so many other family members who live in Florida on the coast so we are worried about them, and for everyone who may be in the path of this monster hurricane.
The thing I worry about most here is the strong tornadoes and straight line winds that can come from this hurricane. I don't think it will stall like it did with Harvey or when Alberto hovered over us for over a week in 1994 causing massive flood damage and loss of life.
I am praying for everyone who may be in Irma's path. Please be safe and heed the warnings of federal, state, and local officials. Irma is going to be very unforgiving once she hits us I am afraid.
