What do they do with the prisoners and staff? Thinking of the Sievers Gang.

I do have local news on in background. But it has, when they go live, for a hurricane, always amused me

6:00 We go now live to Dale in Daytona.... bla bla bla

6:12 We go now to Dale in daytona bla bla bla

Now the real report at 6:12 should go like: Well Bob, not much has changed in the last 666 seconds! As you know Bob , hurricanes are not like airplanes. Hurricane Mathew has moved 16 feet since we last spoke. I will go out on a limb and state that there have been no massive changes in wind speeds, nor has Mathew changed its course and is now heading for RUssia. I will be back with all the latest in 20 minutes, back to you Bob!

Or live when its actually landfalling

6:00 Well, Bob it is windy and raining as hurricane Mathew makes landfall. Back to you bob

6:12 We now go live ....

Well Bob, it is, as you know, a hurricane and a hurricane consists of winds and rains. It is windy and raining here Bob. I ll be back with the latest in just a moment.

 CARIIS ---- Thank you for starting the thread...& for keeping it mooooooooving :cow:

I'm safe out here but I have one daughter and her family in Miami and another daughter and her family in West Palm Beach. Both have shuttered their houses and I'm sure they'll be okay - they went through Hurricane Andrew with me so they take the warnings seriously. Still, I worry. And yeah, after the big blow the lack of electricity and water is the real problem.

Thanks for starting the thread Coldpizza! It's comforting to know I can sit with y'all and wring my hands if I need to. Stay safe everyone!

I sure appreciate that MsMarple...lol.

:banghead:

It's been one of THOSE DAYS again...

:blushing:

Forgive me coldpizza...it's you I should be thanking as the REAL thread opener - much thanks to YOU!!!

CARIIS...still & always appreciate you being here. :yourock:

What do they do with the prisoners and staff? Thinking of the Sievers Gang.

(Ugh, flashbacks of Katrina, when the police evidence lab/storage got destroyed, so as a result many violent offenders walked free...iirc DNA evidence, etc. was lost...)

Hunker down and stay safe, everyone.

(Not sure if it was posted already, but did you guys see the satellite image that looked like a skull? It's floating around somewhere...)

Actually, I take that back after reading the latest article on CNN...DON'T hunker down, lol...

"State officials in Florida, South Carolina and Georgia cautioned residents not to hunker down at home if they live in the hurricane's potential path."

2 million told to flee

I dont think it could be. When you have a satliite image it all one color. The red surounding the satelite pic would not be there, nor would you see the eye that way with the red in the middle. The red models are different kind of radar so I dont understand the red where the eye is??

It takes a sec for ya to see florida - but look at the steering currents . It is neat stuff to see the hurricane actually drives down the lane! You can slow down the animation - if makes it a bit easier! .Cant figure out when it last ran - but that is where he is . What is really curious of you look at the last iimage of the run -it really looks like its got some really strong steering currents going totally west. I wonder if the parttern is just gonna totally change, casue it sure seems like if the steeriing currents are gonna be like that , it seems that it would push it into south fl no?

The only thing I can think of is they know the steering current will move north before he gets closer ?

Nasa says it is real, but it has been tweaked. So, it is photoshopped.

GRRRR!
I live one block from the ocean in Myrtle Beach, SC, and I've wavered back and forth on leaving. I can't figure out at what point I must decide. Of course, I'll leave the minute a mandatory evacuation is ordered. I live within the first zone that would be asked to leave and already have my bags packed if that occurs.

Yesterday, I was certain I would leave and I'd made plans to do so, but after the forecast models today suggested the storm would probably shift westward near the FL/GA border, I decided to stay. Now, I'm leaning back towards leaving (due to the increase in intensity and the inconsistent forecast models that seem to change on what feels like an hourly basis).

I can definitely tell a lot of people have already left though because there was significantly less traffic around town today than usual. So, hopefully, the traffic won't be a TOTAL nightmare if and/or when I do leave.
