Waterloo Police asking for help locating 49-year-old man

Darrin R. Lenton, 49, was last contacted on July 3 via phone, possibly while in the Riverview Recreation Area in Waterloo.

A worker found an almost complete set of skeletal remains in a pond inside the facility on Easton Avenue around noon Monday.

The location where the remains were found is a short distance from the Riverview Recreation Area, where a Waterloo man disappeared in 2021.

Darrin Russell Lenton placed his last cell phone calls from the area, which is adjacent to the Cedar River and includes Harold Getty Lake, on July 3, 2021. Lenton was 49 when he disappeared.

The remains appeared to have been there for a long period of time, and the identity and cause of death aren’t known.
