I am not SAR but sarx explained this in the sierra lamar case: the dogs look for the freshest scent.

We asked the question how the dogs could track her if she walked to the bus every morning and he replied that the dogs are able to track the freshest scent. So even if the girls had been there day in and day out the dogs would follow fresh scent.

I hope that makes sense?

Yes but did the dogs track to the dock from where the bikes were? Or were they taken around the lake looking for a scent. And did they track anywhere near the bikes?

Those posts were specifically about people speculating on the PARENT'S demeanor.

The information I posted (and eventually backed up with references) speaks for itself.

I have made it quite clear that I do not believe the parents are involved with this in any way. That is MY opinion. If other people see things in the parent's behavior that they believe is odd or surprising, I see no problem with them discussing it. Again, in my opinion.

These forums and threads are read by a lot of people, including all too often the parents, relatives, and friends of victims. In many cases, even if they have an airtight alibi, they are likely to see themselves scrutinized and even occassionally villified -- Debby Irwin comes immediately to mind. My hope is that those parents who see themselves being unjustly suspected take what comfort they can find in knowing that we, unlike many, do not stop there. We follow wherever the evidence seems to lead, our only desire is justice for their child, and if that pursuit threatens the feelings of those friends and family, my hope is that they too see this as a small price to pay in that pursuit.

said elizabeth would never go to that lake without an adult. says lyric and eliz have never gone that far before.

But they did. And according to a witness they did it daily. Well at least one of them did. So it appears the parent's were not aware of what the girls were doing on their bike rides.

I have no idea... only what the aunt said.

(was just explaining what sarx taught about fresh scent...)

the reporter on the live updates did say they may discuss it at the presser

(where dogs went) but then again they may not.

that witness is one mile from the lake and the article quoted him as saying they would turn around normally at the end of his street

(eta: 1.5 miles)

They were also chatting with people on these trips. :( See previous interview with man who watered his lawn on the afternoon when they went missing.

The witness lives 1.5 miles from Elizabeth's house. And the end of his street is pretty much at the lake. :(

I'm starting to hate flip flops!!! I think this is the third case where victims wore flip flops. Other evidence found but not their shoes.

I just don't get it. Flip flops can be so easily taken off if there is a struggle of some sort (stranger abduction).

IMO, if the girls were snatched, it was someone they knew and they may have willingly went along with them. No struggle until it was too late. It would explain the missing flip flops.

:moo:

This is my belief as well.

I am now wondering how often the girls have visited that lake, and who exactly they might have gotten to know there. I suspect that someone who frequents that lake, someone they have seen and perhaps even spoken to in the past, has them.

He also said they turned around there....

I guess we just don't know with all the conflicting reporting right now.

Either way, hopefully Sarx will pop in to discuss fresh scent and how the dogs do it.

Gee all this waiting and watching gives me a big ole stomach ache. Even the above makes me wince, however Im not accusing the neighbor at all. Simply hoping the girls are found soon, alive and well.

Haven't read everything to know if this was already posted, but if both descriptions are right, I think these must be the flip-flops....they are both Sesame Street AND purple with diamond shapes.

A good example of how witnesses can see the same thing and pick out different details to describe the same item.

Do these come in women's sizes? Neither of those girls would be wearing a toddler sized shoe -and- IMO I find it very hard to believe that this style would be made to fit women sizes.

I know this has been talked about many times but I know the FBI or others that came up with the microchip for pets can come up with something for our children, something in their body that would ping off a tower or a GPS, I know this would not keep them from being abducted but at least they could be found quickly. I swear if I knew someone that could do this I would do it for my granddaughters, you can tell them about stranger danger but it is not enough, this would have to be inexpensive so all could have this device and you know insurance would not cover it, I bet John Walsh could get this done. I am so serious about this, my heart just breaks when children are hurt and their family, I would never make it through this horror. Is it a possibility? One child not brought home is one child too many.

The problem is how would such a chip be powered?

Animal microchips have no power at all. They are powered by the scanner bouncing a radio wave into the skin of the animal, the teeny weeny wire antenna picks up that energy and uses it to broadcast a number back to the scanner.

The range on scanners is less than three inches.

If the chip antenna were scaled up to be able to absorb radio waves from a cell tower or satellite, the chip would get so physically hot the unfortunate person would be severely burned.

That's where batteries come in handy. Tracking units currently available all run off of batteries and require relatively frequent re-charges (charges last in the range of days, not months).

Batteries that can be implanted in the human body are pretty low power. How often are you willing to subject yourself or your children to surgery to change the battery? Keeping in mind that *every* surgery has the risk of bad results up to and including death.

There are tracker units that are about the size of a small powder compact and the batteries last for a week or so. You do have to buy a plan to use with the tracker, the same way you have to have a plan for a GPS direction thingie in a car.

Of course, then you have the problem of making sure it is always with the person it is meant for. Bringing this back around to this case, Lyric had a cell phone... but didn't take it with her.

Here is a picture from Bing of the path/road that cuts through from S. Evans to the bike trail.

I do believe the girls came down Lake Ave (where the man was watering the lawn) and cut thru where Evans and Arbutus meet.

Only on this day apparently they didn't because I don't think he saw them go by again. And it's very close to where the bikes were found. So what happened at the end of the street?

Wonder why she didn't take her cell ?

That's what the mother said. And I believe the witness said the girls would turn around and ride their bikes back where they came from. Not sure if that is all the time or not.

where is the road work happening? I know this is a file photo.
