What confuses me is, Heather and Dan actually raised Lyric for a good chunk of time.

I would consider my niece as my daughter...in fact I pretty much do.

I would wish them to be together even in remembrance.

Lyric was raised by the entire family, it seems strange that she is excluded from the celebration...to me, anyway.

I understand your point, but everything so far has been "Lyric and Elizabeth" - fundraisers, vigils, etc. Now that the girls are gone, it seems fitting to me that Drew and Heather want to do something just for Elizabeth to celebrate her life. Sure, they loved Lyric, but Elizabeth was their child and they want to honor her alone, not as part of "Lyric and Elizabeth". JMO

But I will feel awful if nothing special is done for poor little Lyric at some point.

I am way behind too, just started reading. But in the video they discuss the week prior and the girls were at a park and wandered off, or were playing as kids do and mom couldn't find them and called dad. He said call the police and as soon as the police arrived the girls came walking up. So he thought this was the same thing when she called him again that they were missing. Crazy how it sorts of forshadows the next event. Dad was at his mom's house with the son, taking a nap. I wonder if the week prior the perp may have made contact with the girls at that park and told them not to say anything? He may have promised them something and set up a meeting with them and then took them the next time. :waitasec:

I'm just catching up, so forgive me if this has already been discussed. I've always thought this could be related to why the girls disappeared. Maybe even the RSO everyone is discussing if he lived in Waterloo, then. Is that address near the park they were supposed to be at? Greenbrier Park was it? Lyric may have had more contact than her cousin knows & told the perp she would be in Evansdale on that Friday. I do think though if Lyric & her cousin were talking to anyone that they just befriended, she would have told LE that if it would help & be related to the kidnapping.Even if she was scared she would get in trouble.:moo:

I think that's what I meant.

I think Drew and Heather have every right to whatever celebration they choose...please don't misunderstand.

It just seems that Lizzie had everything a child could want or need in her life, and now in death, but Lyric has always had the short straw.

:(

I agree. It may not have been my choice in those shoes, but it is not for me to judge what any of these parents do in this regard while they are wearing them.

I follow. Lyric did indeed appear to have a harder row to hoe. I do not doubt she was loved and valued. It is so fortunate she had her aunts and grandma to provide stability when mom and dad were not.

WOW! First time I'm hearing about the guy found under a bridge. SUPER CREEPY as wasn't it the Craigslist poster (?) who had initially said something about checking bridges for the girls??

Please let me set the record straight on this before I get quoted as saying there is some connection between the body found under the bridge and this case.

I was simply posting links in response to someone's question about the body found under the bridge, and another body found in a driveway in Cedar Rapids.

I see no connection, I was just being helpful to a fellow poster.

That comment brought tears to my eyes, I don't know why it hit me so hard.

I'm bored waiting for new info. Do y'all want to talk about paddle boats or pigs? :floorlaugh:

Would you be shocked to learn my vote is paddle boats? :great:

She was 4'11" and the size of her feet would have been proportional to her height. She would not be wearing adult size shoes.

A girls size 4 is the same as a woman's size 6. I have an 11yr old daughter. Sometimes I buy her women's size small for slippers, flip flops, etc instead of the girl's x-tra large, because they are easier to find.

According to the early descriptions, these are the flip flops Lyric was last seen in. . .

Elizabeth Collins is 4’1” tall, weighs 80 lbs, with sandy hair and blue eyes. She was last seen wearing a white shirt, shorts and black tennis shoes or high tops.

Lyric Cook is 4’11” tall, weighs 145 lbs, with brown chin-length hair, blue eyes, tanned skin, and a mole on the back of her neck the size of a dime. She was last seen wearing a light green shirt, shorts, and black flip flops that form a Sesame Street character when put together.

I tried to say it as non-offensively as I could, but I am so mad on her behalf right now, with some of the people who were supposed to care for her.

Yes, his home and business address are one and the same. IIRC, it was reported some time ago that Drew left for work at 6:15 am that awful day.

I assume that meant he was out in the field at a job site.

I think I remember Wylma saying that Drew came home in the mean time & she went out looking for the girls. He probably was coming home b/c she was going to do something with TB IIRC.

This case is very interesting because we have two victims, with two sets of close relatives.

It is a rare chance to compare LE behaviour in regards to the parents of a missing child.

Drew and Heather have not even been touched by so much as a feather by LE, yet Misty and Dan were treated very, very aggressively.

I wonder why...

my grand daughter is that size and I am 5 feet.....we wear the same size
7.5 woman shoes and 8 flip flops???

I too had never heard of Dan having a partner.

From the body language, I suspect he and Misty were back together at the time...at least secretly.

I think that although they have a troubled history, Misty and Dan have a hard time staying away from each other. JMO.

I have been away Christmas shopping and trying to catch up. I don't see any new info, is that right?

Did I understand correctly that there is a group of perps with a cast fetish, seriously?!

sorry, I was gone all day...yes, can you believe how sick that is??
we were all shocked too, they actually put casts on themselves just for the heck of it!!
and of course are "attracted" to us real cast people!!
