So, they left at 11:30...last seen by Grandma at 12:15, but was told to call Mom if they left before 1:30! So...does that mean they thought they had until 1:30 to ride? :waitasec:

I think so, or atleast stealing a little time before being back home and not in too much trouble. If they left for the lake at 12:15 then they may have thought they could be back very near 12:30 or a little later without major bells going off with Gma. Remember......Heather wasn't home and Dan was home sick...only Gma's wrath to deal with really....and Lyric knew at the latest she had to be there by 1:30. It would be nice to know how long Lyric and her other cousin were absent the week before in Waterloo before the alarms started going off for the adults to start making calls to Dan an LE. ?

Yes we'd like to know! :websleuther:

Just wondering...what makes you think they thought they had to be back by 12:30? I was guessing maybe they thought 1:30 unless TOLD otherwise, as that was when Grandma wanted to leave to go to meet Tammy and Lyric was to call Mom to let her know where to pick her up after getting off work at 2:00.
:waitasec:

Just a guess, but the thread is straying onto dangerous ground.

It's about time. :)

HINKY is right. This case stinks to high heaven. There are already too many unexplained inaccuracies for my liking.

Not exactly 12:30, but was just using the 15 minutes increments. I do believe she wanted them to have lunch/snack and clean up before she had to leave for Evansdale to meet Tammy.... that's JMO. This video at the .26 mark talks about the timeline. Wylma says at 12:30 Heather got home and they began the search for the girls.

I don't think I have ever read it this concise or with these times for that matter. If this was the first time I ever read anything about the timeline, then the timeline would make perfect sense without any confusion. The problem is that this isn't the first time I have read anything about the timeline and I have heard so many other times (verified or not). So let's say we took this as the definitive timeline and discarded anything else; I still have questions. What nearby intersection? Spotted by who? What road by the lake? Seen by who? Which directions were traveling when spotted and seen?

If you click on the link to the report the "were spotted" is a hyperlink to the CCTV video of the girls and is implying that video capturing them is the nearby intersection...so THAT is the 12:23 time (according to this report anyway).:great:

But to me this means spotted by who? SURVAILLANCE! and nearby intersection (assuming Brovan and River Forest...is that right?)

Doesn't help by not telling us what road by the lake they were on though...

While reading here again today, an idea hit me. Is it possible that the girls poured themselves a drink and happened to see someone out the window? They may have asked to go for a bike ride to go talk to the person. If he/she was heading over to the parking lot where they normally rode, it wouldn't be obvious to anyone from the house who happened to see where they headed. One of them may have been riding around while the other one talked to the person - possibly just out of disinterest.

That person could have given a reason to go to the lake, and set things in motion from there. I can't get past thinking it would have to mean that Elizabeth was the target, partially because the smaller biker in the video seemed to be in the lead. It's also been said by many people how friendly she was, and I would expect her to have talked to most people who live in or frequent her neighborhood at least a couple times.

Oh no :banghead:...I'm not meaning to stray...I am speculating on how much time the girls may have thought they had to ride!!

I'm just thinking that maybe they didn't think they needed to be back until Mom was coming to pick them up at 1:30 so they wouldn't have checked in before that.

I've never seen any transcripts that I'm contradicting or indicating anyone is lying...I'm wondering if there is any MSM links with details about the morning and if the girls were told what time to be home and I missed it. Sorry...

I know I'm really late with this comment, but thought I'd try to help you appreciate your weather a little bit more. A couple days ago, it got down to -15F (which is around -24 C) here. I usually think I'd prefer my weather to yours, but a lot of people would prefer the heat to the cold.

sorry guys I wasn't trying to boast...it pretty much gets like the 9th circle of hell here after a few days of heatwave.

My bff lives in NZ and hates the heat, she is horrified every time I tell her the temperature. I actually left NZ to get away from the cold.

I have never been in temperatures like you guys describe and I think I'd rather take the 9th circle. I have childhood memories of walking to school through the snow and got chilblains one year.

Anyway....back to our girls.

There are, I've linked them not far back, and they pose more questions than they answer IMO.

:furious:

They are releasing them to the local press in each community where the perps are suspected to live. Here is the one that went out to my local community this morning:

They don't know the name of the woman involved, but they have her photo, and descriptions of her tattoos. Hopefully someone will be able to identify her from this info and she can be found and arrested.

I recall a while back in not the same as the Cousins a diffrent county a young boy was walking with his bike and the woman ran after him and tried to get him into the vechicle the boy yelled and his dad was out there running towards his son the woman had tatoo's on her wrist ? Does any one elese remember that ?

Yep...that was right here in Cedar Rapids over on the west side. The little boy was riding his bike, the van pulled over and the woman got out and tried to pull him off! His dad was on a motorcycle riding by him and he was able to wrestle the boy away! He identified her as having a tattoo on her hand. I was so sad he didn't get the license. :(

Wasn't he the guy who waited 16 hours to report it?

The rash of "attempted abductions" were mostly misunderstandings of one sort or another IIRC.

BBM

I think the key to the mystery MIGHT be in that parking lot area. I think they might have befriended someone who hung out there. Maybe an employee taking smoke breaks, or sitting in their car for lunchtime.

I know that when my DS used to work at a restaurant he used to sit in his car during his breaks, and he said there was a whole little world going on in the strip mall parking lots.

Snipped etc by me. Plenty more at the link.

WC And so it was at 11:30, they asked me if they could go for a short bike ride, and I said yes. And they`ve done this millions of times. And they`ve never, never went that far. I could go outside and yell their names, and they would eventually hear me.

NG We are taking your calls. Out to Ms. Wylma Cook. Ms. Cook is the grandmother of 8-year-old Elizabeth and 10-year-old Lyric. Ms. Cook, you were taking me through that morning. So they asked to go and ride their bikes, and that`s about what time?

COOK: 11:30.

GRACE: 11:30.

COOK: And Lyric knew that we were going to be heading for home at 1:30 because her mom got off at 2:00.

http://edition.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/1207/17/ng.01.html

Also Misty says -

COOK-MORRISSEY: Just the normal image, don`t be gone very long and we realized they left 11:30. By 12:30, we were not happy because they weren`t back. And that`s when Kelly, my 12-year-old grandson from Heather`s house, the dad was home so we went searching right away and by 2:00, Heather couldn`t find them either so she went straight to the police station and the police went out right away.

So that would imply to me that they were expecting them sometime before 12.30, say 12 or 12.15.

I find it odd that Misty includes herself in the "we were not happy" when she was at work, oblivious. She didn't know Lyric was missing until about 2pm.

A couple...boy riding bike and dad following behind on motorcycle. They tried to nab him along with the bike. Yep.....and was a while before he reported it.

I may be repeating news but she was arrested last night! One gone, many to go.
