Yes, the wording in the article is contradictory. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the first case is the domestic violence charge ? So, do we know if the other three cases will be moved? This article doesn't clear things up very much. I'm confused again. :waitasec:

WATERLOO, Iowa --- Trial for the father of one of the abducted cousins has been moved out of Black Hawk County because of publicity over the girls’ disappearance.
District Court Judge David Staudt ruled that it would be unlikely to find an impartial jury in the state’s domestic abuse and drug cases against Daniel Eugene Morrissey, 36.

Elizabeth and Lyric both attended Waterloo schools, and the district provided counselors for students, teachers and staff to help address questions and grief following the girls&#8217; disappearance and the discovery of their bodies.

Poyner Elementary, while technically located in Evansdale, is part of the Waterloo School District. I believe there is only an elementary school in Evansdale, so junior high and high school students attend one of the district buildings in Waterloo.

As I was fixing lunch this afternoon I was thinking about the timing of the abduction and how it may or may not pertain. But something came to mind that I had not given any thought to, and that is the idea that Misty had just started her new job the same week and I think in one of the interviews she or a family member had said it was maybe her fifth day (on Friday, July 13th). And that prior to that she and Lyric had been swimming for like 6 weeks prior almost every day (not quoted, just from memory, can find link if needed). This is not directed at Misty or any family member, it is just something I thought might be of some importance, possibly some help, and maybe one of us may come up with some ideas related to this and/or related off of this thought. But is it possible that maybe the perp or perps had been thinking about abducting these two girls (or just Lyric) but didn't have quite the opportune time to suit them until he/she/they discovered that Misty was now working (possibly by being a customer where she works or possibly information relayed and/or discussed with no harm intended as in just casual conversation?) So perp or perps then pieced it together (or previously knew) that Misty would not be with Lyric all day and/or that she was going to Heather and Drew's with Wylma, and it would be easy to verify/reassure themselves that Misty was at work as all they would have to do is check at her place of employment. Also, maybe the perp or perps paid close enough attention intentionally to know what hours Misty worked which then in turn they knew they only had until 2 pm approximately to carry out their plans before Misty got off work??
I don't know, just throwing it out there as the thought had never occurred to me before now. We all want to figure out who did this to these two beautiful girls and sometimes I feel like I'm grasping at straws, as we know so little, but like all of us, I'm just hoping that we may come up with SOMEthing or ANYthing that may lead us in the right direction...

Smock said police still receive about three to four leads a day. Those numbers spiked last month after the girls&#8217; bodies were discovered.

Cedar Valley Crime Stoppers is offering a $150,000 reward for information leading to a conviction in the case. Late last year they raised another $20,500 for a separate reward to be given to anyone with information that results in an arrest.

Will that take another six months?

The article says "both girls attended the Waterloo schools".

What about someone in the school district? What about a teacher? Or maybe even a counselor who has spoke at home about the girls, or their family's struggles? A husband/son/extended family member who is privy to this knowledge?

Lyric currently lived in Waterloo and prior had lived in Evansdale with Heather and Drew. Both girls attended school in Waterloo. Lyric and another cousin were AWOL just prior in Watereloo.

I think if our perp is local he will be found to have ties to Evansdale, Waterloo, and the area around 7 Bridges, like Readlyn.

hmm. on the possible connection to schools/Waterloo, maybe a volunteer, a relative of school associate (as suggested above) or a school related program such as an afterschool care program, something of that nature.

ETA if the perp ends up being related to the schools then I would imagine that person is not a RSO as those individuals would be barred from being around or associated with any programs or places frequented by children.

Good to know they are not narrowing the possibilities, but more happy to see they have some direction. They have something. Praying. lease: This guy/girl/them...whoever needs to be off the streets not only for little Lizzie and Lyric, but for the whole community that has to be in limbo and worrying. GO KENT!!

You can follow the bike trail from town and end up back side of lake where the bikes were found. There is no trail going to the lake that leads to the front, parking lot. So he had to of been coming in from the east on the trail and would follow the trail to the front (parking lot) where the restrooms are. So I take it he came from the east and went west.

I believe in an earlier post it was stated which route TG took. Otto also created a map. I don't have time to search for it now, but I know we do have confirmed info on that. It may have been on the last thread, not this one.

Just call me Negative Nancy. I think the comments made in the article speak the same as we've had in the past from them...just worded differently. Vague, unpromising, and very typical LE talk.

That happens alot with more rural or smaller towned school districts round here as well. Thanks for helping me clear that up.

Honestly, Evansdale runs right into Waterloo, one minute your in Evansdale than your in Waterloo, there is no break between towns.

cindersoot, I have noticed how very close the two towns are and that prompts a question that you may be able to answer.

Did the two towns slowly grow closer to one another over time as they sprawled outward? If so, has there been any talk of annexing one into the other or them combining to become one township? As you say, they pretty much bleed into one another from the look of it.

Do they have separate city councils, agencies, etc or are some services combined like the school district thing because of the proximity?

Any other local who may know the answer is free to chime in as well. TIA

I wonder if it's possible the perp is in jail on other charges - probation violation, for instance? I read a story earlier today about a woman's body being found, her boyfriend gave inconsistent statements about where he last saw her, and he was driving her car. He was being held on "unrelated charges", later described as probation violation.

Perhaps LE is taking their time because their suspect is already behind bars and not going anywhere.

All I can say is Evansdale is a suburb of Waterloo, and I guess with time bleed into each other. I don't know if they have separate councils,agencies and so on.
