I'm still trying to get my head around a guy without a job who naps in the afternoons.
Dan wasnt working.
He was home taking a nap.
Which has ALWAYS made me wonder what exactly he was doing between being notified (around 2ish?) and arriving on the scene at around 5.
If this does end up being related to drugs I won't be surprised for one second if dirty cops aren't in on the meth/drug trafficking - inside the jails/prisons and out.
I've said from the beginning that I think this investigation has had entirely too many big "whoopsie's" that would make a prosecutor's case extremely difficult. Not to mention how sickeningly silent this whole case has been from day 1.
We here on WS could run down a list of people who've had serious charges brought against them and have either had them dropped or plead down to next to nothing and continue to walk the streets doing what they do...strange coincidence?
Broaden your view of who would potentially have motive, knows when these people have court, knows who's possibly going to smear your name and blow the whole thing wide open, throw you under the bus, knows these families, etc. and your list of who-done-it just widened significantly.
I'm not saying this is the most likely scenario...however, as I said above, IF this case does end up being drug related I think there is potential for some surprises in who knew/knows what.

I guess he worked nights.

Supposedly their last sighting was on camera when they were riding their bikes at a high speed away from the lake. Yet, we heard that the girls approached some boys at the back of a store (grocery?) where they asked directions to the lake. What if the boy's story was true? Would that have been before or after they were seen on the camera?
Elizabeth knew the way to the lake. She did get down near there often, according to some residents near the lake. Maybe she only knew the way she normally went, but not if she went on a different road?
Mr. X, who lives north of the lake, said he saw the girls between 12 and 3 p.m. while he was outside watering his yard.
“I was out watering my yard between 12 and 3:00 and the girls rode their bikes right by our house,” Mr. X said. He and his wife, Mrs. X, were at Meyers Lake this morning to observe the activity.
“We see them practically all the time ride their bikes right past our house, but they come down and turn around in the street,” he said.

If stolfus and/or beahr were in on this, I find it hard to believe they have not figured out their whereabouts and enough evidence on them by now?
yes, they surely had a motive, but dan changed his plea. Maybe they didn't believe him?
Or if their friends/relatives knew they were unaccounted for on 7/13, don't you think they would have gone to LE for the reward $$ by now?
Dan took the rap, the heat and all the prison time for all 3 of them combined.
I would think if Dan knew or suspected them, LE would surely know by now?? He's not going anywhere.
But, if they all were doing drugs at the time, who knows!
Last week, there was a shooting/robbery at Veridian credit union, maybe 1.5 miles west of Evansdale on Lafayette. There were lots of comments on Facebook about that area, much of that stretch of Lafayette from Evansdale to Waterloo has crack houses, etc. Don't really knows if that's true, but the comment up thread about the girls possibly being held in an abandoned house made me think.... Probably not to far from Stolfus's stomping grounds.

I am sorry for your loss of Dusty, Marilyn. The loss of a beloved pet hurts so bad, especially if you do not have any notice. I cannot imagine a world without pets; they are the only living creature that truly understands us!
The Rainbow Bridge (inspired by a Norse legend)
By the edge of a woods, at the foot of a hill,
Is a lush, green meadow where time stands still.
Where the friends of man and woman do run,
When their time on earth is over and done.
For here, between this world and the next,
Is a place where each beloved creature finds rest.
On this golden land, they wait and they play,
Till the Rainbow Bridge they cross over one day.
No more do they suffer, in pain or in sadness,
For here they are whole, their lives filled with gladness.
Their limbs are restored, their health renewed,
Their bodies have healed, with strength imbued.
They romp through the grass, without even a care,
Until one day they start, and sniff at the air.
All ears prick forward, eyes dart front and back,
Then all of a sudden, one breaks from the pack.
For just at that instant, their eyes have met;
Together again, both person and pet.
So they run to each other, these friends from long past,
The time of their parting is over at last.
The sadness they felt while they were apart,
Has turned into joy once more in each heart.
They embrace with a love that will last forever,
And then, side-by-side, they cross over together.

My wonderful cat Dusty died unexpectedly on Saturday. In an effort to keep my mind occupied I've been watching true crime shows on Netflix. So many cases seem to be cold until one bit of information pops up and ties everything together. Maybe someone comes forward and admits to giving someone a false alibi. Or a forensics test provides useful info. I hope something like that happens in this case. I would hate to see Lyric and Elizabeth on a show about unsolved murders
