Is there any actual evidence that Drew and Heather Collins know that this guy is on the register? I know that I don't check the register every time I meet someone new. In fact, the only time I've checked the register is when it is connected to a case I'm learning about.
I imagine Drew and Heather have met so many people during the search and the fundraising attempts for the memorial park that it would be almost impossible to check.
Another possibility is that Heather Collins has made it clear that her faith is central to her life. She may believe that this guy has repented, been punished and now deserves a life... while she treats him cordially, I doubt he's on her list of babysitters.
Could be - I have no idea how close they are. I just know from reading the article and doing a little sleuthing that he was doing a bunch of funding for after the girls went missing.
I don't have a clue whether he's even still on the registry - I think the person's point was more or less that it's hypocritical of them (mainly Drew) to have such a hard stance against sexual predators, but they appear to be ok with this man heading up a parade for the girls while funding "the cause".
I also would say (per the blog's proof) that Heather has been more than "cordial" to him. She attended his birthday party, went to the theater, and he released doves at Elizabeth's Celebration of Life ceremony. He is also a contributor to the Angel's Park.
I mean, this guy was sleeping with a 13 year old...on at least 9 occasions. He had nude pics of himself with this child. He was also found with marijuana, LSD, and cocaine.
This, coming from the person who has zero contact with her own sister and family because of drug use.
I have to agree that I find it quite hypocritical...but that's just my opinion.
Doesn't mean I think he had anything to do with the murders...but to have someone like him be your front runner of a parade of two murdered little girls has me scratching my head.
Then again...Heather appears to be the pillar of forgiveness and faith. How many mothers of abducted children do you see out telling the masses that they forgive the offender less than 2 weeks after their child was taken? She clearly is a much stronger woman than myself. I can tell you with 100% certainty that no matter my faith, there is no way in hell I'd be forgiving ANYONE any time soon if they took my beloved daughter. It wouldn't matter WHO it was, what the circumstances were, nada...forgiveness wouldn't come until after a VERY long period of healing.
Heather and I couldn't be anymore different - doesn't make either of us right or wrong, but I feel pretty confident in saying that the actions that have been displayed could be easily called hypocritical...which is what the blog's writer is stating, that's all...
