I just came on to update. I'm sad- I hope that the families of those two are able to get some answers, but I was really hoping this was related to the girls.

This father and son from Dubuque, IA were both recently arrested for sexual abuse of children. According to comments on local social media, they are relatives of Lizzy and Lyric.

Yes, he started that ID program after Lizzy and Lyric went missing. His wife is a cousin to the girls.

His intentions are admirable but someone is leading him back to the milk carton days when the American public was led to believe that there were two million children missing in this country. Then when the FBI revealed that there were less than 100 stranger abductions every year the design of the milk cartons changed.

I wonder how many parents who signed up the kits realized that they aren’t designed to find children. The purpose is to identify bodies that have lain in the woods for a year or have been fished out of rivers and lakes.

I think a lot of people kind of know that in the back of their minds, but it's not something you want to talk about or think about. I remember a lot of people doing them after 9/11 and saying kind of the same thing, but the unspoken truth was, "In case they have to identify remains after a terrorist attack." Which was also very unlikely, but "just in case."

A few days prior to the abductions, Lyric had spent time with an older cousin. Was one of the Stechmans that older cousin?
