A weekend event will honor Evelyn Miller’s memory as family members prepare a murder trial later this year...
As the time goes on, Evelyn Miller’s paternal grandmother, Linda Christie, is touched that a group organized a motorcycle ride/fun run to remember Evelyn. It’ll take place on Saturday.
“She is greatly, greatly missed,” Christie said.
It has taken Christie a long time to get to the point where she can openly talk about the loss of her granddaughter. “There was many years that I couldn’t even — I curled myself into a fetal position in bed,” Christie said...
Organizers said the event is a fundraiser, and all of the proceeds will go to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

When Frederiksen's trial begins, it will not take place in Floyd County. Because of pre-trial publicity, a judge has moved the case to Hamilton County in northwest Iowa.

He is scheduled to stand trial on the charges March 2.

The heartache was heard throughout the courtroom as the testimony of the man who found Evelyn Miller’s body began...
Katcher had volunteered on July 6th to help search for Evelyn. He took a friend’s canoe out onto the Cedar River that day. Little did he know what he would find as he floated past a part of the river known by the locals as Devil’s Elbow... “Two small legs sticking up out of the water as in like she was laying on her back and her knees were kind of bent up, but you pretty much knew what it was,” Katcher said.
Other testimony delivered Tuesday included some preliminary statements about a computer hard drive owned by Casey Frederiksen... He and Evelyn’s mother gave the hard drive to their neighbor, Tanya Martinez, days after Evelyn went missing. She said Frederiksen told her to keep the hard drive close because he claimed it contained pictures of Evelyn that they didn’t want law enforcement to get.
Seward interviewed Frederiksen twice before Evelyn's body was recovered. On first contact, Seward said Frederiksen acted as an observer might expect. "At that particular time he struck me as someone who was concerned"...
During one interview, Seward asked Frederiksen to name the top five places authorities should begin looking for Evelyn. Frederiksen "deflected" the question, according to Seward. "I don't recall that he gave me any locations at the time... He said we should be looking at other people," Seward testified. Frederiksen suggested "Larry" from Arkansas and "Randy," according to Seward's testimony. He provided no last names, Seward said...
On cross examination, Seward provided details about Frederiksen's and Noel Miller's history. They met when Noel Miller was pregnant with Evelyn. They had two sons together. Frederiksen previously worked at Kmart but quit when Noel Miller got a job at a nursing home, according to Seward. Frederiksen quit to became a stay-at-home father.
