tis not a working link ....
I was curious what the sleuths think on this case .... through my work a couple locals to Mason City (summer 2015) said there was suspicion about a LEO

Lately, most of the discussion here has been about a convicted rapist, Tony Dejuan Jackson. I find the evidence against him compelling. It appears that he'll never talk, so without a body, the case is likely permanently stalled.

Lengthy article.

Cold Case: News Anchor Abducted
May 09, 2016
Because of the attention - leads came in from everywhere. But none of the information ever led to a named suspect or an arrest...not in 1995 or at any time in the last 20-years.

"If it was anybody but her because she was local news anchor, you could say it was a chance encounter,” said Mike Kitsmiller with the FBI. “You can't rule out the fact that someone was stalking her - just because of who she was."

"If you're a kidnapper, there are a lot of possibilities that you should have gotten caught,” said Officer Prochaska. “In an apartment complex, there are a lot of windows facing out ..what a risky place to abduct someone? So you think maybe it was someone who knew her? There again - what if it was someone who was lurking around apartments looking for prey?"

Mason City Police have interviewed hundreds of people.

Early on - they looked hard at the man who is believed to be the last known person to see Jodi Huisentruit alive.

John Van Sice was Jodi's friend. He named his boat after her. He was 20-years her senior. The night before she disappeared, they watched some of her birthday video together and then Jodi went home to her apartment and made a phone call to a girlfriend.

Reporter: "Do you think you've interviewed who did it?"
FBI: "I don't know. I don't know. I makes you wonder."

Reporter: "Do you think this is a case where you know who did it, but just can't prove it?”
Mason City Police: "I don't think so. There are so many different stories and theories and possibilities that I don't think we could ever narrow it down to who did it. Right now, it's trying to find out what happened to Jodi - where is she and work backwards from there. We never close our eyes to anyone and narrow to one suspect because there just isn't evidence to support one person."

"I hired Jodi,” said Doug Merbach, former news director of KIMT. “I brought her to Mason City. Could there have been something we could have warned her about and talked to her about. I don't know. What do you think happened? I've been asked that so many times. I feel as ignorant as the next person. I just don't know. I don't want to point fingers at anybody without looking inside the investigation and opening up those books. I don't know. I think it had to be somebody who knew her. I think it had to be somebody who had an emotional response to something Jodi said or did that caused them to do that. I don't think it was random - I don't think it was planned. I think it was planned to a certain extent - but not days and weeks ahead of time."

Besides the personal belongings of Jodi Huisentruit's found scattered at the scene, investigators also have a palm print on her car.
So far, no matches. Investigators wouldn't get into specifics, but acknowledge new science techniques allow them to analyze evidence in way they couldn't 20-years ago
.

Lately - they've asked Iowa investigators to re-examine a man who was in Mason City 20-years ago - and now serving time for multiple rapes.

Psychics still contact Mason City Police. Investigator Prochaska says he checks on all leads: internet chatter - jailhouse talk - and lately he checks a database of Jane Does to compared to Huisentruit's profile.

"These are some recent ones where I got some follow-up done,” said Officer Prochaska. "Many cops don't know this - but there are a lot of female unclaimed Jane Does out there in the network - -whether they were body parts or simply DNA - so we try to compare what we have to all of those. Obviously we have Jodi Huisentruit's information. We have her DNA, her fingerprints and her dental records. We have the sources here to rule out these types of leads and we get a significant amount of them."

Police chief's reflection on Huisentruit case: Somebody knows
That's the stark reaction of Mason City Police Chief Jeff Brinkley concerning the disappearance of KIMT morning anchor Jodi Huisentruit.

(...)

Brinkley said the Huisentruit case has been the subject of many television shows focusing on unsolved crimes and still gets extensive media attention, particularly on the anniversary of her disappearance.

"And that's OK," he said. "Anything that keeps it in the public eye is good.

The Huisentruit case file is voluminous and Brinkley intends to take the time to read every word of it.

"I would love to be able to close the file on this one," he said. "There are a lot of officers here and retired officers who feel the same way. The day that happens - the day we close this — that will be a very good day."

Jodi's case to be featured on America's Missing Podcast next week (July 11th).

Check out these links. Does anyone know if the man with glasses eating pizza is Dustin Honken?? If you look at the second link and cover his mouth in the picture like he's doing with the pizza it sure looks like him to me??

I live relatively close to the area and I've followed this case over the years. I have to admit that it's hard for me to accept that this case is still unsolved. IMO there are too many twists and eerie coincidences with people connected to Jodi that have been involved in other cases, suicide, crimes and even convicted of murder for her case to be remain unsolved. I truly believe that somebody out there knows more and I suspect they are either involved or afraid to come forward with what they know.

For anybody who is interested in this case I highly recommend the book "Dead Air" by Beth Bednar. Like Jodi, Beth also worked as a TV anchor. Beth worked for KAAL 6, which is located about 40 minutes from Mason CIty, where Jodi lived and worked when she disappeared. The book is an easy read and it has good information surrounding the case. What I liked most about the book is the fact that she brings up people and information that hasn't been discussed much on the web. For me the book gave me a better general understanding of the area, people and activity in the area. Again this is just my opinion, but it's much MORE TWISTED and BIZARRE than what the media has stated. It's a very good book even for people who haven't been following the case.

One of the topics from the book that has stood out for me is Dustin Honken and his GF Angie (Murderpedia link above). His GF Angie worked at the Country Club that Jodi was at the night before she disappeared and she was working that night as well. I don't want to speculate too much but, let's just say, I don't believe that coincidences are always coincedences.
There are a handful or more topics from the book that are intriguing and would be worth sleuthing for sure!!! I would love to see a thread (Dead Air) on webslueths discussing theories , people, etc., surrounding info and people mentioned in the book "Dead Air" .

I agree that Dead Air is a good read. Normally I won't spend more than a few £££ on a kindle book, but it was totally worth it.

Can't believe this case hasn't been solved more than 20 years later.

[h=1]Where is Josh? Where is Jodi? [/h]September 15, 2016
Now that Jacob Wetterling has been found (in the saddest outcome imaginable) we must now wonder: Where is Joshua Guimond? Where is Jodi Huisentruit? And where are all the other missing children and adults?
Jodi Huisentruit – there is a photo of her that nags at me, haunts me, and I can’t get it out of my mind. The photo shows news anchor Huisentruit presenting a newscast from KIMT-TV in Mason City, Iowa. Behind her, on the news-backdrop screen, is a photo of Jacob Wetterling who would have been 15 years old on the day of the newscast. Huisentruit was reporting about how the case of the missing boy from Minnesota remained unsolved.
Why that photo bothers me is its grim irony. Two years later, Huisentruit herself would go missing and, like the Wetterling case, her abduction would baffle investigators far and wide. She is still missing after 21 years.
Jodi was a petite woman in her early 20s, 5 feet 3 inches, blonde, soft warm brown eyes that sparkled with glints of light when she smiled or laughed. She was one of those personality-plus types with a spritely charm. A native of Long Prairie, she was kind and caring, had a breezy sense of humor and a quick wit. She was a goal-setting go-getter with lots of energy, not surprising as she loved outdoor activities. She was a championship golfer.
We reporters were disappointed when Jodi announced she’d be leaving KSAX-TV for another job.
A couple years later, when we in Alexandria heard the news, we were devastated that something so unthinkable could happen to lively, likable, talented Jodi, who had such a rewarding lifetime ahead of her. Her abduction came to haunt all of us for a long time. It still does.

If Jodi's car is kept in storage somewhere, maybe any DNA found, can be retested, it is Jodi's turn to come home now.
Any chance that someone had a strong reaction to Jodi's reporting on the Jacob W. case?

Hi Wisdom, you can't see the mouth or nose, but the head shape, hair texture and color, and especially those glasses look pretty darned good to me. Very interesting!

To me the head shape looks different.

Thought this was interesting. At 4:12 the lady interviewer asks the older investigator if an earwitness heard a name yelled by Jodi, and he says yes. So the million dollar question, what was the name, did witness hear the same or something that sounded like a name in context. This sounds huge and it was not expanded upon (???).

If there was any truth to the story told by the new " witness ", the number one thing i would want to know is Why, why Jodi, or for that matter, why anyone?
Wondering if it was an extremely rare thing for Jodi to sleep in / be late for work, because if it was, what are the chances that on the day she goes missing is also the one day she sleeps in ?
A fight of some kind in a relationship might have a jealous guy not allowing the female to leave the house for work as a way of exerting control and perhaps to mess up her job. Maybe the phone call from work helped Jodi get out of there, angering the person enough to chase her down in the parking lot?
Other than that, whoever was stalking her in the dark car, would likely be the number one suspect in my mind.
Did Jodi ever describe him?
imo, speculation.

http://www.mccarthyhamrock.com/criminal-defense/violent-crimes/stalking/
“Stalkers may be obsessive, unpredictable, and potentially violent. They often commit a series of increasingly serious acts, which may become suddenly violent, and result in the victim's injury or death.... Policies governing the release of convicted stalkers on probation or parole should take into account that some stalkers may be more dangerous once they are released from prison, and that stalking behavior often escalates into violence as time passes and the stalker's obsession with the victim grows.”

Id. (internal citations omitted).
“The uncertain motives and intentions of the suspected stalker and his obsessive and unpredictable behavior place his victim at great risk of bodily injury or death, as well as psychological trauma. A principal objective of an anti-stalking strategy is to intervene in a suspected stalking before the stalking victim is injured or killed.”

Someone who knew Tony Dejuan Jackson said that not long before Jodi's disappearance, he (the witness) accompanied Jackson to a bar where Jackson (somehow) knew Jodi would be. At the bar, Jackson made a point of seeking Jodi out and talking to her.

Jackson was later convicted of brutally raping four women who bore a resemblance to Jodi.

In other words, a known serial rapist was stalking Jodi not long before she disappeared. I do believe in coincidences, but I don't think that is one.

I posted a link to a video with that information a few pages back.

If I were a betting man, I would be all in on Jackson as Jodi's killer. There is evidence that he moved her body after leaving it in an empty silo for a period of time; I would not bet on its ever being found.

In the book Dead Air by Beth Bednar, they state that the witness heard Jodi yell out the name John or some type of name that rhymes with John like Don, Ron, etc. The witness could not definitely say the name yelled was John.

I should have read more carefully, thanks!

Interesting....I've followed this case over the years and this is the first time I've heard there's evidence that TJ moved her body after leaving it in an empty silo. Can you elaborate more or share a link with the information? TIA

This video covers most of that information.
