Doss was living in Houston, Texas at the time of her disappearance. She was reported missing on September 1, 1982. On September 27, she was seen at a Greyhound bus station in Davenport, Iowa. It is unclear where she was going; some believe she planned to return to Houston to visit her father. Her family never heard from her again.

This unidentified female was found in Orange County, TX, about 110 miles east of Houston. The age, height and hair color are around the same. The hair style in the composite drawing looks the same, and it does look like there might be a gap in the teeth, though it's hard to tell from the drawing. The unidentified female was found 11/1/84 and had been dead at least a year when found.
