we also do not know what meds she could have been on. I know of one asthma med that can cause serious mental health issues. it is often used for exercise induced asthma and taken shortly before exercise. some people react right away to it and some people it builds up in them before a issue. seems I see said that she had at some point had some breathing problems or asthma. I don't know but if she did walk off then something like that could have caused a out of normal behavior for a person.

Slightly different modus operandi IMO, but a similar vehicle and similar facial hair to the Miner suspect is nothing to dismiss out of hand. I wonder what color facial hair the Ankeny suspect has.

I don't know, but if he was chasing her, she may not have gotten a good look at him.

Did you notice what the police said? If you see something suspicious, say something.

Torched? I don't think so. What makes Mollie different from so many others is that it can be ruled out that Mollie ran away. She was preparing to attend a family wedding in the Dominican Republic in a matter of days. She had just ordered a passport, so clearly she hasn't done a lot of traveling. She had a job to do in the morning and was especially needed because of the field trip. She was a responsible young woman with goals, dreams, responsibilities, and a life to live. It is obvious that she was abducted. The fact that this happened without a trace makes it a bigger concern.

Because there is another unsolved abduction of young women and girls within an hour of Brooklyn, which also involved the FBI, it is really important that the cases are compared and analyzed. The FBI needs to figure out what they are dealing with: one predator, or two random unrelated events.

Some have speculated that a mature looking 10 year old girl and a 5'3" 20 year old would never appeal to the same predator. I disagree. There are examples of predators who preferred young women, but targeted girls first simply because they are easier to abduct.
No that cannot be ruled out. Not a single piece of evidence indicates otherwise.

Yes, I'm not sure if they actually said nearsighted, but I got the idea that's what they meant if she couldn't see road signs. Also that she couldn't see anything without them. I thought people who were far sighted just need them to see close. Like for reading. Also she is young and it's not as common to be far sighted until you are older. There is an optometrist on the site maybe she will see this and explain.
Agree, I believe Mollie is near-sighted (needs correction to drive). Also see post #784 for optician's opinion.

More than anything, three weeks into this investigation we still have no evidence at all to suggest there was foul play involved. Nothing. If LE had anything to confirm foul play those cards would be on the table by now.

So are you thinking she went for a planned jog, with the purpose of meeting up with someone who would take her elsewhere, at her request?

You are absolutely right. You’re going to get torched for saying it, but you’re absolutely right.

I spent so much time thinking about why the large state and federal presence is on the ground in this case. I think the media attention might be greater for this case because of the 'white/female/vanished into thin air' scenario. But I don't think the white/female issue swayed the federal officials to send so many resources to Iowa. They must know something about this case that we just don't know yet. Just my opinion.

But this level of Federal assistance seems excessive for a single missing persons case. I've seen many others that didn't garner a fraction of this level of Federal assistance. The question is why?
Totally agree. We just don't know the answer yet. Something about the facts of this missing person case intersects with the FBI agenda. If it didn't they might have sense one person.

Wonderfully stated, and I completely agree. On your last point, even though Ted Bundy preferred college age women, his last victim was a 12 year old girl.
And as I mentioned previously, ARS attacked an adult female jogger months before abducting and murdering little Jessica R. Also same with the cases of Laura Smither (younger) and Jessica Cain (older).

From Wikipedia:

Chandra “Levy was last seen on May 1, 2001. The Metropolitan Police Department of the District of Columbia was first alerted on May 6, when Levy's parents called from Modesto to report that they had not heard from their daughter in five days. Police called hospitals and visited Levy's apartment in Dupont Circle that day, finding no indication of foul play. “

No indication of foul play.

.
Central Park vs Brooklyn, IA... I don't know where to begin.

The runaway bride for one. Jennifer Wilbanks Old case file. Had a beautiful life! Leanne Bearden hung herself! She had everything.

It happens.

We have seen many, many suicides here. Anthony Bourdain imo seemed to have it all.

PS FTR LE has ruled suicides in some cases that I thought were suspicious, moo. (Cheryl DeBoer for one, off the top of my head, found in a difch on the side of the road with a bag over her head. Supposedly this is an established method of suicide. Her son was a member here and I hope he is doing a best as can be. He has accepted iirc LE’s findings)

@SharonNeedles Going with your theory of her possibly being in touch with her mom, they would be able to trace that. They traced cell and burner phones of Sabrina Limon and Jonathon Hearn. Jonathon killed Sabrina's husband with likely encouragement from Sabrina. The recordings are bonkers. Lots of praying about hoping to get away with murder. Not kidding.

Where and why, I have no idea. But there are a whole lot of assumptions in that one sentence... I don't know whether a psychology degree is a path to a great future or not, it's certainly a path to a lot of debt. No idea how strong her bond to her boyfriend is. Seems certain members of the family are a lot more loving and close than others. Not sure she was all that excited about an in-laws wedding in the DR either. It would be fair to say we don't know this girl at all and have no idea what she's thinking.

True - hence my qualifying word "seemingly".

I'm in my 50's and still joke that I'm a work in progress - even though I'm retired now after a successful career with a Fortune 100 company!

If the real Mollie is close to the Mollie she shows to others - then I don't see her taking off.

Trips can be cancelled, romantic relationships can be dissolved, majors/careers change - I see nothing that reeks of her telling herself - I need to go to Alaska, etc. and leave this mess behind me.

Those that know her the best - are saying she's grounded, et al.

I'm just going off of the obvious ( like my name) - BUT - I do believe that within each of us - is a line that once it's crossed allows/makes, etc. us to do things that aren't in our (seemingly) normal behavior! :-)
