Cell phone towers in area. Triangulate based on when cell phone is passed from one tower to the next.

I saw that and wondered about it. The crime took place in 2002 when the victim and perp were both 13. There doesn't appear to be any additional arrests for this crime. It makes me wonder since they were both the same age and kids if it was a one time stupid move on his part. But in sexual assault cases the crime has a very high recidivism rate. Either it was a dumb childhood act that he learned from or he has just gotten better at it and hasn't been caught again.

Some may not agree with this, but I don't like the fact that a crime committed at 13 can require offender registry as an adult.

I agree with previous posters who said that LE may have some people under 24/7 surveillance. But surveillance is probably more difficult in this setting, with its wide open spaces and few people, as extraneous cars and people stick out, unlike in a city.

If someone harmed Mollie, as LE indicates that they now believe, and let's say that the likely perpetrator is a random unknown stranger to them, wouldn't it behoove them to caution the public? Then why haven't they?

Seems like they may have a pretty good idea who did it.

Where did LE ever indicate they now believe someone harmed Mollie? I believe they said they cannot rule it out. In addition, at the last PC they were asked if the public is at risk, they stated the public is not at risk.

I've also been thinking that if the perp was watching her on and off he would know her schedule. He would also know that he could walk into her house and have 45 minutes before she returned. A tired 20 years old woman would be shocked to open their door and get a gun in the face. He could have even had his car in the garage...

IMO not difficult. This is the FBI we're talking about. While they aren't perfect, they are the FBI and they have secrets and ways of doing things that no one knows about.

First post here...I keep expecting a big break after each PC. It seems to me that LE has someone/something very specific in mind with each PC and are looking for information to corroborate their findings. When no such break occurs immediately following a PC, I get the feeling LE is “back to the drawing board”.

Here is where I think we stand.
If LE really knew for sure who took her then they would immediately go to that persons house and end up getting him down to the police station for further questioning. Just like they did with their initial person of interest.

So this tells me they really dont know for sure yet who took her.

With that said I do think they have some possible persons of interest that they are keeping a close eye on.
And they of course are trying to find more evidence to see where it leads them.

The bottom line is this case is not solved yet and that is sad to me. I hope it gets solved soon.

Has anyone else listened to the audio from the video the day before she went missing? Sounds like her phone is on speaker and a guy says “Call me tonight.” And a girl in her group sitting there says “Is that Dalton?”

Also, why would there be a 5 hour timeframe if they pretty much know her locations via cameras and maybe her Fitbit? Why not give the exact times?

They need info on anyone lurking around that entire evening because they have no suspects, imo.

I think that IF she is still alive there is no easy way to give her back. that LE is playing two hands, the public one and the one they are keeping to themselves. I think that is a good idea on their part, at least for now. I think the press releases are just a fine, the public wants info give them something to keep them a little happy for a little longer. a keep the press happy and busy so LE is left alone to do what they need to do. as for family, I don't know what to think about what they have said, maybe guided or maybe hope. I think for myself the 30 day mark is where I would feel more sure about how wrong things could have gone and maybe look for a PI. my reasoning for 30 days would be that if missing person had any new accounts that hadn't been known that a statement would show up within 30 days.

Well, LE needs a warrant (probable cause showing) to do that. Installing a GPS is a search and seizure under the Fourth Amendment. United States v. Jones, 565 U.S. 400 (2012)

IF they "cannot rule it (harm) out", AND they are generally proceeding as though someone likely harmed her, AND they have been proceeding this way since the beginning of the investigation if you really think about it, THEN why not at a bare minimum state the public MAY be at risk? But they've ruled that out entirely by saying the public is definitely NOT at risk.

Therefore, deduction tells me that they likely know the culprit if there is one (and they are certainly proceeding like there is one).

Not all over. Maybe they can do that near a home/business but that does not help them follow a person surreptitiously. Easier to do in busier place like a city.

What if the perp was hanging around in the area and happened to hear that Mollie was going to be dog siting while the rest were away on a job. So he watches and sees his opportunity to grab her on the jog. After he subdues her in the vehicle he drives to the truck stop and does he hand her off to someone after it gets dark? In the struggle in the car her armband gets knocked off, but he may have thought it was an iPod, so no worries. He heads back to the car wash because the secondary roads are gravel and when you drive them they put up a big cloud of dust.( We found this out visiting our daughter a few years ago! )So he washes his car and cleans the inside for whatever reason and sees that the armband is really holding the phone! Oh no , gotta get rid of that so he pitches it out the car around the property of WC, either knowing his history, or just random. Just a theory. MOO. Hope I'm wrong and Mollie comes home today!
