We need to put aside our frustration with the crap reporting and have faith that LE has and has had this all along. I so desperately want her alive, but want her found if that’s not the case. I imagine not finding someone is hell on earth.

I have one greater fear in this world other than something happening to my child. And that’s being in a position of not knowing and there not being a damn thing I can do about it.

What would have happened to that property once sold? Would the property company have put tenants into it? Since it sold for peanuts 9 months ago it doesn't seem as though it was an entirely desirable one, but would it have been quickly sold on? Just wondering what checks would have been made on tenants, if any. In these small towns no doubt the longterm residents know each other, but that probably doesn't hold for recent tenants.

If there are tenants in that property, I'd like to know who they are, where they come from and what their background is.

Per the county assessor site that property was immediately sold by the company that bought it in foreclosure to an affiliated company for $76,000 and then was sold in May to a buyer for 117,000.

Mollie texting at 7:30ish asking what was for dinner, her mom replying brats and then Mollie saying "ok" to those supper plans. If I had the same exhange with my mom, and she knew I was an evening jogger and she knew I had dog-sitting duties to take care of, she probably would not expect me to show until 8:30 or even 9:30 and if I did not show at all, she would assume I had fallen asleep (especially with an early morning the next day). She probably would have sent a text or called to see if I was still coming but would not have panicked, blown up my phone, or driven over to my house even though I'm like 10 min away. Normally if that happened I would wake up some time in the night, feel like a jerk and text my mom a "sorry, fell asleep" message and she would see it in the morning. She might also try my bf that night to see what was up since we live together, but as we know Dalton was out of town so she probably wasn't going to call him.
(Obviously I don't know if Mollie or her mom knew of anyone stopping by the house that night that could have changed her plans or if she often went to dinner with friends last minute but my guess is on a weeknight, probably not.)
As she heard nothing more from her that night and the shared car was still at the house the next morning, I could see my mom telling my brother well I haven't heard from her so text her to see if she is up for work and needing the car, and then my mom leaving for work and going about her day. In the moment, she would be more annoyed but I know, if she were in Mollie's mother's position now, without a doubt she would be darn near killing herself over not freaking out sooner.
So if it is worth anything, that's how I get past that piece of this story.

Is there any chance they found her yesterday but won’t update until tomorrow because they are waiting for confirmation from dental records or something? It’s a small town so I assume everyone would probably know if a body was found, but maybe not.
 
As far as sherrif sales, I was going to say typically something that sells so cheap would likely be a mess inside. A management company would likely spend a great deal of time and money fixing it up to code and getting into sell able condition. Likely for a small profit. Usually people (I've done it) aren't watching for sherrif sales to put in renters. Its definitely a job, buying and flipping for $.

Same here! Thanks Indy94 for expressing what I was thinking. I'm the mother of several daughters who come and go daily, with constantly changing routines, if someone didn't make dinner, I would not be alarmed in the least.
This sounds like a very normal loving family who interacts like most of us do. What is the one key occurence that made this day different? Is it that the BF was out of town and is there an acquaintance of his who had Molly on his radar? What was so different about this day for Molly?
I really think LE has this figured out, with all of the digital data and the FBI assistance. They do seem to be handling this differently for some strange reason, and I am hoping they believe she is being held alive so are proceeding with some discretion.
Many prayers to her family and loved ones!

At first I would be peeved at my kid for not showing up after I made extra food. Then I would be worried and call or drive over. And if they were ok, I'd be pissed because they made me worry. My kids might pull the " I'm a grown up" card. Then I would remind them grown ups should have more manners. I just went through the same situation with my Marine son, Who says after three tours in the middle east, he can handle himself. He did not win that argument.

I am though, giving Mollie's mom a pass. I'm sure that it never occurred to her something horrible like this would happen in that beautiful, safe little town they live in.

I associate that sort of silence with LE who feel that they know enough that they don't need help from the public. I hope they're right.

Speaking of blurry CCTV frames--did Mollie's standard jogging routes go out into the country, where there wouldn't have been any cameras, or did they go through town? What about the path she'd have taken if she ran over to her mother's? Would that have been a cross-country path, or one that went past businesses that might have had cameras?

Wow, that might be on of the better news articles I've ever read. Not much information, but seemingly accurate (from what we know) and well written. Many kudos to the Mercury News! If only this were the norm, rather than the exception. :confused:

I don't know that it's been said. It looks like the town has sidewalks, while the country roads do not, which is typical. As for if she went over to her mom's, she would have had to pass the high school, but that would have been right before her mom's.
