I work with technology all day, and I've thought about getting a Fitbit, but it's just one more thing to deal with, one more thing to charge, one more thing to fill my head with more data that won't fit at this point! I'm glad Mollie has one, though, and that it is most likely helping.
What I like about it is that it helps you stay on track and get your weekly exercise. I've had mine since March or April. I charge it less often than my phone and it charges quickly. I'm slightly addicted to it, LOL.

Welcome! Interesting thought. Hmm. Reminds me of something but I can't quite recall what.
Ty for the welcome!
Ive heard similiar cases where a cop had stalked and committed a crime. Again not to say this happened.
I sent the twitter post in as a tip. I hope they either have looked into it or will.

O/T .... after so much great, technical info shared here, am I the only one clamoring to get a fitbit? Especially now that I know I don't need one for each wrist!! Group discount anyone?...o_O hee, hee

If I was into fitness like I should be then I would consider it but for me it would likely go by the wayside like my other fitness things like my weights that I only ever pickup to move them out of the way. LOL :)

I think so long as your smart phone has GPS location services turned on then it would give LE a way to find you should you ever come up missing. At least thats my hope and why I keep my location ON.

I think that is a common misconception. I see that exact same thing posted on every cold case thread on Websleuths, over and over again. If it was true, they would all be getting solved. I can't think of even one case solved with nothing more than publicity. Missy Bevers, crazy publicity, the case went 100% cold. Sherri Papini, crazy publicity, fortunately she survived but they case went cold. I could go on and on. Publicity does not solve cases. The only thing that solves cases is good detective work, either by real detectives or by internet wannabes.

One that does come to mind for me is Hannah Graham's murder. Charlottesville police chief, Timothy Longo, was relentless with press conferences and publicity, and finally someone recognized a suspicious person in one of the videos he made public. That person was not the killer, but when he saw LE was looking for him based on a video, he came forward and provided LE with a description of the last person Hannah was seen with that night.

But then, I've never seen ANY LE run a press conference like Chief Longo.

I agree...though Hannah's case had a huge advantage with the video. (I will never forget being on WS while WSers noticed the perp on the video. Wow, that was a night in WS history.)

Sure wish we had video in Mollie's case.

Agreed, he was memorable. That was such a tragic case.

Welcome! That's a super good thought actually.

This is from the U.K. :

These are from the US:

Pizza delivery boy rapes woman in Manhattan apartment: police - NY Daily News

Magazine Delivery Man Charged With Rape, Indecent Assault

Uber sued by female passengers alleging driver rape, violence

It could be easy to track though via her phone records. If she called a driver and the company has a record of someone being sent out...

Best as I can tell there is no food delivery of any type in Brooklyn. Even if there was in a small town like that, you might have one or two delivery people at most. It wouldn't take a lot of time to investigate them.

I’ve been lurking but haven’t commented as of yet. I’m hung up on three things:
How she was supposed to get to work that day. I know her brother texted her regarding the ride home, but what about the way TO?

The second is the red shirt. Where is it? The most plausible scenario is that she was wearing it, dressed for work already, I think.

The third is whether or not the doors were locked when the house was checked once she was reported missing. I read an article on here where the bf said she “probably didn’t lock the doors”, but I took that to mean while she was in the house. I wonder if it would be her habit to lock the doors when she left the house for a jog or to go to work, etc.....

Tim Longo gets more ambitious each time he retires.

The retired Charlottesville police chief and a retired bureau chief from the Baltimore Police Department now wants to shape the future of policing.

Longo in December joined the faculty of the University of Virginia’s School of Continuing and Professional Studies to help create a master’s degree in public safety administration.

Thanks, I'll study that case more. But from what I can see now, her body was found by searchers, not as a result of publicity. But I will read more about it. Thanks again.

So, maybe everyone should start voluntarily letting other people search their out buildings.
They've been searching all the outbuildings and sheds and things since the beginning. It sounded like people were very cooperative:
Poweshiek County Sheriff Tom Kriegel "is confident that every home in Brooklyn has been visited. Every farm building, barn and shed in the area has been searched," Heaston wrote.

I want that evidence that I burn calories in my sleep!!
Lol I found it depressing when I had one because it pointed out how little sleep I was getting.

Still wondering what pointed them to Utah originally.

Did Mollie meet someone online from Utah?
According to one of the early articles, MT had family in southern UT. Other than a couple of early articles on this area I haven't seen anything further about UT family related to MT. Has anybody else heard any mention made of UT other than in the early days of case?

OT...The idea of fitbits hold no appeal for me...I am kind of anti all this new wave of food obsessions, step counting etc...just brings to mind the non-tech habits of my little sister, who died from her eating disorder. I am SURE most people are able to avoid such extremes but it does seem a “helpful” tool to those inclined to eating disorders. Jmo

Anyway...I still can’t see proof of abduction/foul play, except in that Mollie still has not made contact with anyone. And I saw/heard nothing that made me think LE has a suspect. Maybe it too many press conferences over the years but I no longer find pauses significant.
