Also maybe if a sa did occur it happened in the car's back seat. If so, there would be a wealth of dna. It seems a sa would be really difficult in the corn rows. Just a thought.
I tend to agree with you. We live on a farm and the amount of bugs and insects found among crops would make it impossible; moths, spiders, box elders, etc. My husband and I tried to sneak off once from the kids in our tobacco field to fool around. The next day we were at the doctor getting steroid shots for chigger bites, lol. Never have tried it again.

CR has lived in Iowa for a bit and works in the farming industry so he would know something about agriculture. After seeing the video of the cornfield entrance and noticing the cattle gates not padlocked, I am leaning toward him getting her out of the trunk there and whatever happened to her happened there in the car. I am surprised that there isn’t a lock on those gates now as everyone and their brother are curious about the location. I would think it would be locked down in case LE would need to return at a later date. We lock our fields, even when they aren’t being used to prevent teenagers and such from driving up there and partying or what have you.

For this to happen, I would think there could have been an accomplice perhaps driving the car IMO. I wonder if LE looked at all of carseats used for CR kid. I am trying to think what would make MT talk to this guy, perhaps he started of talking about his daughter or something.
I think it could have been done easily without an accomplice. All he had to do was pull up right in front of her. Moving quickly, he could have easily caught up with her. I don't think she had the chance to run very far at all. She was probably just a short distance from the trunk of the car. It would have been easy to strike her in the head and drag or pull her to the trunk. Jmo

Not that's it's that important, but Mollie never said she would be there for dinner at all. She just said "ok", after asking what her mom said what she was making.

I know that, I just expressed how “I” would react and what her mother was quoted as saying.

I am in no way blaming anyone or thinly veiling or victim blaming, anyone other than CR, he took her life!

According to Calderwood, Tibbetts said she would be home and asked what they were having. “Brats,” she replied. “Ok,” Tibbetts responded.

I have gone over that a million times

Not placing any blame just an observation as a Mom of three

If any of my kids had me pick up ingredients to make a dessert for the next day and I thought they were coming for dinner I would have called or texted them asking they were.

It’s happened many times when my kids asked for a specific thing for dinner and then ended up staying at their friends house, but I always got in touch with them to find out what was going on.

We all get busy in our lives but this is a reminder to watch for red flags, not matter how insignificant and check up on loved ones when things are out of place.

The dessert was intended for a Friday party, and MT was abducted on a Wednesday evening. No red flags for mom, as the treat would have been made Thursday evening. MT was responsible, and would not have dropped the request on her mom at the last minute.

Also, MT was due to go to the DR for a wedding in the next 2 weeks. Wanting to look trim on the beach, Brats may not have been appealing to her that week. No matter if mom would have raised a red flag, or if MT had gotten a call off to 911, it would not have mattered as she was likely dead (20:28 per the arrest warrant application) before anyone could have responded.

Look at what happened to Lorenzin Wright, in Memphis, who did get through to 911 and spoke with LE while being executed, and it was 9 days before LE found his liquified (from July summer heat decomp) remains even with cellphone GPS data in the possession of LE at the time of the call!

Reading over some of the first news articles (ones still available, many are not) her dad was quoted as saying you can’t do anything in a small city like Brooklyn without being seen...sadly turned out not to be true.

Or, he may have assaulted and killed her on that secluded dirt road into the cornfield, then carried her into the cornfield afterwards.

The baking was for an event on Friday...not to take on Thursday to fair, according to early reports.

Thank you, I’m looking for earlier reports, all I can find don’t state anything other than for work.

I believe there is so much more we will learn as time goes by and trial gets closer.

Much if it I believe both sides will have a deep concern over the gruesome facts in this case.

And it’s the most substantial reason to negotiate a plea. I hope the prosecution is strong enough to take it to trial. Although Mollie and her legacy belongs to her family, the crime was against her AND THE UNITED STATES AND THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF IOWA. it sounds cruel and it’s a very fine line to walk. The fact is this horrible situation was a violation against the State. The state manages it and they are tasked with prosecution.

If he decides to plead guilty, they can’t go ahead with a trial just because.

That's my point though..if he took her phone there would be no Fitbit info as to the potential time of death a 8:28. No location and no heart rate info. Whether in the cornfield, in his car or by the side of the road on 385th Ave, the phone was a necessary component for any timing of heart rate slowing.
Yeah, that is something I hadn't even considered. Good point. I had always thought some of the POIs on LE's map were cell phone pings, so figured maybe the fitbit and cell were still on her body.

Again, I’m just going by the article and her mother stated she was coming home for dinner.

Calderwood said she had exchanged several text messages with her daughter that afternoon.

“She had sent me a shopping list for a dessert she wanted to make and take to work,” she said. “I texted her that I got the ingredients and asked if she was coming home for dinner.”

According to Calderwood, Tibbetts said she would be home and asked what they were having. “Brats,” she replied. “Ok,” Tibbetts responded.

But dinner came and went, Calderwood said, and Tibbetts didn’t come home.

I understand. I just didn't want anyone to mistakenly think she said the words, " yes, I will be there for dinner," based on the wording in the post.

Looking at the map here is what I think her route would have been to her Mom’s house

Keep in mind her mom had bought ingredients for Mollie to make a dessert to the school field trip the next day, so she would have needed to pick those up, so I think she was jogging there for dinner and to get the ingredients.

At the intersection of Boundary and 385th she would have kept jogging north on Boundary to Spring Street

Spring street to either Center Street or Mills Street to North Street

North Street to 398

398 to Bear Drive

That is 2.2 miles

I’m thinking Boundary and 385th was her halfway point between the house she left and her Moms

I don’t think she was intending on heading out of town
My only problem with that scenario is that DJ said she usually ran for 45 minutes. A 2.2 mile run would only take her 15-20 minutes. There's nothing to say that she wasn't doing a shorter run that night, of course. But it would have been out of her routine.

I think they were searching his home for the phone. If they can recover both and then sync the Fitbit, it will release an onslaught of evidence. I don’t think he would have realized her Fitbit was a fitness tracker as it looks like the rubbery bracelets kids wear now and not a watch.

How do you read her Mom’s statement?

I read it as she was expecting Mollie for dinner, am I missing something?

Or speeding up, then crashing as you see with a massive, uncontrolled bleed. You can tell a lot by following HR if you have an idea of the circumstances under which they were generated!

Do you know how far it is from DJ’s house to that intersection?

I can try to map out that distance to see.

ETA: it’s only about 0.9 miles, so it would have been a shorter run than she normally took, I kinda thought it was longer, the map is deceiving to look at.

I think it was in an Interview with one of Mollie's co-workers early in that the dessert was for a co-workers Birthday on the Friday. Lovely gesture on her part and it just seems so Mollie sigh.......

Yes, I'm on the fence about the phone. I know a lot of people think he ditched it to hide evidence, but I lean between he left it on her body (my current lean) and he took it with him to sell. JMO - and probably not a popular one.
