The girls were on the petite side. I'm 5'1" and I just measured my arm from shoulder to the tip of my middle finger. It's 26". Someone 6ft or more standing by the side of my bed would have his face nowhere close enough for me to reach it. I'm sure he was standing at full height swinging the knife from the highest point he could. The most I think I'd be able to do was try to grab a wrist. JMO
I had this same thought but was too lazy to do the measurements. I'm 5'2" and just can't envision how I would strike anywhere close to the face/head/neck area. I also think they were killed very quickly. Coming out of sleep to such a horrific experience, you wouldn't be critically thinking- you would be reacting,

I don't know if this has been pointed out but if not I will because it is certainly noticeable to me. (from link below)

WHAT DO WE NOT SEE HERE ?

View attachment 391765.

I see no scratches whatsoever. No claw marks, no gouges. Nothing but a slight redness at the very top of the throat. Even under large magnification nothing is visible. The time since November 13th would not be enough to heal any significant mark completely.

We know that the reference "some" of the victims had defensive wounds has always been used. Some is certainly more than one--it could be 2, 3 or all 4. One of the things I HIGHLY doubt is that none of the girls would have attempted to scratch his face in their struggle to avoid death. And the fingernails of females can do significant damage.

So this means that there cannot be any hoped-for skin cells at least from his face under their fingernails because there is no evidence of where it could have originated. The prosecution cannot merely speculate that he covered his face with a mask, the defense lawyer would force them to produce evidence of it.

If the rest of his body looks like this and if they cannot find that mask or prove one was used, this is a problem for the prosecution. It is certainly a factor which is exculpatory.

Still..how would he explain any traces of any of the four victim’s blood being inside the car? Just like he could not send the car to Mars and that’s that. He still cannot excuse the car being in the area during the time of the murders. H
e didn’t offer the car up to clear it, right
A question here for others who know about handprints and footprints: Do the ones made at birth stay the same (other than through normal growth, of course:)
There would only be red marks evident on his skin now if the wounds the victims created whilst trying to defend themselves were deep.

Wounds which heal in 10-14 days leave no residual effects whereas wounds that heal in 21 days or more have a high risk of scarring which would manifest as redness at this stage, 6 -7 weeks post injury.

So it really depends on the depths of the wounds the victims inflicted which may have been superficial. My feeling is that if the victims scratched the alleged perpetrator, fingernails would not penetrate through all the layers of the skin - through epidermis and the entire dermis to create deep wounds that would show redness at this stage. Also genetics plays a part as well and not everyone scars the same.

MOO, based on a career in burns care.
How about the area covered by the “turtle suit”? Would bruising still be visible? (especially the genital area). Will they check him for all of that? I’m thinking as a female here who has taken self defense classes, and taught to use my legs to kick. Especially if on my back.

What's odd to me is that they were pulled over for following too closely to a car in front of them. In my driving life, I have never seen someone pulled over for following too close. I have been the car in front many many times and have wished that would happen to the car behind me but alas the wish was not granted. Following to close, or what I would call "riding my rear" is so rampant in traffic these days that if cities, counties or states were to ticket drivers for it, those entities would be raking in the cash hand over fist.

maybe they were "too close" to an unmarked police car... that would probably get a driver a ticket, IMO

How do you know the details are true? People will say anything. There have already been news reports about BK that have been debunked.

How do you know some of what is said is not true?

How could crimes be solved if people did not come forward with information?

LE then interviews people and can debunk stories as you point out.

LE is still now asking for people to come forward with any details about Bryan Kohberger.

All this information is helpful for the prosecution in building their Case, as the expert in the article made clear.

Agree they have their own planes that they use for FBI business. Likewise the US Marshall Service has a flight service that is used for federal inmates and sometimes immigration service. IMO the return of a suspect from another state to the arresting state via voluntary extradition or forced extradition is the financial responsibility of the charging state. This is a state crime, not a federal crime. BK is a suspect, not an inmate.
This makes me think of Silence of The Lambs

So do you expect them to fly him back commercial? Or some means of private jet from the State of Idaho?

Let's entertain for a moment Kohberger didn't drive his car to the murders, but perhaps he did drive the car through the area BEFORE the murders so his White Elantra was seen, just not that night. Maybe another Elantra was spotted that night.

Entertain the thought that he walked or jogged there and home, and from the DNA results the LEs THEN put out the news about the car, because they knew by then the type of car their DNA suspect drove. Perhaps they used the car info--and releasing the wrong year--as a red herring. The car could have come after the DNA.

Whatever LE did in this case, they didn't tip their hand, that's for sure. As far as I can tell, they performed impeccably.

Agreed. I think some sleuths are saying something was put through the vents that "drugged" the victims. Maybe to reason out why the victims "didn't scream". IMO that never happened simply because the offender himself would have been incapacitated.
I think there have been burglary cases where drugging by some type of gas was suspected at least. JMO. I do find it interesting that BK did high school vocational training in heating and air conditioning (and I believe his father also works in HVAC).

Mcloughlin said he and Kohberger would spend half the school day at Pleasant Valley High before heading to Monroe County’s vocational school, where they took classes related to heating and air conditioning work. He said Kohberger also took criminal justice courses to potentially become a cop.

I believe if I were being hauled off from my parents' home in the dead of night by LE out of the clear blue and I had done nothing wrong, I would say things like, "Whaaaat?!?!?" "What is this about?" "What's going on?" "I haven't done anything!" "You've got the wrong person!"

I might even say that same stuff if I were guilty. Lots of people do.

What I wouldn't say is something like (allegedly), "Has anyone else been taken into custody?"

What that sounds like to my prejudiced ear is 'Yeah, I did it, I participated, I sure did, but I want you to think, true or not, that I might not be the only one involved. I'm casual; I'm cool. What else you guys got?'

BK didn't scream you've got the wrong person; he asked do you have all the right people (including me)? At least that's how I hear it, but, again, my ear is not objective.

BK may have an enviable IQ but that doesn't mean he can't also be a dodo head at the same time. Or maybe that was a good thing to say strategy-wise, and I just need help to understand why.

However, to me, it appeared he wasn't all that invested in being seen as innocent, and his question came off a bit like an unintentional confession.
Do you think he will be honest and forthcoming with his eventual legal team?

I believe the MPD wants to bring this suspect back themselves and IMO it will be on a commercial flight. The TSA has rules for this type of transport. Carriage of prisoners under the control of armed law enforcement officers
Recently on a commercial flight from Des Moines to DFW three marshals were escorting one prisoner with his cuffs chained to waist and with leg chains. It was on a "red-eye" flight with one of the three marshals in the row with the perp and a marshal in each row ahead and behind. Don't know what he was accused of or whatever but he looked really creepy with a bunch of tatoos on his face. Other than that, it was a very uneventful flight.

I have driven in Indiana, Illinois and Ohio lots. I will say that unmarked cars come in a number of makes and models. I have seen people hauling it and riding the tail of a car in the fast lane AND it was a cop. Who let them pass and then got all lights on them. Don't know if the people were ticketed but I had not seen a small Chevy as a cruiser but it was..... Just my experience.

There is mental illness, but it does not count in criminality.
Which is right, and fair. Mentally ill people make the same or more moral decisions everyday as people with out mental illness every day.
It does in several ways in Idaho. There can be a mental health competency hearing to determine if defendant is competent to stand trial in Idaho. Also there is no plea that is "not guilty by reason of insanity" but there absolutely is a finding jury can make of "guilty but insane" which provides for institutionalization instead of imprisonment

Not sure how BK could cut them up when I'm pretty sure he is not allowed to have weapons. I think she was either referring to a different inmate or just getting some $$$ for giving an "exclusive" interview
Well IF he did say that, it’s obvious the jailers would know he had no weapons.

Not sure where that was, but for example, here in Texas, I know as recently as 2-4 years ago Irving PD would pull you over and ticket you if you tailgated.

An 8 or 10" knife driven all the way in with body weight of good strength mail from above is virtually always going to reuslt in total silence on the part of the vitim. In addition to the cutting trauma it is going to feel like you have been hit in ribs with a sldegehammer.
I could not figure out why they made a big deal about the HVAC professionals and equipment at the crime scene. BK and his dad are experienced. I also heard reference to BTK turning up the heat before he left scenes and maybe that also occurred in Idaho (Source for BTK: Rader gave details in letters).

I was pulled over in Missouri while taking my son-in-law from Iowa to Kansas City. They looked us over with great car (back then I drove sports cars) and went to the passenger side to look at him, too. I don't have a lot of traffic violations in 57 years of driving, but I've had enough to know that state police don't first approach the passenger, asking first for his ID. They cut us loose with a warning about muddy license plates. We pulled off at the next exit, and my plates were perfectly clean. They were looking for someone that day, and we triggered their interest. I cannot imagine that BK, his car and his father didn't attract some attention en route. IMO

I agree. Not sure why everyone is drawing comparisons to BTK, Bundy, etc. To me, this has a different vibe than BTK, other than possibly the psychological aspect, which could be for any murder. I feel very sorry for her situation, but does she also have a vested interest in people talking about BTK (book royalties). My interpretation of 'serial' killer is someone who does it numerous times. To our knowledge, this is BK's only foray into homicide, if he is proven guilty.
ITA. As tantalizing as it would be, I think it is a stretch that BK has communicated with BTK. I'm throwing this info into the corner where I have thrown all the former LE, FBI, Profilers, Coroners, etc. etc , that have offered their two cents, without any inside knowledge of this case. IMO.
