OMG! And you obviously did what any responsible parent would do in that circumstance. As I've never stuck my hand up a tailpipe or know of anyone who has, was the black soot you mentioned greazy? I'm imagining that any discharge from a tailpipe would also contain oil of some description and would be difficult to remove without lots of soap and warm water.

Now I wish Klein elaborated and asked VDK is they cleaned Deorr's arm after he stuck it in the tailpipe or if he was still covered in soot when he "vanished". And if VDK says they wiped his arm off or something that that, as opposed to "scrubbed" it with soap, then I think that should raise some eyebrows as being yet another false tale.

This makes me think that, if DeOrr's arm was covered with soot, there would have been evidence that they tried to clean him up afterwards, such as dirty, sooty towels or paper towels at the campsite.

Not necessarily IMO. Lots of people would just chuck dirty paper towels into the campfire they've already got going I think

I have seen several pics (I think) with little Deorr dirty around his mouth or face but I never saw a pic with Deorr having a dirty little arm. If the parents liked to have a pic of him: why never ever with the soot from a tailpipe on his arm (jacket sleeve or naked arm)?

Petition: Idaho needs to improve public notification system for missing persons

Crystal Douglas is the founder of East Idaho Cold Cases, and she said the Gem State does not have a public notification system for missing adults or juveniles. In response, she has launched a petition campaign to improve the expedition of information regarding missing residents.

According to a press release issued this week, the petition requests that Idaho State Police initiate a voluntary public alert email after a new missing person is entered in the database, using the current notification system.

Douglas said the petition was created in honor of Idaho’s missing residents — particularly Tiffani Streling of Burley and DeOrr Kunz of Idaho Falls. Both Streling and Kunz have been missing since 2015.

To sign the petition, go to change.org/p/idaho-state-police-idaho-s-missing-people-deserve-a-public-alert-system.

I haven't read the rest of the comments from today yet but I wanted to respond to this. I had a feeling from months and months back that when this gets close to them being charged and the stories twist and turn more they will try to spin it as an accident to lessen the charges. I just sure hope LE can find concrete evidence so they don't get away with murder.

So do I. If little Deorr is deceased, I lean more and more toward either voluntary or involuntary manslaughter at this point, probably while under the influence of alcohol and drugs, probably illegal. I don't see why anyone would go to such lengths for such an extensive cover up for an innocent accident. It is strange how VDK goes on and on about that truck and Deorr playing around it. Sounds like he was already putting the spin on it then. jmo

BBM. Or trying to justify/rationalize to himself what happened?

I'm not sure if this has to do with Deorr's case or not, but does anyone know who the "stalker" is on Klein's FB page today ? Does it have anything to do with their work on baby Deorr's case ? TIA

There was a heck of a lot of emphatic convincing going on. He "ALWAYS" played with the lug nuts and put his arm in the exhaust pipe. IMO, it was as if he was trying to preemptively argue the credibility of the story. Like, because DeOrr had a toddler fetish for tail pipes and always played with lug nuts, it goes without saying that both of those things naturally happened that morning.

I wonder what percentage of what we've been told by the parents is truthful....???...

I know, he was trying way too hard to convince with the "always" and the "fetish".... aka overkill. I wonder if he's finally realizing how unbelievable he is, and that he's convinced no one. jmo

I always thought fetish was something sexual.. I had to Google the definition...still weird thing to call it...why not obsession or loved to...but fetish? These people are odd

Yes you are correct it is an awkward word choice at best, very similar to his language about the blanket in the early interview (lecture) he gave. Many may not remember or even get the reference but Vernal is Oswald Bates.

Click and enjoy, or not...

I'm not sure what I can and can't post so I might get in trouble for this. I recently moved from the Pacific Northwest and still follow news from there. It was reported yesterday that a four year old girl was snatched by a mountain lion while camping with her family in Rexburg, ID. The family was able to scare off the mountain lion and the little girl sustained minor injuries. I'm interested to see if the family tries to use this as an example or for some sort of validation/proof that an animal attack was possible in Deorr's case. I'm rolling my eyes as I type this but you know...

Thanks GigiRock. I found a link to the mountain lion incident. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...hter-snatched-mountain-lion-camping-trip.html

We don't have mountain lions here in Australia so it was interesting to read more about them. When this particular lion attacked the four year old girl, she let out a harrowing scream as I think anyone would if attacked. IMO DeOrr wasn't taken by a mountain lion, bear or even aliens.

A theory just came to me and it is probably really far fetched and has a 1% chance of being what happened so here it goes:

- Vernal's use of the word fetish likely means this arm in the tailpipe move wasn't a one time thing but something that happened multiple times.

- The poster whose child did this described it how hard it is to clean up.That isn't the sort of mess you want to deal with over and over especially while camping.

-To stop DeOrr from doing this over and over the parents decided to block up the tailpipes so he can't stick his arms in.

-Perhaps as a timeout or because the parents want to drink or get high they put him in the truck. In an pathetic attempt to be responsible they have the windows rolled up and they turn the car on.

-Either they are too inebriated to remember or are just forgetful and they forget to take whatever out whatever it is blocking the pipes and when they go to check on DeOrr he is dead from CO2 poisoning.

- I seem to remember that Vernal's truck is quite old and blocked tailpipes can be very dangerous in older trucks. In newer trucks I think the engine will eventually turn off unless there is a leak in the exhaust line so if his truck is newer then he could have had a leak he didn't know about.

- This could explain why the grandfather is willing to protect the parents. He knows this is their fault but they didn't intentionally hurt DeOrr so he keeps quiet. Since he was here he probably feels guilty too. This also explains why the parents didn't try to seek help. He was already dead when they found him and to seek help would be to admit that they were irresponsible and negligent. They would take a huge risk in telling the truth and their best case scenarios would still involve jail. Instead of risking that they decided to place their bets on hiding the body and cleaning up the scene.

-Initially I thought maybe he was severely burned or backed over but that is quite messy for lack of a better word and would result in more physical evidence that what they found at the scene.

-It also explains why they won't flip on each other. They both decided to just block the pipes .Both forgot and both forgot because they put him in the truck so he'd be out of the way.

RSBM for brevity

leelee114 imo no theory is too far fetched here - apart from 5 foot high eagles ! - and somehow this sounds plausible to me only why would they turn the engine on?
They'd do that if it was cold so night time maybe Thursday eve when they 'allegedly' were in Lehore, but they'd have driven there and no way could they have driven there with a blocked tailpipe. Also little Deorr wouldn't be out and about to put his arm in the truck then so no reason to block it.

Friday early? As a punishment after he'd got himself filthy doing this and it was chilly so to keep him warm (though it didn't seem cold enough for him to wear his jacket!) ?

Or ... little Deorr had done this Friday a.m., been cleaned, told off, the tail pipe blocked to stop him doing it again, it was near his 'sleep time' so he was put in the truck to sleep, engine on with radio for him or something.... ?

I really go for this theory of yours though, so hopefully someone can come up with something that makes more sense than I have.

I wonder what percentage of what we've been told by the parents is truthful....???...

Absolutely 0. I don't know for sure, but I don't believe this child was alive much longer than the night they arrived. There is a high probability that the parents either used the trip as an excuse to cover up their neglect. Vernal admittedly, stated that he didn't want to be there. JMA said he doesn't like to fish. So why were they there in the first place. GPA would have been fine with IR. They had been on numerous trips togeather. IR has already turned states witness, as he referenced what he can't speak to because it will come out at trial. I believe he may know more about what might have caused DK's death. I'm reasonably sure that DK did not leave with the parents that morning to go to the store. So e truth we can glee from IR's miss steps in 1st interview. DK may have been with he and GPA when he first wandered off. (From the interview with reporter at his door). 1st sit down interview.<modsnip>

i'd see leaving the truck on for air conditioning, not heat.

but i dont think they would plug the tailpipe.

if it was truly an accident they would not bury the boy so disrespectfully. if they loved their son they would have done right by him.

any parent, imo that would hide their child's body is capable of killing them too (not so accidentally).

I don't know, maybe I'm just in a bad mood today but I keep seeing this in a simple way: maybe one parent gets carried away disciplining DeOrr and hurts him badly, the other parent fails to seek medical help for him and both parents agree to concoct a story of him going missing. Kind of like Malik Drummond's case. The whole 911 call episode with calling TC first, VK "hauling" down the road to make sure he has a good cell signal - it all screams story time to me.

I haven't followed one case where a true accident occurred and the parents tried to cover it up with some *advertiser censored* and bull story. Oh, I'm sure there are a few out there but in the vast majority of cases the coverup is about murder. In Janna Rivera's case (her body hasn't yet been found) her dad finally "confessed" to accidentally rolling over on her in his sleep and smothering her. Except that his other kids reported that they'd seen him covering Janna's mouth with his hand and a pillow in the past to stop her crying.

The big mystery is how GGP and IR fit into all of this. I'm starting to think LE has an idea and isn't sharing with the public - not even PK - and when the doo doo finally hits the fan (and I believe it will) we'll all thunk our foreheads and say "Duh! Of course! That makes perfect sense now." In the meantime though I appreciate all the posts here - I'm not very good at thinking outside the box in these cases so it's helpful to hear different points of view.
