I was just thinking. If I was a little child and at that camp ground where would I go?

I would either head the way my mom and dad went or I would definitely be attracted to that rushing water.

Not soon enough when thinking hunters are among the most likely to find Deorr if he is in the area from which he disappeared. A little while ago I posted to Nate Eaton, the reporter who has worked hard to keep Deorr's story fresh, and I asked him what he thought about rallying local hunters now, perhaps accompanied by skilled SAR persons, to do another search for Deorr, so long as law enforcement approves.

Good idea......Did he respond???

Thank you Michshawn. I haven't heard back yet, but if he responds I'll update everyone.

It might depend what little Deorr's experiences with water have been. If he was around it a lot with his parents teaching water safety, he might not have headed for the water without his parents. A few weeks ago we went to a local lake. Our two-year old grandson and his Dad were there. They spent a lot of time together in the lake and they spend a lot of time in the community pool and the gulf beaches. I noticed when he would take off running along the grass shoreline, he didn't head to the water. In his case, he kept heading for a kayak parked on shore and wanted to climb inside. We were there about three hours and never once did he go toward the water unless his Dad took him. So yes, he was curious but not about the water. Of course all kids are different so it's impossible to know what little Deorr did, especially since he was by himself at the time.

Oh my gosh, it's so hard to say. If he was playing with ggp, he could have decided the sound of the creek was interesting and wanted them to go there, or maybe he saw his parents leave and ran after them. He might have heard IR say he was going to fish and liked the idea of fish. It's heartbreaking to think of what he was doing. I imagine him being so full of joy :(

i know it's so sad.. i wish they had found a scent trail to exactly where he went..

I am still unclear as to whether they followed a scent trail to the reservoir (and possibly back) or whether there was no scent trail at all. I "think" that the dogs did not follow a scent to the embankment and down to the creek. I believe I read here a post that said the dogs went to the reservoir just because it was the end of their path and then turned around and went to camp, and also another PST that said search dogs aren't infallible, which I believe (dogs are only human ). And in the parents' interview big DeOrr says the little guy couldn't make it up there. It would be interesting to know what the FBI/sheriff thinks, based on the previous precision of these dogs and their knowledge of search dogs in general. I am sure if they feel confident about the dogs it would be significant to them about where the toddler did (or did not) go, by himself or being carried. Ugh. Poor baby.

ETA: I am not implying someone drowned him the reservoir. For all we know, since they had the morning at the camp to do exploring, he might have been taken to the rez earlier by his parents on the trail and had the idea to go back when ggp turned his head.

Does anyone know the make and model of DK's truck?
Just from feeble memory, imo, it was an older model Dodge Ram. Highly doubt there was any kind of Onstar.

Yes , older Dodge truck , full size with extended cab , black , it has been shown in videos at the upper campsite where the father stayed while searching. Has a couple of missing person posters in the back window.

Truck can be seen at 1:26 here http://www.kboi2.com/news/local/911...toddler-released-315660311.html?tab=video&c=y

I just want to note that I believe many, many of the SAR volunteers were/are hunters. It bothers me to see SAR denigrated. I understand there were a lot of untrained people at the campsite the first few days that may have done more harm than good, but the SAR people are trained volunteers. I believe they did everything in their power to find DeOrr, under less than ideal circumstances. JMO

JM "Who would do this to us knowing how much he means to us?" Hmm.. who indeed? Someone who wants either JM or DK to be unencumbered by a child? jmo

That statement also got my attention, but then my wandering brain takes me to different places than yours, wondering25.

There has been much speculation on where everyone was when little Deorr was discovered missing, but I am more curious about what was going on in the immediate aftermath of him being gone. It is about 50 miles from Salmon, where the Lemhi County sheriffs office is, to Leodore, so it seems it would have taken at least an hour for the first LE and SAR to arrive at the campground after the 911 call. What were the four adults doing during that hour? Was anyone off away from the others for any length of time? Were they all present at the campsite when LE arrived?

I've seen photos (always the same photo) of DeOrr in front of some body of water and do NOT believe it is the reservoir in our current story. Unless the family had been there before at this particular reservoir in the recent past.

That's what you got out of my post??? Sheesh. I was talking about my feelings and the picture I'd come across. Obviously it was meant to look like the reservoir, whether it was or not the real reservoir was FAR from the point I was making.

Apologies...misunderstood.

I thought it was determined that his black truck is a 1979 Chevy 454 3/4. At least that's what I have in my notes and I don't have a source listed.
