It seems that the source for the excommunication claim came from a Dr. Cristina Rosetti who has clarified herself on twitter now. It doesn't really have bearing on the whereabouts for the kids, but it does help clarify this point that came up in the Daily Mail article and does seem to confirm that they did not report this quite accurately. One can have a disciplinary council and have 1) no change outcome, 2) probation period 3) Disfellowshipment 4) Excommunication.

Worth noting that Daybell had a disciplinary council. It’s not confirmed whether he was excommunicated. (IBM)

So she is claiming that he had the disciplinary council. Doesn't even that seem problematic, as in how would she know? Unless the disciplinary council happened within a few days either before or after Tammy's death then we would have to assume #3 or #4 didn't happen if @lurker042 is sure that Chad was attending church and going through the motions of fufilling his church calling up until Tammy's death.

If the council was held and it was immediately before or after Tammy's death then I wonder if LE knows. I can see that figuring in to things, potentially. MOO. (I can also see anyone who really knows what happened not being able to share that with LE which makes me suspect Dr Rosetti doesn't really know whether anything happened unless she's a friend of Chad and he told her.)

So Charles was caring for JJ during Lori’s 2-month disappearing act. Does anyone actually know where Tylee was during that time? That’s really alarming.

So alarming! I would be interested in hearing from JJ’s grandmother about this. In that 2-months time I’m sure they had at least a few FaceTime calls (grandma seemed to have good contact with JJ prior to September, right?). Was Tylee ever around during those calls within that time period? Or was it just Charles and JJ at home?

JMO. It is possible Chad did not know that Lori had minor children at the time he made that statement. Or when he married her. Or until the welfare check on JJ.
They have known each other for years, so I don't believe that he did not know her family situation and vice versa. The statements about the children were made in the weeks after Tammy's death.

Quotes from that article:

Fremont County Sheriff Len Humphries tells EastIdahoNews.com that law enforcement recently obtained sufficient probable cause to get a search warrant for the home. Officers are searching for forensic evidence such as blood or chemicals, which might shed some light on the Daybell case.

“This has been in the works for several days,” Humphries said. “When you are doing an investigation, you have to accumulate evidence, and the process takes time.”

Humphries would not say what the sufficient probable cause was that allowed them to get the warrant. He did say investigators could be at the scene for most of the day.

Oh wow. I wonder if Tammy's autopsy report came back. :(

Fremont County Sheriff Len Humphries tells EastIdahoNews.com that law enforcement recently obtained sufficient probable cause to get a search warrant for the home. Officers are searching for forensic evidence such as blood or chemicals, which might shed some light on the Daybell case.

Humphries would not say what the sufficient probable cause was that allowed them to get the warrant. He did say investigators could be at the scene for most of the day.

Humphries also said the search warrant is related to both the missing children and suspicious death cases.

“It’s all related,” Humphries said.

This sounds to me like the autopsy has finished and they discovered something that links Tammy's death to the disappearance of the kids. I might be making a leap here, but my heart dropped a little.

Yes- I was just going to post this, too, from that same article:

Police are investigating the disappearance of 7-year-old Joshua “JJ” Vallow and 17-year-old Tylee Ryan.

Joshua and Tylee have been missing since September, and their mother, Lori (Vallow) Daybell, and stepfather, Chad Daybell, are refusing to cooperate with police in their attempts to speak with the children to perform a welfare check.

The quotes are pretty ominous. :(
I'm thinking there is a toxic poison that has been used in Tammy's death and possibly Lori's brother Alex's death and her ex-husband and God knows who else and they believe it's inside that house. I hope to hell they didn't do anything like this with the kids. Potassium cyanide is my bet. Makes me think of the Jonestown Massacres with drinking the Kool Aide. Ugh.

Do we know, did Lori completely move out of her townhome?

I'm thinking along the same lines. The specific reference to searching for forensic evidence including chemicals stood out to me
