Sources: Alex Cox may be linked to Tammy Daybell's death

9 Mar 2020

PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) - Sources close to the missing Idaho children investigation told CBS News that Alex Cox, Lori Vallow's brother, may be linked to Tammy Daybell's death. However, he died before he could be questioned.

[...]

The day after her body was exhumed, Alex died. His death is also under investigation. Records show that Alex has a long history of causing trouble. In 2007, he threatened to kill Joseph Ryan, Lori's third husband, and Tylee's biological father. Alex assaulted him with a stun gun and was convicted of aggravated assault. Joseph died in 2018 of an apparent heart attack.

In July 2019, Alex shot and killed Charles Vallow, Lori's fourth husband. Charles had filed for divorce earlier that year and wanted custody of JJ. The shooting happened when Charles arrived at their Chandler home to take JJ to school. The police report states that there was an altercation of some sort, and Tylee went to her room to get a bat, which Charles took from her and then hit Alex.

Gilbert and Chandler Police Departments confirm detectives will be heading up to Salt Lake City this week to meet with other agencies involved in this case. Lori has not posted bond.

Local company selling ‘Where are the kids?’ shirts as law enforcement prepares for meeting

IDAHO FALLS — “Where are the kids?”

The message is appearing on T-shirts, signs and even cupcakes. All of it is about Joshua “JJ” Vallow and Tylee Ryan – two Rexburg kids who have been missing since September. Their mother, Lori Vallow Daybell, remains in the Madison County Jail on two counts of felony child desertion and nonsupport of children, along with some misdemeanors.

Swanson’s All American Sports, an Idaho Falls-based apparel company, announced Monday it will be selling hoodies, sweatshirts and T-shirts with “Where are the kids?” printed on the front. Five dollars from every shirt sold will be donated to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

“We have received calls about making the shirts over the last couple of weeks,” owner Doug Swanson tells EastIdahoNews.com. “We are lucky enough to work with the kids in our community every day and like everyone out there, we just want to help find Tylee and JJ.”

Hoodies and sweatshirts are $20, and T-shirts sell for $13. As of Tuesday morning, 10 shirts had been sold and Swanson is expecting many more to be purchased over the upcoming weeks.

Bondsmen are refusing to help 'cult' mom Lori Vallow post $1million bail ahead of her trial on charges over her missing kids
  • Lori Vallow is being held at Madison County Jail in Idaho on charges of neglect and desertion of her children Joshua 'JJ' Vallow and Tylee Ryan
  • A judge reduced her bail from $5million to $1million on Friday
  • She is required to put up 10 percent of that amount - $100,000 - to be released
  • But four days later she is still in custody as two local bond companies say they were contacted by Lori's representatives but declined to work with her
  • The businesses did not say why but it's been speculated they are worried about being stiffed with the full $1million bail if Lori fails to appear in court

Police confirm FBI is looking into Lori Vallow's third husband's death

10 Mar 2020

PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) -
Phoenix police say the FBI reached out to them about a month ago in regards to another death involved in the Lori Vallow saga.

Lori's third husband, Joseph Ryan, died in 2018 from an apparent heart attack. His body was cremated. Phoenix police say they provided information to the FBI, but so far, the FBI has not asked them to do any further investigation.

Lori and Ryan divorced in 2004. Court paperwork from 2011 outlined a contentious custody battle over their daughter, Tylee Ryan. Joseph claimed Lori would not let him see his daughter, despite their custody agreement.

After one visit with Tylee, Lori's brother Alex Cox attacked Joseph with a stun gun and threatened to kill him. Cox was convicted of that crime.

A family member says that after Joseph's death, Lori told them she received his life insurance policy and planned to share it with Tylee. That family member also said Lori stated Joseph was "evil" and "God took care of him."

Message posted by Owner/ Administrator, (Head SheepDog) at Another Voice of Warning LDSAVOW. com on a date between (Lori's first Hawaii court appearance on) Feb 21st and (Chad vacating the condo on) Feb 28th 2020:

"Had another conversation with chad this evening. There were 30 some different news agencies camped outside his condo all trying to get him to talk.

"They are sticking to the original plan of saying nothing whatsoever about the kids until they are in court.

"Yes, there is a plan, and they are following it through to the end.

"Yes, there really is a compelling reason for them NOT to offer up a photo or video or voice recording of either of the kids.

"Yes, I still stand by all my previous comments that the kids are just fine, alive and well. :)

"Chad has been working on writing down their side of the story, and just as soon as they are actually in a courtroom we will get all the hidden details that will explain to everyone just what has been going on.

"Sorry for being cryptic.
"But as was just proven recently, everything I say here on behalf of him WILL BE USED AGAINST him in the court of public opinion and in the court of law.

"We have but to endure a few more weeks of this media circus, and all the hate, false accusations and innuendo. Once the extradition has been completed Chad will return to defend himself at long last."

This was posted on a FB group. Pic taken in Yellowstone on the day Tylee was last seen. WAY out there theory by me ... white car behind the truck. Could support theory Tylee left park with someone else?

Cult member describes Daybell Vallow religious views

10 Mar 2020

[...]

On Saturday, a member of the religious group that follows Vallow and Daybell spoke to CBS 5 Investigates. We are concealing her identity to protect her from possible harassment.

She said both she and Daybell communicate with spirits, and that they are true Mormons. She said they stockpile food and supplies because the world will come to an end. And she said she will not judge Daybell, because all people are sinners.

She referred to her organization as a cult, but it was unclear whether she was being sarcastic. When asked what the group was called, she said "Preparing a People."

That is the name of a media organization, which held events and hosted podcasts, which, at times, featured Daybell and Vallow. But in an email exchange, the owner of the organization's parent company stated that there is no connection between Preparing a People and any cult or occult activity.

"Life is sacred to us. We are innocent of any involvement in Chad or Lori’s personal lives (and never knew Lori or any family members). Our relationship was mostly business, both owning our own separate businesses. We have wondered if Chad/Lori used us for their media purposes, without us knowing what was going on behind the scenes. It does feel like a big betrayal, and probably to anyone who attended our events," stated Nancy James.

She also stated that Preparing a People no longer holds events.

SALT LAKE CITY — FOX 13 has confirmed that detectives from Arizona and Idaho are planning a big face-to-face meeting this week in Salt Lake City, potentially involving the FBI.

A retired FBI senior executive is explaining what the investigators might talk about, as new reports circulate about a bizarre connection in the case.

The Fremont County, Idaho Sheriff’s Office as well as the Chandler and Gilbert, Arizona Police Departments told FOX 13 they are sending people to the meeting. The FBI could not confirm if they’d be present, though their field office is located in Salt Lake City.

Rexburg Police also did not confirm to FOX 13 if they’d be in attendance, however, they are the lead agency in the investigation into the disappearance of 7-year old Joshua “JJ” Vallow and 17-year old Tylee Ryan.
