My thoughts exactly. And more probable IMO than the storage unit timestamp being broken.

My guess is from memory, video or both BB/LE identified the car but not the driver. Possibly they could even tell the shooter was a man, but could not make out identifying features. If they could that person surely would have been arrested.

While Alex was the primary family henchman, I’m sure he’s not the only one familiar w/firearms. Melani had the biggest reason to want BB dead but she’s probably smart enough to have a solid alibi. And Lori or Alex may have decided to “help her out” without her knowledge. Whoever decided BB had to go may well have found someone less obvious to do the dirty work.

Perhaps it was Chad (based on our storage video discussion we know it’s difficult to to distinguish him from Alex in grainy surveillance video), maybe Melani’s new beau soon-to-be-husband. Or some associate **** of Alex/Melani/Lori that we don’t even know about. Just because Alex wasn’t there doesn’t mean he didn’t arrange it.

Thinking about it, it was pretty damn stupid of whoever it was to use that car. Are they really that stupid, or was it a spur of the moment thing?

Maybe it wasn't Alex in the storage footage on the 2nd Oct but Chad or someone else?

Didn’t the neighbor say he helped move her in-maybe, innocently, he was the one that was there on the 3rd Helping her out? MOO-it was Alex that shot at BB

Let's have the wording of this here, (I love words from the horse's mouth :) ) -

(from Lori to the LIFE Academy) -

Hi [redacted] and Life friends,

Since the circumstances in our lives have changed drastically
since my husband passed away last month. I have been
offered a job out of state and have had to accept it. We have
had to move quickly since the job started ASAP. So I'm sad to
inform you that Joshua won't be returning this year.

You have been so great to get him in this year and his DDD
funding and scholarship have just all finally been settled. I
really appreciate all you have done for JJ. I will continue to
recommend life to all of our friends like I did with [redacted]

We are doing our best to adjust to our new life.

Please let me know what you need me to do to withdraw him.
U can email me a withdrawal form or whatever needs to happen.

Thank you again Life Academy. We really loved our time with
you.

This is the subtext I am reading -

My husband passed away, and left us with no money. I've been forced to get a job! I'm really not lying or hiding my whereabouts from you - I wrote 'out of state' and not 'California' or whatever rubbish I told you on the phone because 'out of state' has been on my mind for some reason. That's more than I've told my adult son but my relationship with the school requires candidness!

I had to take the job offered and had to move quickly. It's important you don't think I instigated my plans to move job and house, even though I moved the very next day after JJ's last day. The job even started without me, or will start very soon!!

JJ won't be returning at all but if I put this year you can hope it's not final.

Let me offer you some butter, because we waited so long for the funding. I'll recommend you to loads of people I don't know, out of state, so please don't be upset we didn't do all the farewell stuff.

This new life is so darned hard.

I won't let you have my address to post me the form. Thank you, we did love you!!!

Funny, and truthful even if exaggerated, but... let's play investigative reporter/LE here for a minute. What are the pros and cons to Lori drafting such a long letter? Does it help or hurt the likelihood of JJ being alive?

I really don’t think it did either, it’s more LV covering herself and playing the victim (having to move after husbands unfortunate death/suicide/murder) and trying to come across as the caring mum (fail). JMO

The police photographed the contents of the locker, potentially they were the least shocking items. We just don’t know what was in the locker and what it was used for MOO
Good point, the police were there before the media. Could very well be the police have removed things from the storage locker, taken as evidence. Could be they wanted those pictures in the MSM so LV would see what they have removed?

It was early September when she moved in and early October, just a week after the last sighting of the kids on 23rd Sept when she got the storage locker. If it was the neighbour, he would have surely asked about them moving the kids stuff into storage and mentioned it in his MSM interview IMO.

True story: I once knew a girl allergic to cats, who claimed she and the husband washed the cats (!) on the regular to remove both the dander and the loose hair. (I think there was also some hair brushing involved in the in-between times.)

Also I appreciated the laughs I got about the white girl's skates and JJ's interest in tires. (Though in all seriousness, maybe he would have liked a tire swing... I don't know. Before my inner ear got worse, I used to really enjoy swinging (even as late as college when the campus inexplicably had a good old-fashioned iron swingset), and I'm sensory defensive if otherwise neurotypical; so maybe?).
There’s a product called “Allerpet” that’s designed to minimize allergic reactions to dogs and cats. It comes in a shampoo and also some kind of spray. I’ve volunteered at a few shelters and we recommend it to people who have an allergy but don’t want to give up their pet. Surprisingly, it seems to work a lot of the time for people willing to shampoo their pets like your friend did. She deserves a fist-bump too.

Up to now I had missed the part that Lori placed the ad on August 9th, weeks before even moving to ID. JJ was clearly alive at the time. Absolutely heartless to take away a child’s dog weeks after their father dies. Seriously, no mother who gives a damn would do that.

Clearly LV is a no typical mother, but still the timing seems weird. Selling a dog requires taking phone calls, answering questions, scheduling meetings. Seems like she’d have bigger fish to fry. And once the dog was gone she’d have to console JJ and possibly defend her decision to Tylee and others. So why get rid of the dog then? Some possibilities:

1). She needed the money.

Unlikely. Even if her cash baggie was empty, it would be easier/less hassle to sell something else— like one of the many vehicles these guys have been juggling.

2). She knew JJ was going away someplace where he wouldn’t need or couldn’t take the dog

Maybe, and that would mean she knew months in advance JJ was going to disappear. Or possibly just thought they’d all be moving to Hawaii and didn’t want to deal w/the paperwork required.

3). She was sick of dealing with a dog

Entirely possible. But why go to the trouble of finding a new home for him when she could just have Alex leave him in the desert like she had w/previous dogs according to JJ’s family. (I’m extremely glad she didn’t!)

4). She was going to live with someone who is allergic to dogs. Or hates them.

@RexburgSleuth or others who knew Chad, did he have dogs? Was he allergic?

A guess: The cars are leased and don't have any cash value for her.

I don't think Lori has as much money as we think or as much as she would like other people to think. I would guess she had burned through much of what Charles had earned. (That's not to say that Chad didn't see an increase in his standard of living after his wife died peacefully in her sleep. So there might be a baggie of cash available to Lori.)

Absolutely.

There were boxes clearly visible. The media only released images of a few hand picked things. I don't want to accuse them of picking only the things that would be shocking, like the blankets and family albums because they would never try to sensationalize to get better ratings, right?
At 1:57 in the video from the article below you see one cardboard box and one black plastic container. I don't think there's much more there than what we have seen so far.

Wow, thanks... some interesting insights indeed, from Brandon's PI, as follows:

“Lori Vallow certainly got Melani involved in this," Robertson said. "By all accounts, the Vallow and the Boudreaux marriages were all idyllic. They were loving couples, they had picture-perfect families. They were like something out of a magazine until they got involved in this kind of cult situation and things started going off the rails.”

That so-called cult centered around Melani Boudreaux and Lori Vallow's religious beliefs, which focused on doomsday ideology. It was through those beliefs Lori Vallow first came in contact with Chad Daybell.

“Chad Daybell was someone who was involved in Lori Vallow’s life for some time – a year or two prior,” Robertson said.

“Some of their beliefs about apocalyptic end times and they all got kind of sucked into this belief system and Chad Daybell seemed to be a leader in that group,” he continued.

Eventually, Lori Vallow, Melani Boudreaux and Cox would all move to Rexburg where Chad Daybell was living.

[...]

While it's too complex for him to have a theory about what happened, Robertson believes it's all centered around their religious beliefs.

“Some of their writings suggested they were going to get rid of their spouses who were non-believers,” he said. "The struggle for all of us is trying to put a rational explanation on irrational acts.”

When asked if he believes JJ and Tylee are still alive, Robertson said he hopes so.

(He also says that he surveilled them in Rexburg for a while before the police did their welfare check; and did not see either JJ or Tylee during this surveillance.) :(

MOO but she strikes me as a Champagne lifestyle on a lemonade budget kind of person. All about keeping up appearances. I suspect she’s loosing it now it’s all coming to light. JMO

Wow, would the mods let us discuss the cult side of things now it’s in MSM and appears to be of more significance?

They had a PI on them well before the police were involved, that’s going to be important IMO.
