Thanks Idaho Lynx!

Too bad the reporter doesn't give names on the witnesses.... :(

Coverage of this trial has been weak. There is a Notice and Agreement Re: Purchase of Audio showing up for each day of trial in the court record. I don't know what that means unless no reporter is actually sitting in court all day taking notes and is listening to an audio of the day's events later and then writing a quick newspaper paragraph. We'll see if the articles get more detailed and longer once the main players are brought to the stand.

In the court record, names are given (some just the last name) next to the subpoenas issued and next to the Motions for Transport for the prisoners testifying. I could give you a list of those for future reference if you'd like.

A list would be nice Idaho Lynx! :)
Where is this "court record" that you mentioned? A link? Maybe I can do that myself. TIA!

Niner: I am still using this site. The one you said you couldn't access. The public can see the titles ie, motions, orders, etc on a case, but you have to be authorized, ie a legal entity, to click on and see the guts of the documents. I am just the public.

TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — The trial for a Twin Falls man accused of murdering his former girlfriend’s daughter continued Wednesday.

Molina+trial.jpg

Joshua Molina, faces four injury to a child charges and one murder charge, in the death of Lyryk Altom.

Molina’s sister took the stand, stating she saw Amanda, Lyryk’s mom act aggressively with her, giving an account of an incident that allegedly happened at a softball game, where Lyryk tried to follow Molina out onto the field, and Amanda yanked her back, with enough force to both pull her and pick her up at the same time.

Molina also took to the stand in his own defense, and said his and Lyryk’s relationship was great, and that she was a total sweetheart and very loving.

"Sweetheart, very easy to take care of, very loving, I don't think I ever met anybody that came into contact with her that had any issues with her," Molina testified.

The defense also showed selfies Molina had taken of him and Lyryk, where they would be snuggling or in one in particular where he had just did her hair. He also said that she called him daddy, and he called her his princess.

KMVT will be updating this as more information comes out during the trial.

Well I guess the State rested their case on Tuesday then. I tried searching for other days at the article site, but all they had was the 2nd day & the one you just posted. Not very good reporting on this trial....

I agree on the reporting. There has not been any articles in The Times News, the local newspaper, either. I do know Amanda Dunlap was here to testify because she was subpoenaed and showed up on the jail headcount list on Monday and then was not on the list Tuesday. Not one word on her testimony has been reported.

There has been information from facebook comments which I know is a no-no for repeating here.

Well - I shall continue posting this until we hear anything different....

Closing arguments for infant murder case

Closing arguments for the Twin Falls man accused of the murder of his girlfriend's 20 month year old daughter took place Friday morning and into the afternoon.

Joshua Molina faces four counts of felony injury to a child and one count of the first degree murder of Lyrk Altom.

The Twin Falls county prosecutor Grant Loebs presented to the jury that all the evidence that has been brought before them over the past two weeks points to Molina being guilty on all charges. He did this while urging them to use common sense when deliberating this complex case.

The defense on the other hand argued that the officers who conducted this investigation had painted a target on the back of Molina, saying that an effort was not made to investigate anyone else.

"Take everything I say, or Mr, Loebs has said, and what the state is about to say with a grain of salt, and consider everything. I believe that when you do, you will see that there is absolute reasonable doubt to believe that Mr. Molina committed any of these crimes," said defense attorney Steven Rey McRae.

The jury was dismissed to deliberate this Friday afternoon at around 2:00 p.m. The judge is expected to call them back in at around 5:00 p.m. today to hear if they have a verdict. KMVT will update this story as soon as that verdict is reached.

VERDICT IS IN

UPDATE: Jury returns verdicts in infant murder case

The jury has returned their verdict in the trial of a Twin Falls man accused of murder in the death of his then girlfriend's 20 month old daughter.

About 2:30 P.M. Sunday, the jury announced they found Joshua Molina guilty on one count of felony injury to a child, another count was changed to a misdemeanor, and Molina was also found guilty of that.

The jury was unable to reach a verdict on the two other charges of felony injury to a child, as well as the first degree murder charge.

Twin Falls County prosecutor Grant Loebs will decide whether or not to bring in another jury in hopes of reaching a verdict on the remaining charges.

There is no word yet when sentencing will be.
