During a news conference at Boise City Hall West, Robert's aunt Trish Burrill singled out those who found the boy's body and notified authorities. She said the family wanted to meet those people.

Robert Manwill's mother, Melissa Scott Jenkins, and his father, Charles Manwill, attended the press conference. His father, from New Plymouth, had custody of the boy, but he was staying with his mother in Boise July 24 — the night he disappeared.

The family also offered thanks to the many law enforcement agencies that have been involved in the investigation. Boise Police Department Deputy Chief Jim Kerns said Wednesday that the boy did not die in an accident and that the death was a homicide.

A candlelight vigil is planned for 8 p.m. Friday on Cherry Lane near Vista Avenue on the Boise Bench. A memorial service has also been scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday at Cloverdale Funeral Home, 1200 N. Cloverdale Road, Boise.

She said Robert would be honored at Meridian Speedway Saturday and said his Sunday memorial service would be open to the public.

For people who wanted to learn more about the boy, the family created a website: www.myspace.com/meetrobertmanwill

The memorial service will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday at Cloverdale Funeral Home, 1200 North Cloverdale Road, between Fairview Avenue and Franklin Road.

Speaking on behalf of her nephew's family, Trish Burrill thanks investigators, police and the community for their outpouring of support in the search for 8-year-old Robert Manwill.

I am so angry about this case! How many times does this have to happen before things change? IMO, Robert's mother is responsible for what happened to him whether she was the actual perpetrator or not! If she didn't do this, her boyfriend did. Parents MUST take a proactive role in safeguarding children! There had to have been a very good reason for the bf not being allowed around the other child. If someone knowingly IGNORES the fact that someone is not to be around children, and willingly puts their child at risk :behindbar I think they are equally guilty of harming the child. Sorry for the rant. I'm just livid and so upset that this keeps happening to our precious babies.

I blame the person who had the authority to prevent it. The family court judge who ordered unsupervised visitation to a woman who plead GUILTY in criminal court to fracturing the skull of an infant.
She wasn't just accused, she was criminally charged and convicted mere months before this happened.

Well, to make it worse, I heard on "Issues" that the 18 month old boy is back with his mother and the boyfriend! What judge allowed that???

Won't happen. It's difficult to pull legal insanity off. You have to not know the difference between right and wrong. Hiding a body, lying about and covering up a crime says they knew they did wrong.

I have heard all types of speculation in the past about a suspect checking into a mental hospital. I have heard that LE can not issue a warrant for arrest for a patient in a mental hospital. Is this true? Is the mental hospital a safe haven for this monster? Did he think that he would be protected in this hospital? Does anyone have the answers?

I hope someone does know ~ it's a very good question!

I think the Mother could have found it in her heart to say a few words about her dear son. There's not enough grief in this world that would keep my mouth shut if my son was discovered floating in a cold, lonely canal!! I would want to thank everyone that helped find my baby..Of course, if I felt guilty about something, I might want to hide in the back row like she did!!!

This beautiful little boy has touched my heart. I cannot look at his picture without tearing up. He was a special child, who had a purpose in his short little life. To have touched so many and to bring awareness to the fact that we need to keep our children safe. It is every child's birthright. God bless Robert.

Family sets up web-page for community to meet Robert

Thursday evening Robert Manwill's family addressed the community during a scheduled news conference. With Robert's dad, Charles Manwill, and his mom, Melissa Jenkins, standing behind her, Robert's aunt thanked the community for all their support.

"We also know that Robert is in your hearts and that you need closure just as we do," said Trish Burrill, Robert's Aunt and the family spokesperson.

The family has set up a website for the community to learn more about Robert. On his Myspace page they wrote: "Robert loved to meet new people and make new friends. He was so outgoing that we had to make new rules just for him. One of his rules was that he had to ask before he hugged someone. He loved life and people so much that he would run up to strangers and give them hugs."

Burrill invited the community to Meridian Speedway on Saturday as they race in Robert's name. She also shared funeral arrangements made for the little boy. Robert will be laid to rest on Sunday at Cloverdale Funeral Home. The service starts at 2:00p.m.

On Friday night a community wide vigil is being held across the street from Robert's mother's apartment. Robert's family says they plan to attend the service that is currently being organized by several members of the community.

No - this is not true. It is probably some sort of urban legend. A warrant can be issued for anyone, anywhere. Now.... there may be some difficulty in executing the warrant if the perp is in the hospital - any hospital, not just a mental facility. I don't believe LE could make him leave the facility against doctor's orders. However, they could place him under arrest and guard his room, until the doctor said he was well enough to go and then they could take him to jail.

That's a great question I'd love to hear the answer to. It may differ from state to state. I know that LE was frustrated that they couldn't talk to Mark Hacking. Not sure about how an arrest would be handled.

Okay - if it turns out that mom had anything to do with this - I am going to scream really, really loudly. I can't believe she was there!
