That's pretty gross, considering all the time and trouble he caused the studio and production staff, but it's possible that legally until someone is declared guilty, their employer not paying them could be seen as punitive or worthy of a lawsuit...

I would imagine that Fox is more concerned with what is financially feasible (paying him for two episodes vs. attorney costs when he sues if they don't) than what is morally right.

A contract. And of course, Mr. Smollett is considered "innocent" until proven guilty. However, the fact that he was written off of the show, is evidence to me that "Empire" is keeping Smollett away.

I can't help but notice that the Roseann actress made a rude, nasty COMMENT on social media, and was immediately fired from her own #1 show, and her character killed off with an opioid overdose. She didn't even commit an actual, chargeable crime of any kind.

Poor Jussie Smollett gets a *paid vacation* for 2 episodes of his TV show, while being charged with a heinous hate hoax felony, and then brought right back to the season opener. Hypocrisy. Massive.

Fascinating.

JS will appear in the season opener March 13.

JS's next court appearance is March 14.

The FBI investigation (the terroristic death threat letter with white powder) is still in progress. There are going to be charges soon for that, IMO. Before the end of the month, I predict.

A lot of people seem to think this is blowing over, settling down, people have largely forgotten about the letter, and ripples of celebrity "forgiveness" and support are surfacing. As though Hollywood people are moving on from the hate hoax. Media and celebrities seem to have an exceptionally short attention span, in addition to being deeply hypocritical. January was a "long" time ago, in media and celebrity "time". I think things legally are just getting started.

I personally don't believe that Jussie was *not* part of the terroristic letter hoax. I think it's extremely likely he orchestrated that hate hoax, too. (I definitely won't be called for jury duty, so I'm allowed to form an opinion.)

I think he's guilty of several serious crimes (state and federal). I hope he's appropriately charged and convicted, and serves at least 5-10 years of hard time. He shouldn't get a pass because of his race, sexual identity, and celebrity status.

I was thoroughly disgusted when Robin Roberts started saying earlier this week that she couldn't be "hard" on Jussie in her interview, because they were both gay and black. Her words. Say what? She basically said because they were both in the same "identity club", she *couldn't* hold him accountable for the truth. She gave him a pass for his lies because of their shared "identity". Sick.

Men who worked with brothers from Smollett case say they were homophobic

Lawrence Johnson Jr. said the Osundairo brothers actually got into a confrontation with another extra who was openly gay because of his sexuality.

"There was an openly gay guy named Alex. Didn't try to hide it. Really flamboyant,” Johnson said. "These guys didn't like it. They started picking with him. Moving his bag back and forth that he had on set with him.”

Two witnesses told FOX 32 they heard Abel Osundairo use homophobic slurs on the set of Empire back in 2015. Ticarus Bunch, who played a prison guard on the show, recalled the incident.

"We were talking about friends and it was like, 'could you have a homosexual friend even though you were heterosexual,'" Bunch recounted. "And he was just like ‘hell naw,' he not gonna be friends with no fa**ot. And it jarred everybody like whoa, like that's very, very, very offensive. It was obvious that this guy just, he's very homophobic. He just do not like gays.”

Johnson also said that he heard Abel say something similar when the gay actor walked away.

"Just heard the taller brother say, ‘I wouldn't hang around gays.’ I don't know if I can use a derogatory word, but the ‘F’ word. ‘I don't want anybody like that around me. I can't deal with that,’” Johnson claims Abel said. "It was just like one of those things like 'wow, why would you say that?'"

"That's when he was like ‘yeah, I’m not gonna be friends with no fa**ots, naw, hell (expletive) naw,’ and it was real disturbing,” Bunch added.

While both say the other brother, Ola Osundairo, was quiet during the confrontation, FOX 32 obtained deleted tweets from Ola's Twitter account making derogatory comments about gays. Bunch described Smollett as "a cool guy" and thinks he used poor judgement hiring the brothers to train him, which is what Smollett’s defense team is also saying.

So this is the angle the defense is going to take, the brothers were homophobic and came up with this crazy scheme on their own! Can't wait for the other "witnesses" to come forward and talk about how racist they are too

This ^^ doesn't explain why the 3 were always hanging out together, training together, texting each other and calling each other.

EXCLUSIVE: Dozens Of Northwestern Hospital Workers May Have Been Fired For Improperly Reviewing Jussie Smollett’s Records

The nurse says she was called in at the end of her shift last Tuesday, fired on the spot and escorted out of the hospital.

She says she wasn’t asked any questions and never had a chance to offer an explanation. She says she never accessed the actor’s chart but simply scrolled past it when looking for another patient’s name.

She’s appealing and believes other may have been fired for simply scrolling past the name as well.

Well, her login should have some kind of electronic trail, shouldn’t it? We’ll see...

Every single person who was fired at that hospital unquestionably deserved it. They knew exactly what they were doing, and these weren't innocent mistakes.

The electronic charting systems in health care facilities are exquisitely detailed and mind-numbingly thorough in what they track, and EVERY person who uses these systems goes thru initial and ongoing training. This includes very thorough education and warnings about accessing records you are not authorized to access. Every provider definitely knows this is grounds for discipline/ firing. There were no little "scrolling" mistakes here.

These systems track every log in, every key stroke, down to the minutes and seconds viewed-- everything. If a provider needs to amend an entry, there is no longer any way to "back date" the record to CYA-- you can make a late entry, but it's very clear when the late entry was made, and by whom.

We often have to change our log in credentials every 30 days-- or less, if there has been a breach. And most places have double or triple layer log ins, with automatic (maddingly short!) time outs (so you can't walk away with a screen open.) Many systems also have safeguards to prevent too many people from being in a record at the same time-- or require one provider to finish out their record, before the next provider can log into the record (such as between the OR and PACU).

I have personally seen several staff members fired and frog marched out of a facility, for peeking at records of prominent community members, or cases with horrific diagnoses.

I have even seen mass staff "warnings" in pop up windows or by email (when something prominent was going on) in some facilities with reminders that unauthorized record access is grounds for severe disciplinary actions or termination.

Whoever these gawkers were, they will not win any complaints or lawsuits. They are done at that facility, and will have a lot of explaining to do for the rest of their careers when/ if they seek another job. The only thing that surprises me is that it's been about 6 weeks since the incident-- that seems like a long time in my experience, but the facility was making sure their ducks were in order before the mass firings. That's my $0.02. (FWIW, lol!).

Northwestern Hospital employees fired over Smollett records

The Northwestern Memorial Hospital employee thought nothing of it when a co-worker walked over to her desk and asked if “Empire” actor Jussie Smollett had been admitted under an alias.

Now, the employee — an administrator with an advanced degree — is out of a job, after she was told she’d inappropriately accessed Smollett’s records, violating hospital rules.

The administrator, who didn’t want her name used, told the Chicago Sun-Times she was stunned by her dismissal — and she suspects others may have been fired or disciplined for doing the same thing.

“I didn’t get any information about [Smollett]. I never clicked on his name and entered his record,” said the former administrator.

Another employee, a woman who described herself as a Northwestern medical assistant with almost two decades of “exemplary employment,” said she also was fired for doing nothing more than searching for Smollett’s name in the hospital computer system.

“I never saw any doctor’s notes, lab reports, X-rays. Essentially, all I saw was his name and date of birth,” said the former employee, who would not give her name. “I was just kind of, like, starstruck, … with no ill or malicious intent. I didn’t call the news and say, ‘He’s here.'”

RSBM. The woman in the article I posted above was called into a meeting with her boss and an HR rep a few weeks after, but was officially fired at the end of February.

That is a bit overkill. I have worked in a hospital, and normally, a person who looked at a chart, even for curiosity, would get a write up. Not termination.

Of course, they can terminate, anyone for a first offense, but it seems extreme. Where I worked, you put in initial of last name and last four of Social, sometimes you do get someone else, you check the chart to make sure, may look at appointments, or you may look at a colleague's case, who asked you to do a "quick" review on something. There are many reasons why a person checks a chart that is not directly their patient.

Although, that being said, if she was looking out of curiosity, the chart was probably flagged, and that was inappropriate. Termination seems harsh, but perhaps it is a lesson. I remember looking at a chart of a man who killed a child, I wondered if he had been in my group, my supervisor asked me about it, I explained, he was fine. High profile charts are usually flagged.

NBC is reporting at least 50 people were fired. I can’t blame the hospital for firing anyone who accessed any records that they shouldn’t have accessed. They are trying to protect themselves from getting sued I’m sure. The woman quoted in the below article admits she did it out of “morbid curiosity”.
