Had he apologized back in 2019, for his stupid stunt, and sought some therapy, he would have been forgiven and the incident forgotten.
Instead, he has now messed up his reputation and done a great disservice to the black community.

Exactly. Had he simply apologized and fessed up, this would be over and done with and life (and his career) would go on.

Instead he continued to lie, fought the charges, took the stand, lied some more, and went down with the ship.

Smollett will remain free on his original bond pending sentencing.

I agree. The judge will perhaps sentence him to 18 months but suspend it, probation, order him to pay restitution for the police expenditures.

Yes -- I noticed the same.

I was watching CNN live but learned the verdict via Twitter since it took CNN at least 5-6 minutes to break the news live. I believe the delivery would have been different if found NOT guilty. MOO
