I found this site while searching for a picture of precious Ben. There are 2 pictures of this little angel and 1 picture of the parents with the little girl Natalie.

Not to offend anyone but....this site (to me) has creepy/scary avatars  of the members. I don't know what kind of site it is...I didn't go poking through it...just straight to the pictures and left :o .

Maybe someone can bring the photos here.

Good article with an interview from the grandmother. Has anyone found their myspace pages?

http://www.week.com/news/local/15890892.html

Tracy Hermann's MySpace page has pictures of her children, family photos, and a small caption that says "proud parent"...so does James Sargent's.
They're the same proud parents Peoria prosecutors say neglected their 5–month–old son Benjamin as he starved to death alone in his crib last week, sitting in his own feces.
Rosemary says Benjamin was safe and sound when she dropped him off the week before.

"I saw my son sing to him, play with him. I've seen her holding him and playing with him." - Grandma Rosemary

I think this speaks volumes. Describing TRULY good parents would be a more 'gushy' remark I think. Not a couple of 'I saw them acknowledge him'. I am thinking of my good friends who have a small baby and if I were to describe their parenting, I would say, "They ADORE that child. She goes everywhere with them and they are always so attentive and so positive around her....always so caring and loving....etc" You get the point, I am sure....I've seen more than them 'holding' or 'singing to' her.

So this is the son's mother. I read somewhere he was adopted. I wonder if he was a foster care child or adopted at birth? Benjamin was a beautiful little baby who deserved so much more.

Post 99 has a link to an article that that states he was adopted...Don't know at what stage in his life, tho.

"He was not left in his car seat," the distraught grandmother said. "When I left that house, he did not have a snowsuit on him. I got that for him when we were out. I took him out shopping and we went out to eat.
"I left at 9:30 p.m. that night. I got him ready for bed, changed his diaper, put some ointment on his bottom and gave him a bottle. He wanted to be rocked so I rocked him, gave him some more bottle and then his dad put him into the crib without the car seat, and covered him up with a blanket. Then I left because I had to go home and get to sleep because I work third shift." Her account flies in the face of what prosecutors allege happened to the infant. Peoria County State's Attorney Kevin Lyons has charged James Sargent and Herman with first-degree murder and indicated he could seek the death penalty for what they failed to do for Benjamin.

Here is another article about what the grandmother has to say.

From the link:
Rose Sargent said her son told her last month Hermann wanted to put the child up for adoption. Rose Sargent was unable to care for him because of health constraints. That was the last she heard about adoption, she said Friday night.

The last she heard? Okay, I am not blaming Grandma, but who would let that drop?

As if this story wasn't bad enough . . . .

http://www.pjstar.com/stories/022308/TRI_BFS4P5LK.064.php

In that petition, prosecutors allege the couple's pit bulls tried to attack a 2-year-old girl last April. When a woman went to protect the child, James Sargent allegedly told the woman that he would "cut her head off." Police were called and found a large sword and knife collection in his house as well as some drug paraphernalia. He was arrested for that and sentenced to probation a few months later.

During that incident, Hermann was alleged to have been at James Sargent's side and chose to remain with him even after police arrived.

I just talked to my mom and she said our attorney Thomas Penn is representing him. I can't believe it. He is the best but also very expensive, I wonder where they got the money. He is 5 grand to take your case. So total $10,000.

He could be representing them as their public defender.

He could be representing them as their public defender.

But he is a private attorney, how can he turn public. He may be doing it probono for publicity. He is the best in this area all the way up to Chicago. If anyone can get them off it will be him.

I had a friend who was a criminal attorney in private practice. He had to do so many public defender cases a year. Each qualified private criminal attorney that practiced in that county took turns.

When I was getting my divorce I got a free lawyer through a program to assist women, it didn't cost me anything since at that time I was not working and I think also because I had the restraining order against him. The lawyer I got was a very good one, much better than the one my ex had. Most lawyers I believe do a certain amount of probono work.

I don't cry easily. I'm usually a rock. Just ask my friends here. It's true, but as I read through this, I had to close my record store for an hour. It would upset my customers to see me red-eyed behind the keyboard.
I've been on WS for a few years, and I've read a lot of horrible things, but this felt like someone stabbed me in the gut.
Damn Damn DAMN!
Damn these people to hell and may God in heaven have mercy on my unforgiving soul.
Our sweet little Granddaughter is celebrating her 1st birthday with a little party today. She is dying from an incurable disease that will take her away before her third birthday. In fact, this may be the only birthday she ever has. She's surrounded by people who would do anything, ANYTHING, to keep her in this world, and here's these dispicable, oxygen-wasting excuses for human beings who between them don't have the brains God gave a small bar of soap and allow their tiny baby to starve to death in a country that produces enough food to supply every man, woman & child in it with 3 squares a day plus desert.
I sincerely hope I'm not offending anyone with my little tyrade and pity-party here. It's not my intention, in fact, I need to get onto another thread and lighten up before I call my family to wish Haley happy birthday.

HeavenlyDaze....my best wishes to you and yours. I can only imagine what stories like this do to you. Everything you said was spot on.

HD your words speak nothing but the truth. I said it before myself that I have an exceptionally hard time with this one myself and my children are happy and healthy. My heart goes out to you in your time of need. Warm hugs to you and your sweet granddaughter. She is lucky to have such a loving Grandma and family.

If I only had a magic wand.....

Thanks for the linx golfmom- I read an online questionaire that she answered- It looks pretty truthful- She is allergic to smoking?, and is against drugs. When asked if she does them: "are we talking drugs like the doctor gives you when you have a cold or the bad stupid s***(eta) stupid people do to forget their stupid lives? AND i do not do drugs ... and i don't take meds though somepeople think i should be on them lol .
For some reason I dont think they were on drugs. I think they were online gamers that got carried away. Some 'gamers' are into their games and play for days at a time. It sounds like she is a caffeine junkie- I am getting the feeling they were gamers too involved with playing. Even their MS screen names sound like a nik: assassinous nighshade and lord aragorn67. I also see that he is a LOTR fan ( I dont think they're violent). I am not into 'role-playing games, but maybe someone who is can look at their profiles and try to figure it out- There arent too many major ones.
I cant imagine the pain that poor baby went thru- He had to be SCREAMING loud. She seems to adore her young daughter whom she calls "Pixie". Poor Pixie had to hear baby Benjamin cry himself to death- May he rest in peace and them in H***.!!!
