Does anyone think they've got a good idea of who the suspects are from this video and they are watching them until Homeland Security can get a clean image sufficient to make arrests?

Ocean: as I said, I really hope that a sneaking suspicion I have is WRONG. Perhaps suicide can be discounted as early as tonight. I truly hope that the new "significant" video will debunk any other possibility about the officers death. I want to know exactly what happened. So far, LE has been less than informative about key facts of this case. The fact that they cannot relieve the fears of that town by being forthright about what they do and do not know, must be torturous to the good citizens of Fox Lake. JMO I'm sorry that my thoughts are offensive to you. I want this solved as much as you do. JMO

One reason for keeping the video private (based on my extensive history as a detective - ha!) is so as not to alert the perp/s that LE is on to them.
Maybe the footage has provided clues that are being investigated as we type and LE doesn't need the help of the public at this time.

Like steelman suggests, if the men are local, maybe LE knows of them and is gathering evidence prior to arrest while, at the same time, watching them closely.
Oops, except LE responded aggressively yesterday, to the tune of $75,000., to the false report.
So much for my previous thoughts unless one of the two videos resulted in strong clues over night.

Fox Lake PD hasn't handled murders (like Chicago PD does on a daily basis) especially the murder of one of their own.

Plus cubby has posted a few recent political happenings within the town.
Who knows what's going on or if these are coincidences.
The detectives and everyone are just human and sleep deprived too I bet.

Anyway, sorry for preaching but, for some reason, I felt the need to defend and support.

I have full trust in the Fox Lake LE, local municipalities' LE, Lake County and Illinois State LE, and all the other LE agencies assisting in this case. I live in this ever so humble, exquisitely beautiful Midwest county. As others have conveyed, though it is not Cook County (Chicago), it is very much part of the greater Chicagoland area. With all these expert, seasoned, thoroughly experienced agencies involved, as well as with federal involvement, and the perplexing nature of this case, this crazy thought ran through my mind. EL Chapo. Please forgive me if it sounds far reaching and extreme. He had deep connections in this part of the world, and escaped from the Mexican prison in July. I truly am not trying to stir things up, just brainstorming I suppose.

I haven't seen one thing that even make me think it was a suicide. Everything points to this being a cruel cold blooded homicide.

Why would a 32 year veteran who was extremely well liked in his community commit suicide when he was planning to retire at the end of this month?

What do you mean when you said "there is a lot of black people in this so called upscale community' and 'I really hope he wasn't trying to make a statement or prove a point.' By taking his own life and putting his family through all of this? I don't think I have ever been so puzzled when trying to figure out what all this post means? Prove a point? What point? Has anyone reported this officer isn't what everyone else has said he was which is he was a wonderful dedicated officer and very active in his community.

Sorry I am just shocked by your post and truly don't understand any of it especially based on all we have heard about this slain officer. I haven't heard anyone say this man was suicidal, vindictive or whatever. Much to the contrary. There were people of all races at his vigil so what does blacks living in the neighborhood have anything to do with it? There are two white guys and a black male they are looking for so what point was he trying to prove?

Sorry, for all the questions. Cady but I am honestly trying to understand where you are heading with all of this. If I don't ask then I don't know.

And, it is just a notion. It is not meant to be offensive or cause disrespect of any kind. So, chill everyone. I think we will know more after the funeral on Monday.

But if you're the perp and you know they have "significant" video do you need more than that to tip you off? I'm not a criminal but if it were me I wouldn't wait around to see what exactly they got from the video. I would assume getting DHS to review the video meant they were on to me.

I think what is happening is anyone in any context does not like being lied to, manipulated etc etc - that is why politicians are where they are !

As a thread , we all gave the story, in the beginning, info sparse, but I think what is happening (for me at least) is this is getting just less and less credible, they want to protect citizens but are not giving any information about what to be afraid or cautious about is , after all this time, ludicrious

If its a bear that I should be really worried about (lets say rabbies-whatever!) and a lion walks by and you have not told me to be very cautious about the bear ..............your with me

and I would think , if I was living in that area,I would really appreciate it if you all told me all you know

"there is a lot of black people" first of all I said ARE there a lot of black people....I am slipping, in my old age, but I would NEVER say "there IS a lot of black people. No clue but what if they're young people and one of them went bonkers and did this criminal act of murdering a police officer (for the first time and never killed anyone before). He may have run home to mamma and they all are shaking in place.
Maybe if drugs are involved this could be one scenario. There are some potent, weird drugs today too. Or, meth. Meth makes people crazy.

There was a kid who murdered a young girl and hid her under his bed for days and went on with life as if everything was normal while his mom and dad remained clueless.

Can't really answer right now. But, ….. if it was your loved one, when would you like to be informed that not all is as it seems to be?
