GUILTY IL - Megan Nichols, 15, found deceased, Fairfield, 3 July 2014 *ARREST in 2020*

I waited on Megan and her bio dad and his ex-girlfriend back in November of 2013. I did not know it was her at the time, since this was prior to her running away, but I know who the adults that were escorting her, because I asked them for their I.D.s because I knew sure as **** the young lady didn't have one and the bio father tried ordering a third drink so I had to sit and watch them and make sure they didn't feed her any booze. They ended up shorting me, i wrote his name on an envelope because I suspected he was trafficking her, blah blah blah...There's much more detail to this story and I don't feel like going into it all tonight, so long story short, I tell my story SEVERAL times to Fairfield PD, I talked with 1 or 2 guys with the FBI.
Important:* Their is one particular time when I had told my story that stands out. The officer had a surprised/shocked tone in his voice when I explained who Megan was with that evening
and he volunteered, "Let me help you out, ma'am. (Insert name here) has only met Megan one time and her mother knew about it."
I'm willing to bet the evening I witnessed was not this particular time.
I wonder since the bio dad is cleared, if he already explained why they were meeting in November 2013 without her mother.

I remember your posting about this. Since most people, including LE (not including FBI) want to pin this on bio dad, I would think if they believed your story, they would have checked it out. They cleared bio dad. He passed a poly, and took it willingly. Mom doesn't believe it was bio dad. Bio dad admits that mom did a great job raising Megan without his help. He had no reason to harm her. My guess is that the FBI has investigated your story, and for whatever reason, decided it had no bearing on the case. Perhaps you have a reason for pushing your story? Maybe you are unaware that they have already investigated this "siting" that no one else remembers? Maybe they have checked out the local surveillance cams at this location where you saw them? Maybe they have verified the date with bio mom? I don't know, but if this was a viable clue, they would have checked it out. Then again, it really has no bearing on the case since she disappeared 8 months later while he was living out of state. JMO

I just think it's odd that he lived so far away, because he had an Oklahoma ID but was in INDIANA about 50 miles outside of Fairfield. Just because someone lives far away doesn't clear them. Also, when was the last time you heard of polygraphs being admissible in court?

They aren't - however, the fact he was willing to take one says a lot. Boyfriend did not take one. Bio dad is not cleared because he lives a long way from Fairfield - he is cleared because he cooperated with the police and was able to prove to their satisfaction that he had nothing to do with Megan's disappearance/murder. And, the other point about this, look at how many people have "seen" Megan in the last 3 1/2 years. It obviously wasn't her. Humans can convince themselves they've seen things that they just didn't see. That's not saying they are lying - it is just human error, maybe because they want to help.

You have a story to tell - you've told it to police and FBI more than once. If it was just the local police, I'd say tell them again. But you said you've told the FBI twice. It is starting to look like you have an agenda in pointing the finger in bio dad's direction. Until I hear they've named him as a suspect, I will continue to believe he's innocent since they did say he was cleared. However, I agree that he looks like a perverted ******* and is not someone I'd want to spend time with.

I know what I saw and I remembered his first and last name easy, bc A.) I wrote it down. Yup, Sure did! The situation was THAT creepy. And B.) His names are coincidentally names of members in my family.

Also, I'd like to add I knew it was Megan after I had seen her online flier with all the different pictures and hair do and it had her face at different angles. After I noticed what clothing she was wearing, the second thing that stood out about Megan was her nose. Not being mean-spirited or anything, but she has a very distinct profile.

I just know discernment has served me well enough to know something just isn't right about this situation and something may have been overlooked.

I have wondered that also. They used to have a fb page together, but that one was closed (I guess) and she has her own. Also, there are very few pictures of them, and unless she has updated it, none of Megan. I know this is a stressful situation for marriages, so they may have hit a rough patch. If so, I hope they can work it out. They may be together still, I really don't know. I asked a friend who goes to church with them, and she hasn't seen them there in a while. Time will tell.

Yeah, I was just wondering because it always seems to be the mother only in the interviews that I've seen....though I could be wrong as I didn't follow this case when it first happened, only later on.

I was thinking about the search that was done on a tip. I wonder if that tip was anonymous, or if they know who turned it in. It would be interesting to talk to that person and see where they got their information. The search was done in an incorrect area - IIRC they searched the Burnt Prairie area instead of the Boyleston area. That would be an easy mistake since both places are near Fairfield and are very tiny villages. I have confused the two on occasion since I rarely have a reason to reference either area. I've thought about that search off and on since it happened, and have many questions about it. I would think the FBI will revisit it.

I got to thinking about where bf lived in regard to where Megan's body was located. I looked on the map, and it is a very short drive (5-10 min) from his house using the back country roads. I would think if I can figure that out, then LE ought to have already noticed it. JMO, but that answers some questions in my mind.
