I LOVE Princess Mononoke, it's my fave studio ghibli and one of my faves of all time too.

Why do people think that adults can't like animation? Whether it anime or not? My husband was a comic book artist, believe me.. millions of adults love anime and there is nothing wrong with it at all.
 
Part of me thinks that during CB alleged confession during the tapping, of after he admitted the kidnapping if he didn’t say what he did with the body, and authorities are in the process of recovering miss zhang.

Remember, they have been extremely tight lipped during this whole process, their is obviously evidence that she is dead, other than she hasn’t been spotted with CB since her kidnapping and while he was under surveillance.
 
Such a shame. This case reminds me some of the Annie Le case at Yale where it turned out to be a university employee. This attack though is much more random. If only she would have gotten the bus...

If you are 10 minutes late to an apartment showing it's not like it's that big a deal. She would have either had to be coaxed into the car somehow - maybe a gun? - or she either knew him or he knew a mutual friend. Being in physics, he probably knew a lot of Chinese students. I read that U of Illinois has more Chinese exchange students then any other U.S. university - something like 5,600 students are from China, which is a significant number. He could have threw out some names - say I am so and so's friend - a Chinese exchange student that was popular on campus or a leader of the exchange students- and she being in a rush and unsure of the transport schedule got into the car because she felt he was ok.

They were in a different fields in the university so they would not have interacted much. Was he already at the university for some time doing a postdoc or something? If so he would not have been in any orientation session or anything unless he was leading the orientation session. One could probably figure out the name of whoever was leading orientation sessions for new exchange students. I get the sense that he was not new to the university. He was also too comfortable in his hunting grounds to be new. Probably most likely there was a mutual friend.
 
I suspect too that it is only in federal courts temporarily because the only charge is kidnapping. Once there is a murder charge, I assume it may go back to Illinois state court. Most times these cases are in state court, so unless the only charge is kidnapping (if they can't prove murder), it should go back to IL state court.

I imagine they could bring cadaver dogs to look at apartment or car. In Casey Anthony case, they used smell evidence to try to show dead body was in car. I don't know how long it takes for a dead body to leave such scents. if wife was at work or whatever, he probably would have had to move the body or at least moved it to trunk by 4PM or so. I imagine that LE may have dog evidence that there was a dead body, because otherwise I don't think they would be so forceful in saying she is not alive.

I wonder who he "confessed" to. Someone online? I imagine LE must have been very worried, especially if wife was in the house this whole time. It put them in a very tricky situation because if you have a solid lead that someone just killed a girl, it makes every else he interacts with in danger - roommates/wife, students in class, other students in university, neighbors, etc.

NINIH9 I have no problem with you pointing out BABYMETAL band is Japanese/Asian vs Chinese/Asian....(I knew I would make that mistake eventually. My family reminds me on a weekly basis of how "un-cool" I am. For years I thought the Utah Jazz was a group of musicians! Not joking, either.)

Just thinking, LE announced yesterday that Yingying is likely deceased due to what he said in the recorded audio and "other evidence" found during the investigation. I'm assuming this "other evidence" was found by a forensic team in the trunk of the car. He must have transported her somewhere after he killed her, and most likely put her in the trunk to do that.

Sorry if this has already been discussed. Still catching up.

That's possible. The tweets from last night said there were K9s on the scene as well that were taken into BC's apartment. The tweets didn't specify if they were human remains detection (i.e., cadaver) dogs or not.

Still catching up, you say?? As are many of us! But the FBI had this guy at "Hello, my name is Agent ____,
and I'd like to ask you some questions."
Here are some "snippets" that explains a lot of what transpired, how, who, what and when:
"While the interview was going on, agents spoke with another occupant of Christensen&#8217;s residence. That person, who wasn&#8217;t identified in the affidavit, consented to a search and seizure of items from the residence, at which point Christensen&#8217;s cellphone was collected."

"Beginning June 16, the FBI began continuously monitoring Christensen, which resulted in Thursday&#8217;s confession &#8212; he unknowingly was caught &#8220;explaining how he kidnapped&#8221; Zhang, according to the affidavit."

Baby Metal is a very popular band. Liking them a lot doesn't mean someone has an Asian fetish. They are Japanese, not Chinese There is a difference fwiw.

He may or may not have targeted this poor woman in particular because she was Asian. And that he was specifically cruising for an Asian victim. We don't know. But I would caution against deciding he did just because he had an interest in Japanese anime and a band.

But that could be like saying he wasn't interested in abducting a female just because he had an interest in that fetish site. I'm just saying...

Fact is he did have an interest in abduction. And so he may have had an interest in Asian women as well.

We are just sleuthing possibilities.

We all know who the bad guy is here, but the university should be ashamed how they handled the case. A woman reported a man, possibly or probably the suspect in this case, cruising around trying to lure girls into his car all day. Did they step up patrols? Did they send out a campus-wide alert? We DID get alerts for would-be abductors at one of my universities. Doesn't seem to be the case here. They also used unhelpful language in their investigation, as opposed to what the FBI said. All to minimize negative PR.

And now they didn't even talk to the family about the memorial service? Are you kidding me? Could anything scream "OK everyone time to move along and get back to normal business" more than this massive PR trainwreck? As someone who spent nearly a decade in universities they really infuriate me in how they conduct business...business (sometimes not education) being the operative word.

Sorry I dont mean to give her family any false hope but if they know or he confessed he killed her why not disclose where her body is ? Still so many questions. Someone may have already answered this. If so sorry for the repeat. Natural Resources, something to do with crop production and photosynthesis. I remembered it because my daughter is a Natural Resource major conservation biology.
