Someone asked whether he brought her into the apartment, this article says he did.
Authorities began surveilling Christensen on June 16. On June 29, police heard him say on an audio recording that he kidnapped Zhang, brought her back to his apartment and held her in his apartment against her will.

They could have also found evidence of her being killed in the apartment, I guess. Blood? Or on his phone/computer. Photos?

Is it possible that more than one person is involved with Yingying's disappearance?

I'd really hate to speculate on this factor, but the possible Fetlife profile that others found states he started dating someone around the time he created the profile and joined the Abduction 101 group. Other related users have likewise contacts with him. But this profile in question only has 4 other listed friends, and there's no concrete proof the fetlife profile is a match other than the dates lining up with BC's charging affidavits.

Many of the circumstances in this case seem a little too clean cut for a possible amateur or first-time criminal. BC's car was proven to have been cleaned up, <modsnip> his roommate seemed to cooperate with the investigation search, so maybe he and any possible associates thought they covered their tracks up enough to get away with it. I'm not saying it's likely, but it's probable that others may have been involved. With the facts we have, I wouldn't rule it out at this point.

Bear in mind, this is all speculation and I'd hate to inappropriately associate any innocent individual with this case. I do hope official sources release more information about what happened to Ms. Zhang after she was picked up by BC, so the unwarranted speculation can end already for all us sleuths.

My 14 and 21yld sons are very much into anime. Youngest even sucked me into watching Death Note and every episode of Naruto.
Thank you, I've been reading in horror at some of the posts. I have a 20 year old son that is still buying Manga, Berserk, Dragon Ball Z and Pokemon memorabilia. And the list goes on; I think it was a natural progression from Pokemon. I have VERY fond memories of these things b/c he was tiny and I had to read the pokemon character names to him lol Manga & all the rest came later. He spent $120 on a figurine that came from China. It sits on a shelf; he doesn't play with it lol its wierd to me but I think it's awesome he has such fond memories. He talked me into watching Mushi-Shi on Netflix and after getting past the cartoon feel I realised for the most part it was adult themed. My own Dad thinks it's bizarre for a 20 year old to watch.
He is a pre-engineering student abt to transfer to Uni., makes the Dean's List every semester, and the retail store he works for has been begging him to take the store management position, he hasn't been there a year. Soooo, no he isn't a goofus lazy person.

This is my way of saying: this isn't what makes a kidnapping, raping, murderous lunatic. If it is we are in big trouble bc my 3 nephews, son and his friends watch them. It may show an obsession with a particular ethnic group I suppose.

So he left a Ph.D. program in May after four years with a consolation master's degree...sounds like life wasn't going very well for him. Having been an academic, I can say that there is usually something up with a student who leaves after that long. The ones who've decided that it's just not for them collect their master's degree on the way out the door after two years. Sometimes a student just simply isn't making any progress, and that prompts "the talk" with the person's advisor. But in my experience, often the "something" is some kind of weird or unacceptable behavior that has been going on for a long time that finally makes the faculty want them gone enough to actually take action.

I’m probably grasping at straws here, but since some of you have been looking over the fetish site this guy visited (I don’t want to go there) can anyone say if many of the fantasies involved imprisoning young women (keeping them alive) as sex slaves or for other purposes? Any chance YZ could be locked in some sort of structure with some access to food & water but no means of escape? Not clear to me what the specific police evidence is of YZ’s demise (other than probability)?
Like others, I’m also baffled at how the perp got her in and out of his apt. without drawing attention or being seen? Do the police have physical evidence that she was in his apt. or only his word that he took her there?

Him being able to get Ms. Zhang into his apartment is what confounds me the most about this. Did he do it by himself? Was he armed, or implied physical threat? Is there any proof he took her there? Too many unanswered questions to be sure.

If Ms. Zhang is still alive, I'm not sure why the FBI announced that they presume her to be dead. If she is, I would assume someone else has to be involved, but that seems unlikely considering what we know at this point.

Thank you for that photo! Do you have a link for it?

Screen shot 2017-07-01 at 8.29.25 AM.png

I took a screen shot from this video towards the end of it. I wish a sleuther with photo enhancement skills would take a crack at it. I wonder if we could see Yingying sitting up.

I wish you would've asked me that 1 day ago. I erased 25 pics that I captured from the video. I did get 1 of her sitting up. BUT, it's very blurry and enhancement can't fill in the blanks much. It's her silhouette and I blv that bc she just got in the car, NOT bc I can see her face very well. It's just alot of white maybe an outline of her hat and face. So a silouette.

IT finally scrubbed his pic from the front page of the UI Physics Dept. website.

VEN, Not all of them....scroll all the way down to the end of this, link ("I'm a special scientist promo" imo) There are 4 people in the photo. He is standing next to the woman in the red sweater.

ps. edited to add...You can see it until someone else discovers it and decides to scrub that photo, too. PR specialists at their finest, huh?
Even more ironic is the tagline under the photo #WomenCrushWednesdays.... I can not make this stuff up!
(Don't know how take a screen shot and save to a jpeg or something like that)

My theory is that something happened when YZ was in the passenger seat and that's why the forensic expert reported that the seat was cleaned so heavily compared to the rest of the car. So I believe she was incapacitated and he carried her to his apt.

It doesn't explain how no one saw this though. Maybe witnesses will come forward or already have to LE.

Do locals know what type of apartment complex it was (each unit rented by separate landlords or is there management for the building?) Are there cameras? Would the residents mostly be students, families, a mix?

These are questions I'm asking myself. All

Now that the news have started to sink in I feel very sad for Yingying. She came with hopes and dreams, she was innocent and sweet, she worked hard, she did not deserve this. She was a beautiful flower and this guy just trampled over her! (I can't find the emoticon for crying.) How much worse must her parents and friends feel today? I can't even imagine.

When did LE start watching him? Was it the 12th? He must have gotten rid of her before that. Can they find surveillance footage of him in the days between the 9th and the 11th to see where he went and and for how long? Maybe they can figure out an area where her body might be.

I'm sure they are already working on this, as well as trying to pressure him or persuading him in some way to give it up. But if he would tell them where it is that would be like confessing to murder, right? Possibly his lawyer is advising him not to say anything now.

Ugh, maybe he told her he had an apartment for rent and that he wanted to take her there first so she could see it, and then he could drop her at the other place.

They'll take apart the paneling, interior door handle etc. Hopefully, there will be some he couldn't access easily when scrubbing the door. Like the panel, window, lock, or handle crevices.

His failure to get his PHD, could that be the impetus for his descent into criminality?

Could LE have bugged the perps apartment or would it have to be a wire on someone conversing with him? My guess is he admitted to the kidnapping but not to the murder.

He is clearly an intelligent man. He has the credentials to back that. He made some really stupid mistakes when committing this crime. My fear is, he did a better job covering his tracks, after the fact, than he did the day he kidnapped YZ. I hope that bc the FBI tracked him so quickly he didn't have time to cover the foresics related to YZ.

He really is a dumb criminal. If this wasn't his 1st kidnapping was he unraveling? <modsnip> His prior attempts were unsuccessful and he knew time was running out <modsnip>. Do you all believe this is his first abduction? I am worried after hearing about the kidnap group in Fetlife. <modsnip> What if he was part of a group? Or had been in the past? I know that's statistically unlikely.
