I've felt that way all along. Either Abby was in one of the pictures(jacket at left) or she was behind him in the one photo(left knee forward pic). They tried to clean the frames up. He wasn't really that far behind them. Why else would they not give us the original picture? It was brought out by WebSight on here that the one photo she worked on was noticeably wonky in the face( like maybe two photos had been pieced together.

I think BG was directly behind them when the published pics from the video stills Libby took were captured. The Instagram picture of Abby walking alone show a long expanse of bridge behind her and no one is in the background.

Can we post side by sides of those pics, and a possible time frame when the Instagram pic of Abby was taken and when the video stills were taken?

Of course, I don’t have the skills to do that, but maybe someone else here does.

I think if you know someone well enough, even that snippet of ‘down the hill’ would register as a person known to you. No one has come forward, so I guess either he is being protected for whatever reason, or someone who knows his voice has not paid any attention to the media on the case.

That might suggest he isn’t a local. Not sure.
 
Last thought for tonight. Those were huge clues - the snaps of BG, his clothes, his body shape, and the voice. If he has family members and friends across the nation who may have missed this story, maybe sharing that information again on the channels most people still have, even those with only antenna TV stations (ABC, NBC, FOX and CBS- don’t think PBS would cover it ;)) , might be helpful on a nightly news segment. It would not be helpful to pair that with a possible person of interest since those watching might think the person they know isn’t involved.

I think he resembles the sketch, however if I was the witness and got a good look at BG I would not approve the sketch as what he looked like. If it's him the witness did not get a good look at his face IMO. I can't get away from Sloth from the Goonies so that may be swaying me.

I know this is a stretch but what if...

What if he was talking to one of the girls (Libby or Abby) online, just as he was prior to his arrest.
What if he set up a meeting along the trail to meet one of them. After all it's only a few hour drive from where he was arrested/lived.
And what if the girl he was meeting brought her friend along. (as most kids that age do)
They noticed he stood out for some reason. Maybe it was he looked creepy, like some of his SM pics.
They may have hung around waiting for 'the boy they meant to meet with' but this guy was lurking longer than he should have.
Maybe they realized that things were not right and that's when they started recording, just in case.

Several have said it must have been a local because he knew the trail and about going "down the hill". But what if it was as mentioned above and he arrived early with anticipation and walked the trail looking for "the spot" to get his perve on?

Just a far reaching what if.

That thought has always bothered me too. It seems too much of a "coincidence" or chance meeting on the bridge. Another reason she may have recorded it. moo

eta I have always felt that they were drawn there by himself, who posed to be a younger boy online. just mho
 
Ugh! I can’t believe this case remains unsolved! I want it to be solved so badly but I’m afraid that too much is being made of this suspect. For some reason I’m skeptical mainly because it would seem a de-escalation to kill 2 years ago then go back to less serious stuff. But either way, SO glad he got caught, he’s a bad bad disgusting creepy pervert!

That's kind of my thinking as well. He's an online predator who engages young girls to eventually meet up with them. That's a far cry from murdering 2 girls. But, we don't know what else he has been up to. Maybe he has murdered others he preyed upon.

You make an excellent point about “de-escalation.” It generally doesn’t work like that.

I wouldn’t expect a crime like that, to be followed by the type of crime that this guy is accused of.

I definitely share your skepticism.

The silver lining is that it is drawing people’s attention to this case, perhaps people who are unfamiliar with the details surrounding it.

If they have the killer’s DNA, then the clock is ticking. It’s simply a matter of time.

They’ll get him.

If they have DNA, and depending on the kind of testing that was done, they may know for a near certainty that he does not have blue eyes.
