BG looks like he's wearing what we call the "Ed Gein" hat and its pretty common around here. I'm about 50 miles north of Delphi.

His pant legs, at least partially would have been soaking wet as well as his boots. I would hope that people who were walking the trails that day are reaching back into their memories to see if they can remember seeing a guy with wet pant legs. I just can't imagine he was toting around a full change of clothes to include a set of dry boots.

I'm not in the camp of thinking this was planed out in regard to Libby and Abby but rather he wanted to do what he did and it was just the girls being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

It's overwhelming, isn't it? I don't even know what to think. So many thoughts swirling around.

Does it seem like the person that provided the first sketch, well, the July 2017 sketch of bearded BG, did they... lie? Misdirect? Is it just a faulty sketch altogether with no misdirection?

OK, here's the thing — I think the deliberate way in which this new sketch was introduced and focused on with a laser indicates that LE has come across something definite that allows them to bring it to the forefront.

Something they clearly missed or did not have access to for two years, which explains why everyone would have been so upset at this revelation.

They just had a presser on the anniversary in February where they didn't seem to have much to offer in the way of progress.

Something happened to make them bring this out.

The DSS office was right by Andersons, a grain terminal/elevator by C.R. 300. I drove by it the Summer of '17. The building was razed last year.

It definitely shifts the focus back on people in Delphi and area, the reality that any one of them might personally know the killer. I can understand why some would prefer to imagine it was a stranger passing through, a deviant drifter such as was characterized by the likes of DN.

Makes me feel we will have a third sketch later on. And to me, sketch #1 looks more like the bridge guy. Clearly, we don’t know who to look for.

IMO, this is not going well.....they admit that it is not the same person, that means they have been looking for the wrong guy and something recently has helped them determine that...that is why they are emotional and upset......imagine being the family and finding out that they are now being asked to look for someone that looks entirely different two years later.....embarrasing if you ask me....this is not out of confidence that they know who it is and at all close to a arrest.....just MOO

Now I understand why Superintendent Douglas Carter said "We are now just beginning..." I sensed so much anger in his words and now I know why.

The sketch drawn by the police artist in February 2017 (right after the murders) was from details by a witness.

This sketch was never shown to the public or the families for two years.

I believe that now, finally, the investigation will move towards an arrest, hopefully soon.

The most important thing for them all to do is to not get mired in anger or blame, just find this monster!

I still believe, after watching the press conference, that it will be a short time until there is an arrest.

Wow, IMO this was a major wrong step by LE, to say the least! Imagine the poor families of the victims trying to deal with all this on top of their grief!

“I gotta say to the Delphi community how grateful I am. You inspire people and you don’t even understand, you don’t even understand why.

Uh, information is being released today, is the result of literally 1,000’s and 1,000’s of hours of extraordinary investigative efforts. By Delphi, Carroll County, the FBI, the Indiana State Police, and countless other agencies.

This community surrounded us some 26 months ago, and you did everything you could to support us but most importantly you surrounded the family, of these two little girls.
Gosh, I’ll never forget it(pause). After you hear what we are going to release today I’m going to ask for your continued support, your continued understanding, your empathy, and compassion. As we move forward to find out who did this and we will.

We’re seeking the public’s help to identify the driver of a vehicle that was parked at the old CPS/DFS Welfare building. In the city of Delphi, that was abandoned on the east side Co Rd 300 N, next to the Hoosier Heartland Highway. Between the hours of noon to five. On February 14th, 2017(this date was change by LE to the 13th right after the statement concluded.). If you were parked there or know who was park there please contact the officers at the command post at the Delphi city building.

We are releasing additional portions of the audio recording, from that day. Please keep in mind the person talking is One person(holding up his index finger while saying one) and Is the person on the bridge with the girls. This is Not two different, two different people speaking. Please listen to it Very very carefully(still holding up index finger).

(Sigh)We’re also releasing video recovered from Libby’s phone. This video has never before been previously released. The video shows the suspect walking on the bridge. When you see the video, watch the su, watch the persons mannerisms as they walk. Watch the mannerisms, as he walks. Do you recognize the mannerisms, as being someone that you might know. Remember, he is walking on a former railroad bridge. Because of the deteriorated condition of the bridge, the suspect is not walking naturally due to the spacing between the ties.

During the course of this investigation we have concluded the first sketch released will become secondary(staring to his right for 1.8ish seconds) as of today. The result of the new information and intelligence over time, leads us to believe the sketch which you will see shortly Is the person responsible for the Murders of these two little girls.
We also believe this person is from Delphi. Currently or has previously lived here, visits Delphi on a regular basis. Or works here. We believe this person is currently between the age range of 18-40 but might appear younger than his true age.

(Long pause)Directly to the killer. Who may be in this room(1sec pause). We believe you are hiding in plain sight(pause). For more than Two years you Never thought we would shift gears to a different investigative strategy, but we have. We likely have interviewed you. Or someone close to you. We know that this is about Power to you. And You want to know what We Know. One day you will(pause). A question to you, What will those closest to you think Of, When They Find Out YOU BRUTALLY MURDERED TWO Little girls. Two children. Only a COWARD would do such a Thing. Or at the Very least, They Know, because of how different you are since the murders (lip curl, looks to his left. He’s starting to sweat more and wipe his face.). We Try So hard to understand how a person could do something like this(close to a glare looking to his right.) to tw, to two children. To the murderer, I believe you have just a little bit of a conscience left(looking both ways while pinching finger together, to indicate a little bit, glaring, long pause.) And I can ASSURE You That How You Left Them In That Woods Is NOT What they’re experiencing today(touches nose, visibly upset, glaring right then left with pause, curls upper lip, licks lip, looking center, looking down with same look as before like he doesn’t want to say what he has written? To the family (sigh, looking to his left), I hope that you All will give them some time(gestures to the room), because we are going to be asking that there is no media inquiry, no media response for the next two weeks. And I Hope you’ll understand why(zoom in on Carrie). The Family found out about this, about this information this morning(zoom in on family to his left.). (Biting lip) I just want the family to know that when I take my last breath on this earth I’ll be thinking of them(looking down but not reading, mournful.) There’s going to be a tremendous amount of questions, I Know that, I know that, uh, never in my career have I stood in front of something like this(gestures to crowd.) “I have just unveiled the person that we believe responsible for the murder of these two little girls. I’d like media to take a look at that now(whispers It’s not up, Kim.) A friend of mine and I concur that the new audio and video may have been extra tips to refresh the public's memory and get them thinking back to that time period again with a fresh start and something new to focus on, in addition to the sketch.

It isn't like these folks ran out of material to work with and fumbled around for this old sketch. I feel like if they had known that they should be considering it in February, they would have announced it for the anniversary.

Something has happened in very recent weeks that has led to a "90 degree shift" in the investigation. I definitely don't think this is desperation, I think they are moving based on new information.

Wow.

I don't think we know, but my guess is this was LE error. They discounted the first sketch (which is now the second sketch) for some reason and they shouldn't have. They worked with a second witness on the second sketch and for some reason put more faith into that sketch.

Just think of all the man hours they spent on interviews from tips and follow ups regarding older guys that looked like the first sketch .....that alone would naturally feel like a waste .......would leave me steaming mad....carter said you didnt think we would change directions and strategically because the Killer knows they have been looking for him from that first sketch released.....

I still believe, after watching the press conference, that it will be a short time until there is an arrest.

But...back then they had the local authorities, the State troopers and the FBI all involved. For nothing? I bet the killer laughed his rear end off.

So I have to wonder...and I am not casting blame...whose bright idea was it to discard the troopers sketch and go with a different sketch? Maybe THAT is why Carter is so angry. I would be also. Looks bad on everyone, while the families suffer. Now his PC makes so much sense. I feel bad for him.

Not only that, but they specifically stated that the killer is amongst the community or even in the room. Pressers are carefully planned in advance and scaring the crap out of the population by telling them that a killer is loose around them must have been a factor yet they decided to press on. I have no doubt that right now in Delphi kids have strict rules not to walk without an adult escort, doors are being locked, and guns are being purchased.

The pivot here is the change of POI. They must have something significant they are trying to button up to be willing to eat crow with the public. MOO

I saw it mentioned elsewhere that the "Guys" may have been released with a specific purpose, as well. Maybe he's someone who says it all the time. Maybe he said it many times during the audio we haven't heard, so they specifically wanted that released to make someone think, "Hey, so and so is constantly saying that...."
