Yes, that could be a beard. I don't know. I have always kind of thought the perp looks like he has some facial hair, but others disagree, which is fine. I do think the perp is not anywhere near his late 70s. He doesn't look that old at all.

Just want to say - if the bodies of two young girls were found on my property and the killer hadn't been caught, that would be enough for ME to have a few drinks. Not saying that's what happened...just saying.

Especially if I"d had to report someone breaking into my barn at least three times in the past few years. I don't think I could bring myself to stay on that property anymore after several break ins as it is, but then THIS? I feel so bad for him that it's been in the family over 50 years because if it was me I'd want to sell it and move.

Agree. They said themselves many people have been arrested for other things in the process of all of the investigating.

I'm sure they had all this info on this guy when the girls were found.

This is a long shot but there are a lot of really observant people here with amazing memories and resources, so maybe someone can help me with this...

does ANYONE remember within the past 10 days or so reading an article which included a quote from LE that said something about re-checking alibis? It was super casual, and might have been in the context of listing how they rule people out and eliminate suspects - might have included phrasing similar to rather than ruling them in, they rule them out.

The only video I've ever watched was the live statement by Libby's grandfather - could LE have said this during that, does anyone recall? Because if it wasn't in that video, then it was definitely in a print article instead, I know that much.

I agree. Or feel the need to be armed even if I weren't legally allowed to be as a felon. I suspect it was one of those 2 things.

The green circle contains a small barn, a feed bin, likely a chicken coop, and a grain auger.
Located just below (south) is a grain bin. There aren't any silos visible on the property that I see.

I ask about the possibility of a beard because I have had a suspect in mind that I have already called in twice. I have been studying that suspect photo so much my eyes are crossed. The white under his neck looks like it could be gray in a beard. I think the suspect is around late 40's. Many men gray early especially in facial hair. I also think he sports a very bushy mustache.

The property across the street (including the green circles) have a different owner -- <modsnip>. They own quite a bit of farmland in that area.

I'm sorry I'm just now catching up. Is this a new search going on on RL's property?

IMO it could be as simple as what someone else suggested pages back - maybe LE was searching there and happened to see him driving or drinking and he's not supposed to be doing those things as a condition of probation so they had to follow through and arrest him for it.

Or ...

I am just recalling an UNRELATED CASE where LE wanted unrestricted access to a property to search for a missing woman but the husband was the property owner and he was always super accommodating and let them search but he also always hovered over them while they did it.. and at one point this guy was put in jail and then LE took that opportunity to do a more thorough search. Didn't find anything or the missing woman though.

I'm concerned that these murders are already dropping out of the news cycle. There's not even one new article or tweet this morning about the girls. Nothing about the reward amount or fundraisers or anything. I hate it when crimes start to drop out of the news cycle and they aren't solved.

I read an article this morning that was headline news from ABC News entitled "Unsolved double murder haunts Indiana town, police vow we cannot fail." I also think it's the same one they posted yesterday. But at least they're keeping it alive!

No, previous searches nearby are being analyzed in photo form as far as I understand it.

Good for you for calling it in and being persistent. Even the smallest detail could break this case. I see you're in Iowa - do you have connections to Indiana?

I too believe he has something in the jacket, likely the right pocket. It might be a gun, but if so, I don't believe he actually used it for anything other than intimidation. Someone would've heard a gunshot in that area at that time of day. And on that thought - I believe the murders were committed fairly close to where the bodies were found, because if he'd taken them to another location, it would risky for the perp(s) to return to the area where he took the girls - especially when people could have been out looking for them.

One of our sleuthers was able to trace the outline of a gun exactly the spot you are examining. I wish I could remember the approx thread because there was a lot of discussion about what type of gun, was that the only weapon etc. Does anyone have that image they could share? Thanks!

One thing I've never understood is the small section that was cordoned off on RL's property during evidence finding.

I felt that much more area should have been secured.

RL traipsing all over the place with reporters could have tainted any other evidence on the property. At one time RL and a reporter stood feet from the yellow tape.

Last night reading thru some of the threads, I felt saddened that an innocent man is being sleuthed. I come back here this morning and it's continuing. :facepalm:

It's been somthing along those lines everyday for the couple weeks, it takes about 100 post to get through the false/ misconstrude/misunderstood statement or word only to see the same injected again. Why it is easy for me to say i could turn my back and not be a witness for fear of be accused. Jmo
