I am wondering if, perhaps, all of these developments with RL the last 2 weeks could possibly be a "smoke screen" by LE? If the attention is on RL (assuming he is innocent), I bet BG feels pretty secure right about now. Maybe he will slip up, make a mistake, say something incriminating to bring about that "one tip". Just a theory, MOO JMO.....

RL could very likely have his life destroyed, if he is not a real suspect. The town will crucify him, especially if they don't catch the guy. I don't think the police would put him in that danger unless they strongly thought he was connected to this.

I don't see anything unusual in RL's clothing; I live in a rural area in the deep south, and the red shirt outfit would be considered dressy by many people here, particularly men. It doesn't seem (to me) to be an attempt to hide his identity. There are things I wear if I know I'm going to only be at home, and I would hate for someone to see those and assume that that's my style of dress every day, or for someone to be suspicious if they saw me in something different (what I wear to work, for example).

That said, I don't see any resemblance between RL and BG, and I don't hear similarity in their voices. JMO of course.

I agree. I think he "spiffed" up a bit to be on Inside Edition. Local news isn't as big of a deal if you aren't in a big market but something national you would want to dress up a bit. I don't think RL is BG either in stature or voice. I think someone took advantage of him. JMO.

I can see from the posts in this thread that many posters are feeling sympathy for RL. I've followed many crimes, way before I ever found Websleuths and as you can see by the number of my posts that I've been around the block a few times in following murders on this thread. I'm just saying that absolutely nothing surprises me anymore in who is capable of committing atrocious crimes. I guess you can call me cynical times ten. No, I don't think RL is BG but there is the definitely the possibility that he knows more than he claimed and nothing improves memory quicker than sitting in jail for a few days. JMO.

I understand the tower issue, I just didn't think that tracker apps were accessing that info. It used to be available only through warrant by LE. The reason I asked is the info was known so early on.

And if her phone was traveling, then LE didn't get her video off her actual phone. Or so it would seem.
I can see my husbands where abouts with the family tracker app. It may be to much info, but at one point, he was in another persons car and it would show them moving, and it even gives me a reciept of where the phone is. You can also do this with gmail, if you log into your own account you can find thr location of your phone with greater accuracy. Ive had to use this on multiple occasions to find my husband who seems to think its amusing to get lost with his friends, as well as my teenage sister ::rolls eyes::

Haven't read all posts but does anyone have a link to the search of the property across from RL's property last weekend March 10th.? Unable to find an article regarding this now. All I could locate was a photo on google images and a blurb on toplocalnow.com. Thinking that possibly what was found there may have led to this search.JMO

Also of note for the first time ever signing in here I received an alert just below my sign in that this is an unsecure connection logins here could be compromised same with the password box. Anyone else?

BG is throaty.
Sounds like a smoker to me.
Definitely similar to Daryl off WD also. Probably why it didn't sound overly threatening to me. Did sound like a calm yet assertive command though.

Maybe he was one of those whose story did not pan out after further investigation.

That's what I thought too. In his pronunciation, he turned "hill" up in a way that seemed unnatural or forced.

____________
The above is just my opinion.

Maybe he was puzzled by what they were asking him to say so it ended in a sort of question.

Does LE ever state they are conducting a search warrant to "rule someone out" of an investigation? I was thinking that they could be thoroughly vetting RL's property to protect him against public opinion if they're unable to find the suspect. However, that doesn't really make sense.

In order to have a warrant, they'd need to produce probable cause that some piece of evidence would exist in the property linking it to the crime. In other words, the judge would not grant a warrant simply to "rule out" any connection, if that makes sense. Don't they essentially have to be looking for something specific?

Sounds like websleuths needs to update their certificate?

It did seem a little odd, but his unspoken context seemed to be that he expected to find it bloody and torn up, but it didn't show any signs of the violence. So I can see using pristine to describe it. But the whole comment seemed odd.

The tone of many of his comments always seemed a little off to me, though not in a way that made me think he was the killer. He sounds shocked, betrayed, maybe even a little angry. Whatever is going through his head, he's thinking some things that he's not saying.

I know I wouldn't enjoy being thrust into the middle of such a horrific situation, would hate having TV cameras in my face, and would really, really hate the fact that two murdered young girls had been found on my property. I'm thinking that as the introvert that I am if put in that situation, I may not come across all that well. :/

Any new updates since 2 hours ago? I hate to be that person, but I am. I literally cannot keep up and I had been doing a good job.

It's interesting that anything having to do with RL in the last two weeks has happened on a Friday. Is that so not much news is out over the weekend?

This is the first thing that stuck out to me. What days were the other warrants served on? It almost seems as if LE might opt to do that on purpose so it puts the pressure on RL, knowing rumors and speculation will fly all weekend, maybe encourage him to talk about what he knows (if he knows anything), or maybe it's just coincidental. I wonder if he's done talking because his attorney told him not to, or if he's a bit perturbed that he's sitting in the pokey for a while?

Were the fish for him? He doesn't strike me as a salt water aquarium guy. Maybe they were a gift, so he took them to a friend/family/church member? If so, then that person would know he was going to be gone...and possibly others in their home or social circle would have known the property would be vacant. IMO.

I'd love to know if he went fish shopping with someone else who might need an alibi. Or maybe he fibbed about fish shopping with a friend when said friend wasn't actually there. I'm not really buying the fishing story, but maybe he has young children in the family that like them.

Hope you know the Edinburgh accent from Glaswegian by now then haha to be fair I could spot a Texan accent a mile away from a Canadian, but that's about it! Throw New York and Boston into the mix and that's my lot! But I'm British do you Americans know what state somebody is from just by talking to a person like we do in the uk?

I can pick out regions with confidence, but I don't think I could pinpoint a state with the same confidence. It would certainly take more than 3 words to even hazard a guess though. I do think BG is from the Midwest, because he says words the same as I do. Does anyone else think RL sounds a bit nasally?

Listen to the way BG and RL say the word DOWN

They do sound the same unless it is the Indiana accent I am picking up on???

I think that's the Indiana accent. I think I say it the same way, or at least it doesn't strike me as different than anyone locally would say it.

"...police have searched about a dozen other homes and properties" - Rich Van Wyk

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=_uNNhh76_zc

Yet only 3 (right?) have made it to the media. Would they include searches of Libby and Abby's homes and/or relative's homes in that figure?

What bothers me is that they were not found that evening. It really really bugs me. JMO

The suspect still being free is my #1 irk of this case. Them not being found that night is #2. I don't think anyone could convince me they searched for hours and never made it 1/2 mile from their last confirmed location down a creek. It just seems like such an easy landmark to follow. Everything around the bridge is pretty much private property and they had permission to search RL's property at 6:30 which to me implies they planned on looking there that night. So were the girls overlooked, did they not end up searching, or were they not there at the time they were searching?

The other night, I was reading all of the past court documents related to RLs recent arrests and legal issues. They all seemed to be fairly recent and almost back to back. My question while I was reading was--- what has happened that he is all of a sudden having so many issues? Or are there more that I am just not seeing? Like in another place or state.

Does anyone have any information on whether they all seem to be fairly recent (considering he is 77!) or if there are other things elsewhere?

Thanks, y'all! My gut can't wrap itself around him being involved, but I definitely couldn't get past that thought in my mind that "something" seems to have happened in the past few years to cause so many issues.

I don't know if anyone has answered this (and I don't think it breaks any rules), but there was a divorce somewhere between 2009 and 2012 and some financial problems around the same time. It seems the divorce filing occurred in 2009, but the disposition wasn't until 2012. All of his drinking charges that I can find were after the filing.

Off topic a bit, but can anyone tell me what this might pertain to? Briggs in the attorney in said divorce. I'm curious about the photographic evidence mentioned and if that would be considered normal. My mind took it to a dark place and I'm hoping I'm wrong. From Doxpop- "Caroline B. Briggs files Motion for Release of Exhibits. Court enters Order releasing photographic exhibits to Caroline Briggs for use in a trial in Tippecanoe Superior Court 1, per form. KATHY R. Do we know if the white truck that was taken away is RL's? Looks fairly new and in good condition for a man who didn't have his license JMO

I don't know if it is his or not. I thought maybe some of his court stuff might mention it, like if it was impounded, but I couldn't find a mention of any vehicle. It's a 1997-2003 4x4 extended Cab Ford F250 or F350.

Two things I cannot recall .... do we know where RL said he was when he was not home Feb 14th? I know the 13th was the tropical fish run in Lafayette (did he drive?)

Also did RL attend the visitation/memorial for the girls?

Thanks in advance.

Have been trying to catch up on this latest news, but I'm confused about something. LE stated early on the BG had brown hair, that he was not wearing a hoodie in that photo. How would RL manage to make his white hair look brown in that photo? Are you proposing that he was wearing a wig?

JMO, but I'm not seeing a resemblance.

LE has never said what color hair BG has. They have said he is wearing a hoodie.

Just in regard to people stating that a 77 year old man who may have health issues would not be a sexual offender, I strongly disagree.

Alot of my work has been with child victims of sexual abuse and the perpetrators have often been their grandfathers....men in their 70's and sometimes 80's.

Erectile dysfunction means nothing....sex offenders can receive sexual gratification in a variety of ways. They don't necessarily need to be able to 'perform' in a conventional way. The buzz is primarily psychological.

And now there is always Viagra.....

I'm not saying he did it, I'm just saying you can't rule him out because of his age. jmo

Do you have a link to him having lived in Florida? I would swear he said he has lived there (in Delphi) over 50 years.

He did say he had lived there for 53 years, and had 40 acres that his son who he had on weekends liked to explore. If he is in his 70's, been there over 50 years, he would have been what in his 20's when he lived somewhere else? Im interested in where he moved from. Was he married?

He said he was in Lafayette on the 13th and in Delphi on the 14th.

The only thing I have read about what he said in regard to where he went on the 14th was that he went to Delphi. This was a MSM article that I read today, but I have read so many that I can't remember now where I saw it! But, he said he went into Delphi.
