IMO I think LE knows exactly who they are looking at, and they are local. I believe that the perp(s)"used" RL without his knowledge, and he could be being held for his own protection. I also believe that the continued request for information is so when they have their day in court, no one can claim a "rush to judgement" by the prosecution. Tying up loose ends, connecting all the dots, and getting all those ducks in a row!

Could it ever be that LE have their eyes on a certain person because of tips/clues but can't believe it themselves that indeed HE would be the murderous monster??? They may know him in real life, maybe he is the opposite of a lowlife and they are afraid of triggering a huge scandal (IF the evidence turns out to be not sufficient).

This really gave me pause to reflect. Seems so obvious, yet I never thought of it quite that way...how it happened so that she (they) couldn't have dialed 911...or screamed...or ran. What a risk indeed. Why Why Why??!!
I think he had a fake badge and they figured he was LE so no need to call. Then it became too late. Jmo

I think it happened so fast. I think LE was quoted as saying that the crime happened quickly after the audio.

I personally think they tried to flee and that's how they arrived at the other side. I don't think they were "marched".

Family members from both sides spoke with the media within the past week week, specifically asking for tips. I'm 99.9% positive LE is directly knowledgable of their media appearances as the emotional plea from family is far more effective.
The family is not privy to the LE's investigation. The family publicly asking for tips is entirely different than LE asking them. I don't think LE looks at the family members to be spoke persons in the case.

This case received attention both nationally and internationally with previous news conferences by LE. They would get the same attention if they held another. I think it is telling that they don't.

i don't believe LE has ever said the speed of events

Now what if they do have DNA back yet it's unusable for example contaminated?

What could it be contaminated from?

Is it possible that he approached and quickly killed one leaving the other scared, completely quiet and compliant? Keeping 2 in line at the same time could be risky. If both had the ability to run and each ran in a different directions he can only chase one down at a time.

or could the photo have sent them in the wrong direction..looking at the wrong age bracket. I hope all young males in the high school and older have been asked for alibis and had them verified. I know it's a leap but I've seen kids as big as men.

I think it's important when looked at with other important aspects to the case, namely where the crime occurred (obscure, unsafe railroad bridge way off the beaten path), time of year in relation to said location (February in Indiana is not generally a nice time for a nature walk), and his apparent preparedness (what we can glean from his jacket). I believe at least one of the girls was targeted, so it all plays into my theory. If you don't think that's the case, then you probably won't find any of what I said compelling.

ETA: School was out but it was a normal workday for most.
It was a state bank holiday in Illinois just 50 miles west.

Or is there more than 1 perp? One came from one end (seen in photo) and one behind Libby (voice on audio) just as she took the video????????

I never said combing through tips was purely a waste of time. My comment was directed to those who believe LE has identified a suspect and are "building a case".

Everything reported by the media indicates LE are still looking from the general public for strong leads. It'd be helpful if those who feel differently might share their source of knowledge.
I don't think I said you did say that did I?? Just giving my own opinion. No offence intended.

You all remember the Scott Peterson case, right? Well, when that story broke I was a frequent member and contributor to an AOL true crime group. (Ha ha, that was a really long time ago...) Someone got on there one night and "theorized" about what might have happened to Lacy. They talked about the hypothetical argument about his mistress that might have happened, talked about how and where he struck Lacy, how she died, how he cleaned up her blood and wrapped her up. How he put her in his trunk and drove out to the water. I mean, this guys theory was totally detailed.

And, as it turns out, totally accurate. He posted all of those things the night she was reported missing-long before we knew anything about Amber Frey, where Scott had been fishing, etc.The guy never posted again and his profile went inactive.

It was THAT case that got me interested in true crime communities and people's theories in general. Although none of us did anything to help solve that crime, we really enjoyed each other's company and learned a lot about police procedural.

There is still a part of me that thinks that might have been Scott posting. It makes me wonder how often BG revisits HIS crime-either by going back to the trail or by hanging out with "us." Of course, maybe he doesn't at all. But you never know!

Wow, never heard this story! Kinda creepy.
Either it was Scott, or a very observant neighbor...

Anyway, I too, always wonder if this is reading and/or posting.

I haven't really gotten a solid feeling about him; however, early on,
I got some vibes about a (female) poster who I think was probably
LE, trying to get a read on posters here.
And later again, when she stopped posting, there was another.

I haven't been reading all the threads after the first few weeks,
as it was all just churning the sos, but...anyway....
Just thought I'd mention this. :)

If he had a gun it would be easy to control both.

If he grabbed one and told the other not to move, he could control both it seems.

I believe LE said something like (paraphrase) "taken just before criminal activity began" when discussing BG and audio.
criminal activity began the moment he lead them against their will. we do not know how quickly the murders happened after that.

Tthe current team is comprised of various different members including FBI, state, county, local along with other agencies. Altogether their scope is significantly broad so I can't see that happening.
