I have been thinking about this all day since the presser of this morn, LE and FBI haven't really offered the Public a "real bone" in trying to determine who this guy is, the voice could be any midwest male, the quality is poor same as the imagine provided of him. One would assume in this day and age the IT's in a criminal investigation could produce a far clearer audio and picture than what was provided. So just hear me out, they know who he is but they do not have enough evidence to proceed with an arrest as they need that certain person who knows something is up, could be a spouse, relative, friend or someone who knows way more but are remaining tight-lipped. JMO

I did watch the presser.

I distinctly heard the police say that Libby captured the IMAGE of the suspect on her phone.

LATER in the presser the police said they had some audio to play. They never clarified where that audio came from.

<snip> Additionally, investigators have released a voice recording, extracted from a video found on Liberty "Libby" German's cell phone, that may be connected to the homicides. Click one of the following links to dowload the recording...

From wthr.com

They released an audio recording of a man who can be heard saying three words: "down the hill". Investigators could not confirm if the suspect heard on that recording is the same person in the suspect photo they've been circulating.

State Police called Liberty "Libby" German "a hero" for thinking to record the suspect while the crime was happening.
"This lady is a hero. There is no doubt. To have the presence of mind to activate the video on her cell phone," ISP Sgt. Tony Slocum said.

Mods, is there a way we can make a pinned post about clarifying the bridge photo (what le has said is not true or hasn't confirmed) and where the audio came from? I feel like there is starting to be a ton of false info being posted and it's eating up a lot of posts by correcting constantly. Not sure if this is doable.

Actually they said Libby captured BOTH audio and video and that she is a hero.

I thought I would post this statement from last night once more since Sgt. Slocum repeated this same information on Primetime Justice only a few minutes ago:

Thank you. If this was about meeting someone on social media all of the police agencies would have found evidence of that by now.

I have never felt this was someone they were planning to meet in secret.

Now I have wondered if they may have put it out on the net the day before that they planned to go hiking the next day.

Yes please!!!!!!!

You asked me if I thought that LE was lying about it being a post at the end of the bridge.

No I do not think they are lying. If you notice at the end of my comment I said JMOO..... I felt it looked more like a person. That's just my own opinion... I'm barely able to keep up with the posts they are moving so fast so forgive me if I miss something.
I'm not on that bridge and I wasn't on the bridge at the time of the crime. I haven't seen the full video of Libby's phone nor do I want to. So from my perspective and it was even before the PC, I thought it looked like a potential person standing there.
Again ..JMOO. I'm sure LE have better visuals of the photo than I do.
It was just an opinion.

I agree with you. And to me it seems he would have to be a local to be at this particular location. They've probably gotten a ton of tips but they need more evidence. That said, there has got to be a ton of his DNA at the scene, right? Head scratch.

I'm just about worn out from this over thinking. I think that LE has gotten enough word out and has enough leads to where IF someone had seen him or IF someone knows him, they would have come forward already.

I'm going to tune out for a few days until I hear anything significant happening. Us going round and round in circles is futile and LE success depends on gathering facts and following up on leads. Our little endless speculation is not of much value to LE in solving the case.

Hey, in the end, I am like you. Very interested in finding the perpetrator but somewhat interested in the science of the investigation.

Over and out!!!

Hi all,

Assorted stuff:

1. One difference in the description gleaned from the press conference today (as well as the FBI description) is that the man was wearing a hoodie, not a cap, hat, bandanna, etc. There is no further mention of any head covering. I always saw that in one picture it was up, and in the second it was down - which is how we can see his hair.

From the FBI:

"The photo appears to depict a White male wearing blue jeans, a blue coat/jacket, and a hoodie."

2. They have had ministers and counselors available in the middle school. Kids are still outright crying, and many are scared. Therapy dogs were brought in and were a huge hit. I was so happy to hear that; animals soothe, assuage grief, and help along the healing process, for sure.

3. In terms of protecting oneself, if someone is going to attack a woman in a parking lot, it's a good bet she will have her keys in her hand. Many attackers know this, and try to quickly wrench the keys out of your hand. They also know many hold their phone. I don't know the logistics of this, but since the jogger murder cases this last summer, many women have been keeping a safety pin/safety pins on different parts of their clothing, The goal is to use one to get the eye. I grew up in the 80s in New England and kilts were part of the "preppy movement". Kilt pins are a good size. I imagine thatyou can get them in many places, such as Ebay. No one expects a pin shoved into their eye. Anything helps.

4. I read somewhere how much support LE is getting from the community. These men and women are working around the clock. They have constant food donations from people and restaurants, so much so that I think it was a Lowe's that donated a/an new refrigs to the police station and FBI office.

5. It is indescribable to me that people are arguing (in various forums) about Libby being called a hero. Blows my mind that people are taking the time to state that she is not a hero. Not only is it petty and mean-spirited, IMO, it's also misguided.

The definition of hero is, in part, a "person noted for courageous acts or nobility of character." We don't know the facts, so we cannot say that Libby started filming as Abby was grabbed or kept filming during the attack. No matter what, the girls stayed together. In a moment that was probably swift, shocking and terrifying, and unlike anything she'd considered in her wildest dreams, a 13 year-old had the wherewithal to try and capture his image. She took the chance of infuriating him further, which increased the likelihood of her demise. She made a rational choice in the midst of madness. She neither had a template for her act, nor a trial run. This was the real deal. This was a silent act of courage. Clearly, there is a reason the cops are calling Liberty a hero; it's not a word that they take lightly.

6. For those who haven't yet seen the FBI Most Wanted poster, here is the link to Libby's. You can print out the FBI posters and post around your locale. This is a great idea because an FBI Most Wanted poster might draw more interest.

I am sorry if anything has been repeated here, I took some time away to look at articles and write this post.

I brought this post over because it was at the very end of the last thread. I thought the safety pin was important for people to read. Mods if this isn't OK, I am sorry! I wouldn't ordinarily do this.

Just want to clear something up. Newer phones are not water proof they are water resistant. Big difference. A phone may survive a brief drop in water or spillage but will not survive long exposure to water.
http://www.businessinsider.com/iphone-7-water-resistant-not-water-proof-2016-9

Interesting... I can tell you I have submerged mine at least twice with absolutely no ill effects. My guess is they can't call it waterproof without tests done at specific depths for specific periods of time, that being said it is not beyond the realm of possibility that her phone was able to work if pulled out of a shallow creek. Also there are certain cellphone cases that are waterproof in design... a long shot but still a possibility.

I wish every radio station in the country would play that audio loop every hour on the hour until this murderer is caught.

I'm finding the boots they took to be interesting, because, there are databases of shoe patterns. Makes me think it's very close to the print found and they are wanting to look more closely.

I just watched it on NBC Nightly News here on the pacific coast. They even played the audio so it is being broadcast nationwide.

For links to the audio see posts 1 and 2 of this thread.

As to differeing interpretations of the images provided by LE, that is the beauty of WS. Lots of varied perspectives. All we have is what LE gives us and our own specualtion about it.

I don't think the girls were planning to meet someone that day, but I agree with what was said in the press conference, that it is likely that the perp knew they (or children in general) would be there. At the very least, I think the perp knew there was no school that day. He may have even stalked one or both of them on social media without their knowing it, but that's different from the girls actively looking to meet someone.

I hear "Git down the hill." I hear an order. I hear authority. I hear cold-calulated evil. I hear studied intention. I hear control. I hear my Grandfather say "Git in the house. Now."

This is only my opinion but I think with the information released in today's presser that those involved in this investigation probably heard some very horrific things from Libby's phone recording. They all seemed to be emotionally drained and maybe a bit disturbed by the evidence they have.

I know any child murder is hard on LEs but just the body language from all today seemed different.

Still it is no easy task for those that deal with this once in their life, let alone multiple times. Prayers to them and God Bless them for their courage to make these monsters pay.
