INDIANAPOLIS — Police are continuing to search the White River for a trash can that may contain the body of missing HVAC technician Brandon Perry.

Court documents obtained by FOX59/CBS4 paint a gruesome end for Perry as police investigate his own teenage son, David Perry, who investigators believe killed his father and dumped his body in the river inside a Republic trash can.

For the past week, law enforcement agencies have been searching the White River near Martinsville for signs of the trash can. At this time, Brandon Perry’s body has yet to be found.


On Wednesday, the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office charged 17-year-old David Perry with murder.

That whole affidavit is disturbing. Apparently Brandon was going to ground his son, David, and prevent him from driving for lying and spending too much time at his girlfriend's house. On the day Brandon disappeared, he got drunk and got into a fight with David- well that's what his son says. I wonder if David killed him in self-defense.

Also David claimed that in 2023 his dad allegedly tried to pull the pants down of a 9 year old girl who was staying at his house.

This is such an odd thing to bring up, whenever your dad is missing and presumed dead (at the hands of you)

Unless, you're trying to take the attention off of yourself, of course...

------ Brandon wouldn’t be reported missing until his sister contacted police. After heading to Brandon’s home, she ended up finding a “large amount of blood” on the bottom of Brandon’s mattress.
Investigators later found signs of blood on the basement stairs. Cadaver dogs would end up indicating on a makeshift burn pile in the side yard of the residence. Searching the burn pile, police found Brandon Perry’s license along with damaged credit cards and a business card.

Police noted that Brandon’s son, David, had lived at the home for three full days without contacting anyone about Brandon’s disappearance.

On May 27, before Brandon Perry was even reported missing, his work truck and trailer were found on Thompson Road near Five Points at the Ashland neighborhood. At the time, police were unable to reach Brandon Perry when they tried to contact him about the discovery.
Investigators reviewed footage from a pub located near where the truck was found. In the footage, a “skinny male” who reportedly resembles David Perry “in both stature and [gait]” is seen walking away from the truck.

Clothes worn by the figure in the footage also reportedly were similar to clothes David wore or owned, police said.

Investigators would go on to find that a handgun, bought by Brandon and gifted to David for a birthday present, was missing. Also missing was a blue Republic trash can.

A large amount of trash was found on the ground where the trash can normally is kept, according to court docs.
Further investigation would bring detectives to the conclusion that David not only murdered his father, but put his father’s body in a trash can and dumped him in the White River.

Police learned that on May 26, the day Brandon reportedly went missing, David went to Walmart and purchased a red dolly. He also bought a dust buster, small fan, seat covers, a candle, a belt and a small gun safe.

The gun safe was found in David’s car and housed a handgun.

State police dive teams were enlisted to help search for the body of Brandon Perry in the area of New Harmony Road and I-69 south. Police found wheel marks running down to the river from the interstate and boot prints. Wheel marks measured near the river reportedly match the same distance as a Republic trash can, court documents reveal.

Swabs done by investigators also revealed the presence of blood on Brandon Perry’s trailer and in the bed of the pickup.

According to court documents, Brandon’s sister told police that David told her that “(...) dad is in the White River (...) in a trash can.”

David supposedly told his aunt that he dumped the trash can “about an hour south” and that the can’s lid “was shut and it wasn’t going to open.”

Some messages uncovered by police include David telling someone on May 18 that he was going to be leaving at the end of this month with his car after recounting an argument with his father.

A message sent by David on May 26, the last day Brandon Perry was reportedly seen alive, said, “It popped off.”

When the person responded, “What?”

David wrote back, “I’ll talk to you about it in person, can’t say over text.”

Police spoke to the person David was speaking to. That individual reportedly told police that David said he and his father got into an altercation and David said he couldn’t go back to the house but wouldn’t provide further details on why.

The search for Brandon Perry’s body continues.

Here's what I found in the PCA that hasn't yet been posted about &/ in the media.
SPOILERS = my own commentary / reactions.

David told family members as well as Lt. Eli McAllister, he last saw his father pulling out of the driveway in his truck between 7:00 AM and 8:00AM on Sunday, May 26, 2024, to go to a job. Davidnever reported his father missing and only stated anything to family members once his aunt, LW contacted him inquiring about if he had seen him. Detective Miller also learned Brandon had never arrived at the job he was scheduled to do on Sunday, May 26, 2024. David Perry was living in the home for nearly three full days between the last time he reported seeing his father until his aunt contacted him. This was the first moment David showed any concern about his father having not returned home.

David also told Lt. McAllister his father had a handgun which was missing from his truck, which he believed had been stolen a week prior to his father’s disappearance.
How convenient!

David later tells Lt. McAllister there was a handgun in the safe in his blue Ford Mustang which looks just like the one his father had which was stolen. David explained the firearm his father purchased for him on his 13th birthday but they never told anyone. This firearm was later recovered and a trace of it showed the firearm had been purchased by Brandon Perry on February 27, 2016, when David Perry was 8 years old.
Sounds like someone's trying to explain why his fingerprints were on the gun...

David also told Lt. McAllister he had ordered some sort of key to take the hinges off his father’s gun safe so he could “get his stuff out of it.”
There were subsequent searches on his cell phone's browser history from May 27,2024, which are for “safe cracking”.
Located inside of the safe at the residence were weapons, a small bag of suspected cocaine, and $31,550 in cash.

On the morning of May 26th, 2024, at approximately 7:33 AM, the same time frame David reported last seeing his father, David’s phone is shown going to the Walmart located at 4650 S. Emerson Avenue. Video obtained by Detective Miller shows David Perry entering theWalmart and purchasing only a red dolly and paying cash.

(David Perrys) phone's location is shown to be in Morgan County off of Interstate 69 South (Old State Road 37), where the White River crosses under Interstate 69 near New Harmony Road, on May 27, 2024, from 1:48 AM until 2:22 AM.
The trailer ramp showed the presence of possible blood which was swabbed for testing purposes.The truck bed also showed a positive test for what appears to be an extremely large presence of possible blood.
She stated David had replaced the gun which had been missing from Brandon’s truck with her dad’s .44. David said to LW’s mom that he had been afraid his dad was missing, so he had gone out into the woods and shot the gun one time. David then tried to hand a single shell casing to LW and her mom but they did not take it.
MD stated while David was at her home at a later date he told her he had something to tell her but he was worried she would hate him.
A review of the location data from David Perry’s cell phone along with witness statements allows the following timeline to emerge:

12:30 AM – David is at home, 9511 Vandergriff.
Between 1:00 AM and 1:20 AM – Brandon Perry and MD arrive at 95XX Vandergriff.
1:38 AM - MD arrives back at her home. She texts Brandon Perry and he responds.
7:33 AM - David Perry arrives near the Walmart and purchases a red dolly.
8:12 AM - David Perry returns home at 95XX Vandergriff.
10:55 AM – David Perry returns to Walmart and purchases additional items including a small fan and hand-held vacuum.
11:20 AM – David Perry goes to the Lowe’s lot. Video did not seem to show him entering the store.
11:44 AM – David Perry returns home at 9511 Vandergriff
3:06 PM – David Perry goes by his girlfriend's address
3:18 PM – David Perry returns home 9511 Vandergriff.
5:00 PM – David Perry goes to CE's home.
6:32 PM – David Perry is at his girlfriend's address.
10:11 PM – David Perry returns to Walmart and purchases a candle, a belt, and gun safe.
10:44 PM – David Perry returns home to Vandergriff.

May 27, 2024
12:15 AM - David Perry arrives at 7200 Thompson Rd. the dump site of Brandon Perry’s trailer.
12:34 AM – David Perry leaves the dump site of Brandon Perry’s trailer.
1:48 AM – David Perry arrives in the immediate area of the likely dumping point for the body of Brandon Perry. He remains just north of the final dumping site on near the bridge for approximately 7 minutes
1:58 AM - David Perry passes the likely dump site of Brandon Perry’s body but backs up andstops at New Harmony Rd. and I69 just north of Martinsville, Indiana. He remains at this location for 19 minutes. David then turns around at the next exit and returns home.
2:52 AM – David Perry arrives back home at 95XX Vandergriff.
5:23 AM – David Perry is in the area of his girlfriend’s home.
5:42 AM – David returns home.
6:03 AM - David stops at Mikie’s Pub, the dumping point for the Dodge Ram pickup belonging to Brandon Perry.

Officers are still running constant patrol at the river as well as the house where authorities say Brandon Perry was killed. A police officer who pulled into the driveway of the house Friday declined to answer a NewsNation reporter’s questions.

NewsNation local affiliate WXIN reports that Brandon Perry’s sister had told authorities he was missing. A recently filed probable cause affidavit shows that she had found blood on the bottom of her brother’s mattress, with investigators later finding signs of blood on the basement stairs as well.

A cadaver dog pointed police to a burn pit on the property, where inside, they found Brandon Perry’s charred license, damaged credit cards and a business card.

Court documents, according to WXIN, say that Brandon Perry’s sister told police that David told her “his dad is in the White River and that he was in a trash can.”
