It would be a tribute to ML memory if her story helps just one person escape dangerous abuse.
SL appears to present with narcissism. The signs of such are red flags, and should be common knowledge to avoid the consequences of being involved in this type of relationship.
Bless the young children of SL. I pray they rise above this tragic occurance, and have a happy life.

Justice for Melinda at Last.

Charlie Manson is currently 81 years old, which is the same age SL will be in 45 years. I'm hoping for a 65-year sentence!
I am too. That - or plain old life with no parole. i will be surprised if he gets the minimum considering the heinousness of the crime. This was no crime of passion. He planned it and set it up for months. I hope the judge takes that into consideration.

As I was out feeding horses this morning, I was thinking back (way back - lol ) to my dating days. And I was thinking about former boyfriends. Never mind that any two of them would get together and come to "kidnap" me. I can't even imagine any two of them getting together for ANY REASON!!

What a lame-brained attempt to get out of killing your wife, SL!!

Yeah! This such great news!!

I have had a ton-o-stuff going on in real life, so have only been able to peek in here recently. First thing I wanted to do this Saturday morning was check to see how things were going, and I am not even playing when I tell you, that I got the chills when I read the verdict was guilty! (Seriously the hair stood up on the back of my neck and my arms!!). AMEN!!!.

SHSF said it, right in court, I want the person who killed my friend punished, and so it will be! I know a statement like that would have moved me, and I am glad she said something to that effect in court. Nicely played SHSF, you clearly do very well under pressure! I am relieved that you will never have to be in presence of that cowardly excuse for a man, ever again!

Annnnnnnnnnd... Baby Girl is with her moms family !!! Whoo-Hoo!!! I could not be happier today!

HUGE group hug to every one here who cared so very much, prayed, hoped, wished and tried mightily to see this young woman get the respect she wasn't afforded in her personal life, from that soulless SOB she had the misfortune to cross paths with!

I am very glad the prosecution leaned more heavily on the money as motive this time around. Previously, as I recall, they were more focused on the, "she was going to leave him" angle as motive, which I always felt was very weak. (You don't want to lose someone so you kill them?). I mean, I get it about power and control, but some people might not have felt that made sense. The money was a much more tangible reason, that people could see.

It seems obvious that the Prosecution very carefully assessed their case, and cleaned up all the lose ends. Great job they did too!

And get together to kidnap you four to five years or more AFTER you had broken up with them!

I am sure this has been a tremendous financial burden on whoever paid for his defense. SL let them pay, too, and he knew he did it.

Yes. He absolutely knew. What kind of an idiot thinks a situation is so dangerous, you need to bring your gun, but..Oh... I'll just bring my wife (whom I dearly love and would never want to put in any danger), with me?!! Because why?

Someone will need to care for the baby. Hummmm.... Yeah. He knew.

Which is why I wonder why SL's brother wasn't charged with anything. Anyone remember the conspiracy charge at the beginning? If the brother wasn't helping SL set up the stalker persona, someone certainly was.
Frankly, I'm very surprised there wasn't a girlfriend. I was convinced there would be.

I am also very surprised that the audio surveillance tape that we read about here months ago, the one that supposedly recorded the sound of the gunshot apparently did not come up during the trial. I think it would have been very important information - important enough to be presented in the trial and reported in the news as that would pinpoint the exact time Melinda was shot.

What came out instead is that someone turned on a zombie killer movie in the middle of the night when everyone, according to SL, was asleep.

I also think the prosecution did a great job and am also glad they focused on the money motive. I have always felt the life insurance was the reason why this happened.

I mis-read Molly1255's post which I quoted. Sorry! What I meant to say was, not that SL knew he was guilty, ( because yes, of course he did). But his Brother also knew.

I suppose what's really important is that Melinda's killer has been found guilty, his first wife and her child are finally free as well, and Baby Girl can grow up surrounded by people who will keep Melinda's memory alive.
I'm sure if there was enough evidence to charge SL's brother it would have happened. If he was involved, I hope he spends the rest of his life looking over his shoulder.

I do believe the information about the existence of the audio surveillance tape came from a source proven to be...unreliable. Could be there never was such a recording.

Maybe that same source cited the video surveillance of SL at a gas station if anyone remembers that.

Possibly there is no way to link Shawn Lindsey to the crime, but I'm linking him.
Where was he and his wife, when SL was cutting up and burning Melinda's clothing and photo albums?
When SL was kicking Melinda and the baby out of the house?
When all of the abuse was occurring, Shawn's house was, apparently, SL's place of refuge.

Where was the "concern" for baby girl then? Who doesn't have the common decency to say, "If your going to keep that baby from her mother, do it someplace else, not at my house...

If these were such decent people, the brother and his wife, why would they support terrorist behavior?

I agree. But then again they may have been victims of Steve Lindsey's lies. Idk, I don't like that Shawn took his wife and guns over to the house "because it's better to have them and not need them", I don't like that he didn't call 911 because if SL had wanted to he owould have done it, I don't like that SL even CALLED his brother.
BUT, we don't know what SL told him. And he could have (and god, for their parents' sake I hope so) told him that Melinda was unfit because she was an addict, he could have lied about everything and been convincing enough for Shawn to believe him.
I just can't imagine knowing one of my sons is a cold blooded killer and the other an accessory.

I agree. And I know there is the marital privilege which prevents one spouse from testifying against the other. But over the years it seems they have found ways around this. So, I guess the Lindsey's better be very nice to each other. I've seen many, many cases that have been cracked after years have gone by and alliances have changed.

I really don't think Shawn was a victim of SL's lies. I do believe he knew his brothers character. I have seven brothers. I know exactly what kind of men they are. I grew up with them. I don't believe for one second, that Shawn did not know, SL's penchant for lying, cheating, cruel behavior, long before his ex wife even... I would bet the farm, he knew his bro was an abusive @zzhole.

I just found this. You're probably right. It's probably only lack of evidence keeping him from being charged:

http://www.chicagotribune.com/subur...y-trial-thursday-st-0304l-20160303-story.html

From the article:

"Jones told the jury that he thinks Lindsey and his brother, Shawn Lindsey, staged the incidents, which included a report to police about a week before Melinda was killed that they found a bedroom window open and the screen cut. He also said there were then two calls the day before she was killed when they reported items missing from her car and footprints around the house."

Either way, 45 years or life, it will kill him to be locked up.

Actually, if he gets 45 yrs, he could be out in 20 (with good behavior), or even less depending...

I hope he gets the 65 years so that he will serve closer to 30 years so when SL is released both those innocent children are adults so they can make their own decisions if they want a relationship with the monster or not.

The thought of him executing his beautiful young wife while she slept makes him so vile.

Reading Mr Kirby's words was heartbreaking as a parent, I can't imagine the pain and anguish that Melinda's parents feel, I pray they find peace.
