Correct. They aired a description of JBR. What good does looking for JBR do, when she's dead in the basement? Clearly, LE was given the wrong description. LE was misled.

Regardless of IDI or RDI, LE was led to believe there was a kidnapping in progress, and they would naturally be looking for a blond hair blue eye 6 year old girl. Although I'm told she didn't really have blond hair or blue eyes.

Suppose that JBR was discovered in the basement right away. What would then go on the LE radio?
Actually JB was a natural brunette, dyed blonde (I've seen photos of a younger JB). IIRC, her eye color was brown.

lol i didn't realize how many i have outed!
I admit i don't watch Jon and Kate plus 8, or Sex in the City, Pretty Woman, Titanic, 16 candles, Dirty Dancing. But I'd imagine that would be more to your liking than say WHo IS the Deadliest Warrior?

Terms like countermeasures, deviaton, scanned, monitor, attache I think of James Bond and Mission impossible. While women could watch this, men could watch the L-Word. I don't have HBO otherwise, L-word now that's a chick flick I could actually enjoy.
Well, my husband is the one who usually arm-twists me into watching some of the action movies (I enjoyed the Indiana Jones series), BUT I grew up watching James Bond movies and Mission Impossible and Get Smart with my father. I also actively read Nancy Drew as a child, and I am the one who wants to rent the swash-buckling movies like Les Miserables, Lord of the Rings, and Pirates of the Carribean, so don't go stereo-typing women based on their movie preferences!
P.S. I also enjoy book thrillers such as John Grisham and Robin Cook, two of my favorite authors!

very interesting. Some RDI conjecture

the "profile" of the RN is a Francophile, as evidence by francophilic linguistic features
PR was a Francophile
therefore, PR fits the profile of the author of the RN

premise (1) is thrown into doubt
Ummm, I think you're mistaking Anne's premise of the note being written by a resident of France versus an American of French descent/French student- both of which Patsy Ramsey was!

i was thinking some thrill kill adolescent who has read tru crime genre and thriller movies and mafia and military movies, attempting to use their language to make the RN sound that of a harden sophisticated career criminal
Exactly, except substitute Patsy for "thrill kill adolescent" and you've got it!

Do you believe it was mostly at random? That JB herself was the target and not the Rs? Because she was a high profile target attacked on the one night out of the year everybody is most likely to be at home and accounted for, or at the crowded home of relatives. Either way, it's a night when people are likely to be home as opposed to out somewhere. This was an exclusive neighborhood in a wealthy town, with homes likely to have security systems and cameras installed. If she were a random young girl targeted for sexual or thrill kill purposes, she was certainly a high risk target at a high risk time.

Personally, I can't see one or more people taking that high a calculated risk that has so many chances of going south fast. If they wanted JB, I think they could have taken her from almost anywhere else at any other time and had their way with her. I see PR or possibly JR accidentally going too far in either a fit or rage over a toileting mishap or a sex game gone awry. And then the cover-up of all cover-ups.

I've also wondered if maybe the stress of maintaining that story and keeping up the facade of innocence wasn't the stress factor that nudged her cancer from its remission and led to P's death indirectly.
I've had the same thoughts when she died.

Maybe so, except for the 'frame the parents' part.

That falls into same category as parents framing an intruder. If parents framed an intruder, then there would be definitive signs of an intruder. JR certainly wouldn't be saying 'I broke the window'. There would be clear forced entry that LE would've found right away, and JR would've claimed everything was locked up, to reinforce the idea that the house was violated. They also wouldn't make it seem like the intruder spent hours relaxed in the house, eating pineapple and writing long notes. The note would've been shorter, or the long note written by pen and paper that LE could not find (NOT from a pad in the house), to make it seem like the RN was written beforehand. Pineapple would not be conspicuously left out on the kitchen table with parent fingerprints on it, by someone wanting to stage an intruder crime scene. The garrote stick would've been a natural stick from outside, or anything the R's could claim wasn't theirs.

If an intruder was framing the parents, there would be definitive signs of a parent. There would be NO ransom note.
You've had way more time to think this through than the Ramsey's did! They can't think of everything...

Hi SD.

I've never heard of a woman describe delivery as exhausting.
.... Like getting hit by a Mack truck , ya .... but not 'exhausting'.
Oh yes it can be! Depending on how many hours you are in labor and or in pain! Mine was over 24 hours and I would describe labor as extremely painful and exhausting.

If your spouse just covered up an explainable fatal head injury by staging a capital child murder(unbelievable scenario #1), and then started HANDWRITING a 300+ word ransom note admitting education, wealth, French, Southern roots, and movie favorites (unbelievable scenario #2) what would you do? Remember you're a multimillionaire businessman that didn't just fall off the turnip truck.
Patsy was a stand-by-your man kinda gal and she wasn't going to tolerate the embarrassment of an ER visit, or coroner for accidentally killing her daughter, especially if it was the result of a sex game taken too far!
Ooops, I just realized after I posted that you were referring to John- well he had no choice but to go along. Patsy Ramsey was alot like Cindy Anthony, you think John would defy her at a time like that unless it was to save his own skin???

So did I. Although, I must confess that I was still pretty torn up about it either way.
Well, there are few people who truly deserve to die by such a horrible means, but it didn't cut her a free pass on JB's death, which many posters at the time wanted to absolve Patsy for those reasons.

You don't have to remind me, LinasK. I was here. I won't forget it.

Can anyone take a crack at this one?

But something is wrong with Hold's scenario: you must factor in the chronic sexual abuse of JonBenet.

I'd destroy it and tell her to start over. But maybe JR was so ashamed of his dirty deed that he skulked away into the corner leaving mommy PR to call the shots. He was assigned other clean up duties while she penned the note. When it was time to put the plan into action, she jumped the gun and called 911 before JR had a chance to edit.

For six years, I read every piece of information I could find pertaining to this case before finally resolving myself to the fact that there are some things I'm not meant to know. I've deliberately avoided this forum since I joined WS because it can only lead to more :banghead: . Well, here I am sick, home from work, and overcome by temptation. I've read all seven pages of this thread plus a couple of others, and it's a very tight match. (But then it's always been that way with this case. *sigh*) I've enjoyed the heckuva out of reading the arguments on both sides, nevertheless.

I'd also like to say that I am a middle-aged, Southern woman -- and a mother -- and not only is delivery most definitely synonymous with exhaustion, speaking of films, I've always thought parts of the RN loudly reflect the voice of an angry, condescending wife/mother. I can almost here Norman sighing in the background:

Wear your galoshes, Norman. Make sure you have a big attache, Norman. Look what you've done now, Norman. Don't grow a brain, Norman. Noooooorrrrmmaaaan bring me my tea!!

Yes, Mother.

You've had way more time to think this through than the Ramsey's did! They can't think of everything...

'Oh, they were panicked and can't think of everything' is a wildcard claim. Did you know that you can explain ANY crime scene nonsensical phenomenon with that excuse? RDI asks us to believe that BOTH JR AND PR walked thru the kitchen, past the pineapple in the bowl with their fingerprints on it, while writing long fake ransom notes, tieing fake garrotes/ligatures around JBR, and placing fake tape on her mouth. Oh, and while wearing GLOVES to do other parts of the crime. I'm sorry not plausible.

Its like the wildcard claim that PR disguised her handwriting and spelling ability. Now, any differences whatsoever that are discovered in handwriting or spelling between the RN and PR's exemplars are accounted for. Its like magic.

I'd destroy it and tell her to start over.

Wrong. I've given it no thought as I'm typing, and I would place JBR at the bottom of stairs and claim she fell in the night, or place JBR outside and claim an intruder kidnapped, sexually assaulted, and killed her. What do you need a ransom note for?

Actually JB was a natural brunette, dyed blonde (I've seen photos of a younger JB). IIRC, her eye color was brown.

Her eye color was green (see autopsy report). I'd describe her natural hair color as sandy/light brown. A stretch would be dirty or dishwater blonde.

A coroner can tell if someone fell down the stairs, especially if it led to their death. JB did not have the injuries consistent with that kind of accident. You see in the news all the time (unfortunately) where a parent brings a child to the emergency room or calls 911 to say the kid fell down the stairs and it proved that the child was beaten.
I think that is exactly why the RN was needed. It was the head bash that rendered her unconscious, maybe even comatose, and it would have been fatal on its own. There was no external sign of the head bash, however. So an obvious cause of death was devised (and maybe there were marks on her neck from PR twisting her shirt that needed to be explained I am not completely convinced of that, however). So to me, both the garrote and RN were devised to offer an explanation of why their daughter was going to be found dead in the home. For them to call 911 and say there had been an accident (which they certainly could have done), the autopsy would reveal blunt force trauma. And sexual abuse. It was the latter that possibly caused the parents to devise such an elaborate and convoluted crime scene.
