Garth's case is just full of surprises. I wonder if Mathis' latest arrest brought forth some new information.

While we're waiting, I just happened to see if there was anyone familiar in the White County Superior court calendar... and up pops Garth. What does this mean. "Unsatisfactory termination" from probation ?

What was she on probation for in White County?

And how could they let her off if she is accused of murder somewhere else?

Perhaps it was discharged because of the plea but now the plea has been withdrawn because she lied, this termination is now "unsatisfactory".

MOO

It's a theft case.

If I understand correctly, she probably didn't meet all the terms of her probation. I don't know why they didn't revoke it.

I hated the deal that AG received for her role in murdering this young mother Nicole Bowen.

Has something changed?

I recall she was released in May on $50K bond and she is scheduled for a polygraph leading up to her next court date Oct 21.

Sept 4, 2020

Drinski said Garth has a plea agreement pending that would drop the murder charge for a felony charge of assisting a criminal. Drinski said that charge carries a maximum of six years in prison. He said Garth is scheduled to take a polygraph test next week, leading up to her next court date on Oct. 21.

Killer pleads: Torture, murder of West Lafayette woman followed fear ‘she snitched' on meth operation

The plea deal was withdrawn because she lied. Maybe they discovered that with the lie detector test. I had completely missed that they were giving her a test. This case gets more involved with each turn.

Thanks for update!

AG was proven a liar the minute forensic test results showed AG was very much a participant in strangling the life out of NB. I believe the DA thought AG would be the key witness to secure a conviction against GK. I think the DA learned AG most likely directed GK in the murder. IMO, these two definitely fed off of each other.

Just the idea the State would drop the murder charge for a felony charge of assisting a criminal -- which carries a maximum of six years, was insane! I hope that it's GK that testifies against her now. MOO

I get the feeling something is going on. Is something big coming? Hmmmm....I sure would like to know what's going on behind closed doors.

Well we might get to know "something" on 10/21. AG is supposed to be sentenced, but of course the DA pulled the plea deal & GK also has hearing on that date as the State filed a motion to pull his plea deal too!!

I think Beckley has info the prosecutor wants. Maybe they are anticipating a plea deal and that's why they haven't scheduled a jury trial.

I'm trying to compare dates to see if Kirts' plea caused the shake-up. Remember, he dropped the Palladino name.

Three other people have been charged in connection with Bowen’s death.

Talitha Beckley, a 38-year-old Monticello woman who prosecutors say was in the trailer home that night, and Christopher Mathis, a 28-year-old Kentland man who was recruited to help Kirts hide Bowen’s body, have been charged with assisting a criminal, a level 5 felony that carries possible prison sentences of one to six years. Mathis also was charged with obstruction of justice.

Mathis,
who Drinski said also is up for a polygraph test next week, has a pending plea deal and is scheduled for sentencing Oct. 23.

Beckley has asked for a trail [trial]on her charges. Beckley’s next court appearance is scheduled for a hearing Oct. 19.

We know that Beckley has a new lawyer and although she faces the lesser charges of assisting a criminal (level 5 felony), she's never been part of the plea group and has always been on record as requesting a jury trial.

She was also being subpoenaed by Kirts prior to his plea deal.

She must believe that she can do better at trial and I'm not alarmed by the discovery request.

Yes, but there's this which adds to my confusion. Is she going for a bench trial?

I think it just meant that the court could not accommodate jury selection, etc. during the timeframe previously stated. I think the latest news specific to Beckley goes back to June 2020 (pushed her date to Nov 2020) and the DNA results proved AG was more involved beyond what she claimed.

DNA results could add charges in torture, murder of WL woman near Kentland

June 28, 2020

KENTLAND, Ind. – Waiting in an orange Newton County Jail jumpsuit in the front row of a prisoner’s box Friday morning, Talitha Beckley spotted family members in the back of the Newton Superior Court gallery and waved.

“Hi, Daddy,” Beckley shouted, bringing a rebuke from a bailiff, who quieted her with a swift, “Hey!”

“My bad,” said Beckley, in court Friday morning as one of five suspects charged in connection with the March death of Nicole Bowen, a 30-year-old mother of two from West Lafayette.

[..]

On Friday morning, Newton County Prosecutor Jeff Drinski told Molter he was waiting for results from DNA tests, as he determines whether to bump up charges for any of the four suspects charged with assisting a criminal the night Garett Kirts, 21, of Lebanon, is accused of strangling and killing Bowen at a trailer park near Kentland.

[..]

Molter on Friday pushed the next court dates to November for Beckley, 30, of Monticello; Jasmine Parker, 34, of Kentland; and Christopher Mathis, 27; of Kentland.

Seattle1 from article said:
Molter on Friday pushed the next court dates to November for Beckley, 30, of Monticello; Jasmine Parker, 34, of Kentland; and Christopher Mathis, 27; of Kentland.

Okay... for Jasmine - in my notes:

*Jasmine Nicole Parker (34/now 36) – 10/8/19: Plead guilty. According to the plea agreement, Parker also will serve four years in prison for being a habitual offender, based on felony convictions in 2018 for unlawful possession of a syringe in Jasper County & in 2004 for burglary in Tippecanoe County. Earliest release date 1/4/23.

and for Mathis - I have:

*Christopher Channing Mathis (27/now 28) – 9/18/20: Plead guilty & sentenced to time served (912 days). Out of jail. Cooperating with White County on Hanish case.

so do these 2 have November court hearing dates? Just want to keep my notes straight! TIA! :)
