Wednesday, April 14th:
*Pretrial Conference Hearing (@ 8:30am CT) – IN – *Christopher Channing Mathis (27/now 28) arrested & charged (9/25/20) with conspiracy to commit dealing in a substance (controlled substance) & dealing in a substance (represented to be a controlled substance (both Level 6 felonies).
*Amended charges (12/18/20) to 2 counts of dealing in a substance (controlled) & 1 count of trafficking with an inmate. $200K Bond. Bonded out on 3/8/21 on $2K cash bond.
12/11/20 Update: Motion filed to amend charging info. Motion hearing on 12/18/20 @ 8:30am & dispositional hearing on 1/15/21 12/18/20 Update: State's motion to amend charging info; charging info to include count 3: trafficking with an inmate, a level 5 felony. Order changing dispositional hearing to pretrial conference hearing on 1/15/21.
1/15/21 Update: Court authorizes depos to be taken at County’s expense. Pretrial hearing was reset on 4/14/21. 2/3/21: Mathis files Motion for Deposition. 2/4/21: Order providing Attorney Scheurich with copy of defendant's pro-se motion for deposition.
IN – Nicole Lynn Bowen (30) (missing 3/29/19, Jefferson Township, Newton County, found 3/30/19) Mathis was arrested (4/10/19) & charged (3/28/19) with felony count of assisting a criminal & obstruction of justice. Plead not guilty. $50K bond Surety only.
Trial was set to begin on 4/6/20 than moved to 4/29/20-was vacated due to coronavirus. 9/18/20: Plead guilty due to a plea agreement. Sentenced to 912 days, credit 912 jail days. For obstruction of justice-dismissed without prejudice. Will testify again Kirts in Ray Hanish murder.

*Motions Hearing (@ 3:30pm CT) – IN – Nicole Lynn Bowen (30) (missing March, 29, 2019, Jefferson Township, Newton County, found March 30, 2019) – for *Ashley N. Garth (26/now 27) arrested (4/3/19) & charged (3/29/19) with felony count of assisting a criminal. Plead not guilty. $25K bond. Posted bond (1/30/21) & out.
*Charged (3/29/19) with murder, conspiracy to commit murder conspiracy results in death (Felony 1) & assisting a criminal in committing murder. Held without bond. Judge reduces bond (1/10/20) to $50K.
Trial set to begin on 5/17/21.

*Garrett Kenneth Kirts (21/now 22) – Newton County: Nicole’s Case #56D01-1904-MR-000367- 9/4/20: Plead guilty. Sentenced on 1/11/21 to 55 years in prison.
*Christopher Channing Mathis (27/now 28) – 9/18/20: Plead guilty & sentenced to time served (912 days). Out of jail. Cooperating with White County on Hanish case. Rearrested (9/25/20): Conspiracy dealing drugs charge: Pretrial hearing on 4/14/21.
*Talitha Ann Beckley (36/now 38) – Pretrial hearing on 5/28/21. Trial begins on 7/26/21.
*Nicole Parker (34/now 36) – 10/8/19: Plead guilty. According to the plea agreement, Parker also will serve 4 years in prison for being a habitual offender, based on felony convictions in 2018 for unlawful possession of a syringe in Jasper County & in 2004 for burglary in Tippecanoe County. Earliest release date 1/4/23.
