It could also be that in the course of the investigation into her contacts there were several individuals who had solicited or sent inappropriate photographs from/to her. All would be in trouble for their individual actions even if not connected to her running away with one of them.

Absolutely horrible. I would be interested to know how they originally came in contact. Did this offender strictly groom children he contacted online or was there another point of contact between him and her family such that he knew her personally before the abuse began. I wonder about the latter because he was also from Huntington and the abuse apparently went on for such a long period of time.
